I actually love the rivalry of Carl and his father. Especially because its a battle of family with Son (Carl) and Daughter (Eda ) vs Father (Relius) and Mother (Ignis)

What I get from listening to this theme is a union of many string instruments probably symbolizing the togetherness a family is ideally SUPPOSED to represent; but the melody that is being played is contorted and sounds like a twisted rendition of a lullaby. That symbolizes the dysfunction going through Carl's relationship with his father the motion of the song itself sounds very much like a grim opera (Relius) and the other an angier more determined sound (Carl).

I'll be honest, when I first played BlazBlue, I could not stand Carl. At first he just seemed like an egotistical brat who had a weird obsession with his puppet "sister" and was after Ragna's Azure Grimoire. Then I played his arcade story in CT and found out exactly WHY he needed the Azure. Then CS came along and by extension, Relius. Now I can really sympathize with him. He's still on the lower half of the characters in terms of my favorites, but he's not way down at the bottom like he used to.

This entire setting is an abomination. The father not caring for his family.. father vs son... the dolls.. its so ugly.

The theme should really appeal to Carl users. The theme captures all the disgust in these events. After hearing this, Daisuke has lost my respect. Over time I've come to realize, it takes a sick, twisted and extremely sinful mind to bring such emotions to audio.

A father and son are NOT supposed to be fighting like this. Plus, put yourself in Carl's place. Half his family are now puppets, and one's a coldhearted bastard. Song probably shows how he feels.

I like to think that this theme isn't as intense as the others because it is mostly a one-sided grudge. Jourdal said it, Relius doesn't give enough shit for Carl to feel any sort of emotion for him.

To me, Carl vs Relius is just... really sad. Relius is cold and heartless, and I bet Carl is just thinking "WHY, WHY, WHY, DAD?! WHY'D YOU DO THIS TO ADA AND MOM!?" when he has to fight against him. And I also bet that deep down, he wishes he didn't have to.

I don't think Father vs Son is a thing really deserving of a theme like Nightmare Fiction. I'd say this one fits it perfectly.

It's not just Father vs Son: it's Father and Mother VS Son and Daughter!

The Character A VS Character B themes tend to borrow elements from both characters so I guess that's why maybe it's a tad bit upbeat compared to others.

I'll agree with you that Carl got better when they gave him more goals then just get the Azure.
