@liddleNDNduckiee A close friend of mine, Emily Wynn, is one of the best musicians I've ever had the pleasure to meet. And it took her a good couple of months to get this ready.
@liddleNDNduckiee It takes about two months of practice to be able to play it flawlessly but to be able to memorize it and play it will take around four and a half months. But it's soooo much fun and you will gain so much respect with having a difficult piece like this memorized.
THAT took GUTS!!! I played that when I was 1st chair in FAMU's Wind Ensemble, but our whole clarinet section stood and played it. To do it in high school...ALONE, is nerve-wrecking. You did a GREAT job and should do MORE pieces.
Huzzah to Rachel! Your playing was both beautiful and with precision. You'll go far with your music. I pray you'll honor the God who gave you the ability to play the clarinet with your life, both musically and not!
Really enjoyed this. My son who is 13, is playing clarinet in school and in a youth orchestra, will enjoy this as well when I show this to him. Thanks for posting!
I am in seventh grade and I have been playing it clarinet for two years! My band diretor just gave me this peice. It's very complex. I can play most of it I just have one part I need to get up to speed. I realllly love this peice a lot!
You have a really nice tone, you are obviously a very good player. The only thing i would say it needs more expression. This is your solo so really make yourself stand out and shine! Other than that a very nice job. Well done!
wow, you are just superb!! Compared to me, you are like the godess of the clarinet. Your articulation is really, really good. The band is also great. Good job everyone!!
i thought this was great!!! the band im in ( a high school in alabama) is playing this for the senior soloist this year ... and so i know this piece (im one of the 1st clarinets for this piece) and i think you did an amazing job!!!
WOWZERZ!!!!! 4:03 - 4:37 was beautifully done! I have to do this for an audition and I can personally say that that part is the most difficult and demanding part of the whole song. Very well accomplished. Beautiful tone and the whole works. And and the end it seemed like you ran out of air. But them high notes are hard to play loud and long...SOOO MUCH AIR!!!
I wasnt finished and it made me cut out some lol. So the final thing is that you can play a LOT louder. like A LOT. I want to hear more of that beautiful tone!Onceagain, this is YOUR solo, and people want to hear YOU, not so much people behind you. You're obviously amazing, so show it and play out!
Hope this helps, just a little constructive critism. I also hope youre still playing!
You know, I think a lot of band people play softer than they should because there are too many people of their instrument, so in order to blend their sound with the band, they have to play super soft.
@clarinetgeek7299 I just want to point out that if you play too loud, you lose that beautiful tone that the clarinet has. I'm sure you're aware of that. Just wanted to point that out.
this is GREAT for your age- you sound amazing- wonderful tone quality and runs..just a few helpful comments.
Places like 4:05 and 6:00 should be a little less rythmical, and more fun! What I really mean by that is dont worry about the people behind you- this is YOUR solo.Have fun with it, make it your own!I really recommend watching the Stanley Drucker video of this!
JEALOUS RACHEL!!! WOW!! I played this as a solo for an ensemble and I could never have IMAGINED to play as amazing as that! :( no fair!! Great job! that was awesome.
Hi Rachel, I'm an Italian guy and I play the clarinet too: I'm studying the concertino. Great job, you're good. I'd like to know you: leave a message on my you tube account. Thanks.
This is really well done; not just by the soloist, but by the band also. This is a difficult accompaniment to make sound good. It is chock full of built-in pitch problems, but the band handles a lot of the well. Maybe the best band accompaniment of this on YouTube. Someone needs to post who the group is.
that's really great. i play the same concert now.. it's really hard to play for me, i think you needed much time until you could play it so well!? great!! really
That was great. I'm hoping to be able to perform this piece with the Richmond Symphony if I win the concerto competition this weekend, I've still got a lot of work to do though.
wow. that's played really well. i, too, am a clarient player and i have to admit that's really amazing. how did you manage to arrange a band accompaniment. what school is this? it's a nice band but i gotta say the uniform is horrible. lol, i'm pretty sure you think so too.
wheres the slow part between 4:40 and when she plays again!?
Other than that..... she sounds very nice!

Of course, Texas wins again in music. And they said we all wore cowboy hats and jeans...

Nicely done, but it's a shame they had to cut out the middle slow section. Could they really not spare the extra two minutes in the concert?
