i love how i'm the only one to notice that they can't crash land safely on the death star. it's in space and they don't wear oxygen or anything. i always died giggling at that stupidness "i've crash landed safely, need pick up! i'm clear, but my fighter is down!"

Epic fail. XD would been a great movie-shot in Episode 4 for one of the fighters to have actually been shot down RIGht as they approached the trench, and crash on the side of it. :P

bonus level of this fails, the trench run is a straight narrow line, not a big cavern with turns and towers and tie fighters flying in and out, so disappointed when i got this :(

a long time ago ... i played on N64 and that was the only star wars game version i played . the cinematic scenes always messed me up ! as soon as the little video was over , i'd crash , hit a wall or something . the game wasn't bad but i couldn't seem to finish too many missions without being destroyed every few times .

@woodbugs As I said in the description, it's the official PC version of the FIRST Rogue Squadron, who only exist on PC and N64. So I don't use any emulator.

If you want to fire a homing torpedo without having to get a lock, just mash the C button quickly. After pressing it a few times, you'll start firing ungiuded missles.

Can you play this on Vista and with a USB controller? From what I remember this was an "analogue stick" game where you plugged the controller into the MIDI port. Tried to get this working on Win 2K and it wouldn't see my USB pad :(

You could play it on Windows XP with a USB joystick but it was unstable as hell. It was a 1:3 chance that when you finished the program it would not crash.

But the USB joystick I have worked fine.

I am hoping Windows 7 is more stable.

Yes it is. It's a bonus level. I got the cheat codes to get right through to it. I miss my old game. I used to try and blow up all of the towers on my way to the exhaust port.

it looks and feels NOTHING like the movie..

the movie had no towers in the trench and the lasers were shooting from dirrectly infront

it should have been a simple tight trench..but one which you go through so fast (making it difficult)

But to win the a medial, you have to shoot some enemies.

Aye it is...i know it's a bit BIG, but this was our first real Tench Run feeling battle...the one we could saw on commodor had not the feeling...i shot the lasers of the enemy fighters for avoid hurt...It was a bit dissapointing...but the trench itself was nice as i remember...when i needed to avoid them...
