Unlike Real Robot (Gundam and Code Geass R1, to name a few), Super Robot are about making the battles as awesome as possible, without breaking the series' own laws of physics (subverted in TTGL, where the laws of physics are determined by the characters' fighting spirit), and generally breaking the boundaries of what we would normally consider realistic (TTGL does this too well, by letting the protagonist invent teleportation just to punch a friend of his, and a lot more)

@pinoi78 I know as well as you that Code Geass isn't really all that Real, but according to Wikipedia it is, though it only actually seemed real for the first 20 minutes, AKA until Lelouch got the Geass. Heck, Even Gundam (the original) went from being Real Robot to being more Super Robot-ish. That's the only way they can possibly justify incorporating systems that allow people to use telepathy to improve their MS's capabilities.

@kajen17 but that was a prototype for the real robot genre it still head allot of Super Robot things in it (like the RX-78-2 color scheme) probably the most realistic series is the 08th MS team and maybe 0080 War In the Pocket

@henritje19 I know that. I haven't watched War in the Pocket, but I know that you can't get anywhere closer to Real Robot than 08th MS Team's level, at least not for a Gundam Series. But then, 08th MS Team was probably the foundation for another, awesome, supposedly Real Robot series, known as "Full Metal Panic!", which is actually realistic, except for the protagonist's Arbalest, which is more of a Super Robot without laser weapons.

Ideon CAN'T wipe out the universe. The Ideon Gun can destroy a whole bunch of planets, nothing more. It's the Ide energy in the space that wipes the earthlings and the Buff clan, but the universe isn't destroyed, you can see at the end of Be Invoked the giant worms of that planet seen in the anime series alive and a ton of planets without a scratch. And is the Ide, not Ideon, who does it, because Ideon can't control the concentrated Ide and explodes trying to stop a Buff weapon.
