The first think I think of are the Looney Tune cartoons, because a few words from the song was used on a few of them. They need to do an album of songs from Looney Tunes.
I like Norah generally but this is a weak performance, perhaps Diana Krall will do a cover sometime. Until then I have to say my favorite version is by Canadian jazz singer, Deborah Cox with a lush orchestral backing.
I see right here the beauty of humanity, the soul of jazz, the essence of hard work, the outcome of dedication and masterpieces, beautiful music from a heavenly voice and beat, to a picture of human civilization as we know it today, huge buildings made by people, each building with a different story to tell, the golden era was more than golden, it was the beginning of life they way it was meant to be lived
@4everSolidSnake Norah Jones has a yappy little voice. Great singing has nothing to do with buildings or pictures of civilization. It has to do with the ability to drive people to emotional extremes and nobody today seems to be able to do that without resorting to perverse measures. I'm not accusing her of it, but this is the current state of music.
@49kasey wow, you're a clever one, then if that's the case in your opinionative comment, proceed to go to another video, I feel something when I hear and see this, so does that mean that my emotions are not valid? get off your high horse and don't say things as if they're definitive, i'm aware of crappy auto-tune "artists" from today, but not Norah, not for me anyway
@49kasey no need for apologies, i'm the one who got bitter due to my cold, in any case, i'm 21 so perhaps my preferences differ from yours, and if you're around me age, then we just have different tastes
@4everSolidSnake It's also due to what we're used to listening to. I'm old enough to be your grandfather, I'm afraid, but I've listened to this track 3 times now and she does swing but I just don't like her voice. I listened to her first album and kind of liked it but I wasn't blown away, I'm not sure why.
@49kasey I agree, she has no depth of quality in her singing and also her piano playing is very "choppy" - again no flow, listen to Diana Krall for some really Jazzy but subtle flow, and if you like this number try Jo Stafford and you will be amazed. My apologies for sounding negative - I just love great vocalists and wll played piano !
@voldpilot You are a gentleman; I mean no disrespect for Ms. Jones, she definitely has talent. I have several of Diana Kralls' albums and while I love her voice, something about her style just leaves me a little cold. But yeah, Jo Stafford was great, I LOVE the old singers! Everyone nowadays just seems so sterile! And the male singers have no depth at all.
@49kasey hey thanks for the kind reply, I also mean no disrespect to Ms Jones I'm sure she has a great following and does her best to please and as you said her style and voice just don't do anything for me, I guess I have been spoiled listening to the likes of Sinatra, Ella, Jo Stafford and all those great musicians who never really got the credit for the fantastic talent we were able to enjoy, you may like a number by the Manhatten Transfer called "On the Sunny Side of the Street" try it !
Hace 8 años escuché por primera vez a Norah y desde entonces es una de mis cantantes favoritas!

@4everSolidSnake Well, my standards are the likes of Sinatra, Ella, Billie, Sarah, etc.
Norah can swing on the keys and maybe she can sing at the same time, but I just don't like her voice.
Maybe you were insulted by my remark at your use at vernacular. If so, my apologies.

@haladin9 :
This is the style of Norah. If you need something faster you can only get it from another performer. :)
No offense, really.
If I need to calm down when I'm at home I just kick of my shoes and listen to this or any other track from her with a glass of whiskey. ;)
Thanks for posting.
