I only one question is it possible for more then one creature to block a monster such as. If I put down a if a friend put down a angel with a 10/9 and I want to block with a 3/5 and a 6/5 creatures so it could do 9 damage to kill it. Would that be possilbe? Also if this is possible how would it work, would the friend creature distribute it attack to doing 5 on one and 5 on the other killing both or my creatures?
@deckire You can block a creature with multiple creatures. Note that one creature cannot block multiple creatures.
In this case, the attacker chooses who to distribute damage to. In this example, the 10 power is enough to kill both so the order of damage is not really important. If he was a 9/9, then the 9/9 angel would only have enough power to kill one creature. The attacker would choose which to deal 5 damage to, and which to deal 4 to.
@RoadKillKoolKitty creatures with one cost will be able to be played in the begining, there is an effect called haste that allows a creature to enter the battle feild and tap as if it was not effected by summoning sickness.
@canadianhockeynut each player start with 20 life. you attack your opponent and try to reduce it to zero. there are cards that can let you have more then 20. like healing spells so then youll have 23 instead of 20. there are cards that steal you opponents life and make it your own. all depends on how you wanna win. with magic or monsters
@RoadKillKoolKitty Yes. Whatever the mana cost of the card you need to pay it with the corresponding amount of mana with the exception of lands which costs no mana.
@RoadKillKoolKitty You pick the lands based on what color your deck is. Also, some lands have added effects. As for the 7 cards, you draw them after you shuffle your deck at the beginning of the game.
Thanks @TheGinyu4ce! I understand that clearly... although I have one more question: when you use instant (or whatever that is) like what he did using giant growth, do you need to tap land (if it requires mana)? I'm totally new to Magic. I've been wanting to learn Magic since last year..
@anthrmthrfckr I'm new too, but all the instants I've seen require mana, so ya you need to tap a corresponding land. Instants can be used any time (according to my rule sheet) so if you got say Lighting Bolt that deals 3 damage to target player or creature, you need to tap a land first in order to use it. I'm pretty sure I'm right lol. what you should do is go buy the deck builders toolkit, it comes with everything you need.
I've been playing for 5 months now. It's a bit complicated, but I can learn it fast since i play Yugioh as well. As ToXiC said, get that Deck Builder box. It has EVERYTHING you need to make like 4 decks. Then get about $30 dollars, and buy some packs. After a while, the deck is ready for battles with pros and you can use some of the extra cards for trades.
so if i attack with a creature then use an instant like doom blade ( destroy target non black creature) on the blocking creature does the opponent receives the damage? same question for instants that tap creatures + can i tap a creature that declared attack i would appreciate ur help guys
@anthrmthrfckr normally blocking an attacking creature with any creature is enough to stop all of it's damage, that's just the way blocking works. But if a creature has the ability trample, then the damage it doesn't use to kill the creature that blocks it hits the defending player. So a 5/5 trample will deal 4 damage to the defender if blocked by a 1/1 while a normal 5/5 will deal no damage to the opponent if blocked at all.
@TuckerLikesEmily you draw one per turn at the beginning of your turn. you don't always have to have 7 cards in your hand, but if you have any more you have to discard them at the end of your turn.
4:44 - 4:55 now say that three times :P. No just kidding, magic the gathering = best game ever. All those haters on this page just don't know how awsome this game is!
So..when you attack with your creatures on your turn, you tap then and declare they attack? Do you remain them tapped so they can also block? And lands are untapped during the beginning phase, and tapped in the combat phase?
@dradone5 Yes you tap creatures for them to attack, they remain tapped. You can't use tapped creatures to block your opponent.
At the beginning of your turn, you untap your lands. You tap them when you cast a spell - i.e. summon creatures, cast enchantments/sorceries/ instants, or when you activate an effect of a card that needs mana.
@s4mis4mi An infect deck is a deck that plays off the creature ability "Infect."
Infect works just like Wither (Dealing damage to creatures in the form of -1/-1 counters), except damage to opponents directly is dealt in "Poison Counters." If a player has ten or more poison counters placed on them directly, they automatically lose. It's like cutting their life in half. The trick is to beef up infect creatures, since they are usually somewhere between 1/1's and 3/3's. :)
@saliimath If you attack with a creature by tapping it you cannot block during your opponents turn until the beginning of your next turn... Unless that creature has vigilance but lets not get into that.
wow this game looks sweet, people should stop dissing this shit! I play lots of games, and i dont sit around all day, and don't stay in my moms basement, i actually have a life!
@PokeTwilight what u think would happen... the 4/2 dies becauses the 3/5's attack is 1 more than its toughness (2).. and the 3/5 goes down to 3/1 for the turn, if it were to block again in the same turn it would die from an attack of 1 or greater
@PokeTwilight your attack gets blocked. [4] is your creatures attack and [2] is your creatures defence, [3] is his attack and [5] is his defence. If your offensive attack is lower than his Defence, then you will not do any damage, but if he has a 3/5, his card will be sent to the graveyard. --Hope that helps. :)
@jonathanboyd08 But when the 4 attacks the defending creture with a toughness of 5 which like you said have a higher defence will my creture be destroyed and sent to the graveyard? O.o Thanks for what you said its easier to understand it
hi,i started playing Magic yesterday and i have a doubt xD

