She's very on point when mentioning that she has to be a "drummer" "a bass player" etc...as a solo pianist because the piano, although a string instrument is considered and designated as a percussion instrument by the nature of the striking/playing of the keys and the hammers hitting the strings. The piano is designed to allow for a bass rhythm with the left hand while playing melody with the right hand. Of course there are almost endless other ways one can be dynamic with their playing.
Most beautiful woman on the Planet... inside and out. She sees music in such detail. Everyone who watches this should have just a little more understanding of the qualities that music can possess, and at least appreciate them more.
@Z33L0W you clearly will never understand what it is to be passionate about anything, let alone music. To say something as stupid as that is as ignorant as ignorant gets. You should go fall in a hole and lie there for a year or so, so you can be alone and think about what you just said and maybe realize that you are a total idiot. Maybe then you will be able to appreciate true artistry.
she did the bass but she failed the drums but i don't think that on a solo record you have to replace the other instruments. there would be no sense in making one.
she is cute when she explains why she loves making music and what the attention of the audience means to her instead of just saying "i am an egocentric like any other person too but i got the skills to make people look at me and i love it cause it strengthens my self confidence"
With all of the music she writes, it seems like she always pulls out all the potential. I mean, all of her music...It's all stunning, from Time Difference to Spain to Place To Be. I never hear her music falter, in strength, melody or in its ability to remain in your mind.
i absolutely love the album too, all the songs have worn on me, i am really keen to see how she is in 10 years, her progress in the last decade has been outstanding, its almost as though ive been waiting for her music :P
oh my god. She was mixing this at oberlin and smiled at me as I was sitting in the studio, eating my dinner before Jazz improv class...

As a guitar player, I never thougth too much about piano / keyboards for the most part. Hiromi changed all that with her eloquent voicings on piano.
I'm hooked.
Cheers, Frazzo.

Hi - I' m the first to comment and a big fan
-
Hope it is a DVD because it's not only a thrill to hear her but equally to see her.
Hear my page -I try to carbon her . . . no way success
It's a pity she never answers anybody on YouTube
My deep deep wish is her to interpretef Michel Petrucciani in "In a Sentimental Mood" (see Kiri ) or/and "Brazilian like"
She is the only capable to do his A-syncopic Left Hand.
I try that too . . . because it seems so simple.
