I am confused by some of the comments. I think some info was blocked. Manong Angel moved in different ways at different times. The footwork he used was beautiful to watch. I think that in the studio he relaxed and showed more footwork than in demos. He worried sometimes that someone would steal his art. All the Master students now have evolved their own personal interpretation of the art somewhat...some more than others. I wish we could all move like the Master himself. Master Ron Saturno
I saw four schools, 3 masters, and 1 second degree advanced guro all under Manong Angel teachings play serrada. I'm glad to have seen M. Cabiero at work. I've seen that movement before when I played against Manong Dentoy's students. I've been enlightened to see M. Cabiero show the effectiveness of his footwork and now I'm very interested in studying under him. Where can I get information about his classes?
During the early 70's Master JC recollected GM Angel demonstrating his quick footwork at Gong Lee's dance studio, in the back room of Gong Lee's restaurant, and at the Filipino Center which was a rare occasion (when GM was in the mood). GM Angel told the group that was present that the faster his footwork moved, the quicker and deadlier were his strikes to his opponent (it was amazing according to Master JC).
We timed Master JC at the studio during this knife fighting demonstration and from the initial counter to the completion of the attack was 3.7 seconds with 8-11 deadly knife strikes with both jugular slices within 2 seconds. Without any disrespect to other Grandmasters and Masters in the fighting arts, Master JC totally believes that Grandmaster Angel Cabales was the greatest Escrimador that has ever lived and a "Deadly" Filipino fighter from Cebu. Mabuhay ang Cabales Serrada ng Escrima!
Deleting comments thats not very nice. But really combat steping angel cabales never did that. your supposed to be the best of Serrada And De Cuedus dizons art no one except angel and people like Illistrismo (sp) knows how he taught it. to my knowlage there was no combat steping.
Comments should be intelligent and with substance which gives VALUE. It should not bring forth dissention or insulting to the Pure Art of Cabales Serrada ng Escrima.

Goofy footwork and inefficient.
Whats strange is that JC Cabiero is a Masters Graduate under GM Angel. It looks almost nothing like Serrada.
Oh well, people change I guess.
