  • One of the best pipers ever, bar none.

  • I wouldn't mind betting Willie just brought his trusty old Naill chanter to the MacAllum workshop and said 'here, make this'.

Nice playing. Pipes sound a little dull (pitch-wise) for me, but harmonic and accurate all the same. :-)

  • Once again...you've got to love the tone of that McC2 chanter.

  • It's not an MC2 chanter, IIRC, it was a Naill.

  • Oh...nevermind then. To me, an older Naill and the McC2 sound virtually identical. The newer Naills, on the other hand, I think are just too shrill.

  • To Willie McCallum: thanks for allowing me to film your terrific recital. I especially enjoyed these Gaelic airs: they reminded me of Calum Kennedy's singing. Bob Ash (Surrey)

  • what are the names of the airs?

  • First air is "mo nighfan dunn ne neall shuilean" (I have a record of Calum Kennedy singing it, but might be something completely different as a pipe tune though!) The others I don't know, but I have Willie's address, so I'll write and ask him. I'll post the names, if I get a reply!

  • Hi again! I've had a reply from Willie: he confirms the name of the first tune as "Mo Nighean Donn", the second as "Oran Eirisgeidh" and the third as "My Joy, My Love, My Treasure"

  • Great Video!!!!!

    Best regards from Germany

    Andreas