@WantedMotherFucker i just started playing too but i know that a creature can only block one creature, however two creatures can block one creature... you would have to pick which creature to block... preferably the 3/1 since it will do more damage to your life
@MrMegashark1 kinda... it explains the termonology thats important on the cards... the whole planeswalker and different planes isnt needed to know... but stuff like "first strike" "haste" and "vigilance" are described on the cards.
@94micke I have been playing since i was 9 and i am 21 now and i get have times i am cunfused lol. but really it is a great game to play ( if you play with the right people)
I see they have the D20 dice keeping track of HP. I'm new to Magic but wonder, if a player's HP goes over 20 in a game, what method do they use to indicate this?
@VenomStrikeification More professional, too. Ulamog's crusher isn't bad, but it's costly. you need to make sure that you'll have enough mana to play it, and stay alive until then.
@Overtrex no. You can send in as many as you like, as long as you have them to send in. If you have two creatures, you can send one, the other, both, or neither. It's entirely up to you.
@2h4d0wDK For that combo make sure your creatures consist of green and you spells consist of white. and have some cards that can counter black because black is the enemy to both white and green. I have a Red Black Deck myself but thats just me.
@2h4d0wDK Perhaps add in a few things that can deal with a bit of blue countermagic, because a counterspel at the wrong time for you can mess you up good. I play Blue Control, so...
Very Important Strategy: Whenever possible, do things on your second main phase, not first. This keeps your opponents uninformed during combat. And the untapped lands you have during combat will have a detrimental effect on their decision-making while attacking. To them, your untapped lands mean "maybe it's a trap... maybe it isn't." Having all lands tapped, on the other hand, means "there's no trap."
How do you determine who attacks first? Is there a speed point or something?

I see they have the D20 dice keeping track of HP. I'm new to Magic but wonder, if a player's HP goes over 20 in a game, what method do they use to indicate this?

This is kinda similar to yugioh in a way. but it is more complicated then yughioh.
is Ulamog's Crusher a good card?
VenomStrikeification 1 year ago
@VenomStrikeification More professional, too. Ulamog's crusher isn't bad, but it's costly. you need to make sure that you'll have enough mana to play it, and stay alive until then.

wait does that mean that I have to send in 2 creatures during combat?
Overtrex 1 year ago
@Overtrex no. You can send in as many as you like, as long as you have them to send in. If you have two creatures, you can send one, the other, both, or neither. It's entirely up to you.

I would start making a White Grên Deck, and i would be glad if you gave any tips to me :D
2h4d0wDK 1 year ago
