  • i was wondering why do they fill it? and does a person have to be 100 lbs over wieght to get this band put in?

  • DAM GOOD FOR YOU....I OMG DOSE IT HURT

  • Finally got it scheduled for 4/16 - Can't wait!

  • This is eased my mind about fills, great idea for a video. Congrats on your progress!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey Lady, gurlll isnt that needle big?! I go for my 2nd. fill on the 6th. I so cant wait. P.S.

    Your lookin good. Smooches!

  • @KantWait2CTheNewMe The thought of the fill is much scarier in our head, isn't it? lol Thanks so much hun!

  • Hi girl, each experience is difinitely different...mine is done @ the hosp. in radiology..see everything of the xray screen...doesn't hurt but he needle is scary as H...LL

  • @RosePetals65 Yeah our mind has a way to put fear into us but it isn't so bad lol

  • AHHHHHH!!! SCARY! I'm glad to hear that it wasn't too bad. Looks freaky though! :-)

  • Nah Shan, it's easy. I had no anaesthetic and found it actually hurts LESS than an injection because nothing's actually going into your skin - it's just going into your port. So there's more pressure but less sting. My surgeon won't use anaesthetic for that reason alone - because it hurts more than the actual fill LOL =) Mind you, I guess it depends how far down and deep your port is and where the surgeon has put it. We're all different. Mine's MUCH higher than in this vid.

  • @Annigetyourgun81 funny you say that cause I have heard the same thing... The numbing shot stings a bit but since I have never not had it I cant tell you which one hurts more lol

  • @LittleLessShan It is freaky lol... I was still nervous going in for my 2nd fill, not sure why cause it really doesn't hurt :-S

  • That is such a great video! Nice to actually see what to expect when I get my first fill...mine was scheduled for 4/9 but I will have to reschedule since I will be out of town....unfortunate.

  • @long97horn I hope you got your fill rescheduled! I will look forward to seeing your 1st update after your fill :)

  • @Bandstress It is funny to see how different things are for all us along our journeys...

  • lol oh i believe you..it just looks painful..i hope i get some numbing cream...shoot..lol

  • @clarienrich01 :) Get ready girl cause your surgery day is getting sooo close! Before you know it you will be getting your 1st fill

  • omg..that just looks like it hurts..i hate needles...oh man...anxiety

  • @clarienrich01 I didnt feel anything.. The numbing shot just burns but other than that it is painless :) I promise!

  • Oh wow...thank you so much for sharing sweetie! You brave girl! LOL.. Good luck with your first fill! keep posting :) GBY XoXo

  • @maxfaith28 Thanks so much! :)

  • HEY! You got numbing medicine! I didn't...the nurse just jammed that giant needle into my stomach lol. Awesome. Cool video, I was tilted in a way that I couldn't see what she was doing so this is interesting.

  • Thanks for this video, I have been wanting to see a fill. Is there usually that "searching around" with the needle until they find the port? I would be so scared that they would puncture the tube or something! I am hoping I get a numbing shot. Although, a shot to numb a shot seems kind of redundant? LOL

  • Wow!! It looks painful, but I'm going to trust you guys in that it looks worse than it is:-)

  • My mother-in-law just got the lap band like a couple weeks ago and I really don't get it...what are the fills for?

  • @120togo The fill is what creates the restriction to allow you to eat less and stay full longer... The band is adjustable so you can have as much or as little of restriction as you want... I hope that helps!

  • Oh wow, numbing shot? You mean you guys get a local anaesthetic before a fill? LUCKY!!! I just had my first fill last Thursday and there was no numbing shot to be found LOL. Thanks for the vid. I didn't have the nerve to watch when I had mine done =)

  • @Annigetyourgun81 Yes my Dr office does a numbing shot 1st, so its a stick and a burn and then on to the actually fill process. I am not sure if it is better to get the numbing shot or not :-S

  • I get a numbing shot too - doesn't bother me at all - even the numbing shot is nothing really. Remember too, the more weight you lose in your tummy, the easier time the doc has to find the port quickly without poking around. My doc get it right in with no poking. My first fill however, with a different office - was horror! But I don't think the nurse that did it really knew what she was doing. Needless to say - I switched!
