  • This incident actually spared BMW a major embarrassment. Piquet's BMW engine was apparently about to give up in the German (thus home) Grand Prix for BMW with their officials watching in the stands, thus Salazar pushing him off was very fortunate. Piquet also later apologised :)

  • Deinterlacing is your friend, learn how to use it.

The video is horrible, but still, a classic moment in F1 and Salazar was a complete tool.

  • who wants me to upload the full version of this race?

  • "aaand take that!" lol I love Murray.

  • Mayber salazar simply aquaplaned? It looks like the track was a little dark/wet there, it's abit hard to see.

  • 'salazar was probaly lucky not to be beaten up' :D

  • 3 times champion, 3 different cars and different engines.

here in Brazil he drives BMW M6 and dont care for speed cameras, which caused him some trouble with driver license.. I remember 1 year ago saw him leaving a restaurant with M6... FUll throttle burning tires hahaha

  • Which track is this? Is this the old Hockinheim?

  • @Spannerhead29

That indeed is the old Hockenheim, when it was Hockenheim, not that Tilke-fied crap that circuit is today.

  • Piquet was always rather tempestous when it came to driving, though Salazar should have slowed down before chicane. The interesting point is that Piquet's BMW engine was destined to expire a few laps later, according to the chief mechanic... So Salazar had actually saved the embarrasment of a blown engine at their home GP in front of many BMW bigwigs.

  • A classic. But "rarely seen" it certainly isn't.

  • @XPLAlN He means James Hunts comments. They havnt been aired much.

  • I've seen the incident many times but not the aftermath. Great upload mate.

  • Both drivers at fault. Piquet was one of the few Brazilians I really didn't like.

  • take that! xD

  • Having seen that again, I think it was a VERY ambitious move by Piquet. As he was being lapped, Salazar should have slowed to let Piquet take the line at the chicane, but Piquet was stupid to put himself in a position where the onus is on the backmarker to slow down and not take him out of the race. Careless driving by BOTH drivers.

  • piquet started turning to the left before he should, so absolutely piquet's fault... and salazar is not colombian, he is from chile!

  • Salazar was devastated by this accident because Piquet helped him at the start of his F1 career...that's why he didn't fight back when Piquet went for him

  • James Hunt certainly didn't hold back on his criticism! Still, it made him great to listen to, and he's sorely missed.

  • sorry Murray, but Salazar is Chilean

  • i was never the biggest fan of piquet but salazar should have been booted off his team for that bit of atrocious and embrassing driving

  • Piquet always was a bit of a douche!

It seems to run in the family...

  • AWESOME

  • hunt about salazar: "absolutely ridiculous"

    ahahahahaha

  • Murray: "the brazilian and the colo... colombian driver... " , sr. Walker, Murray is Chilean!

  • Murray, Salazar is Chilean, NOT Colombian (lol)!!!!

  • colombian driver ¬¬
