  • I am so glad to hear a young person love this music. I am 53 and I love this music.

  • Carl Smith was a great singer!

  • Love the old motel signs...LOL

  • Great!

  • Carlene, you are so right! It is too bad there are not a lot more young ones like yourself that loves the older country music!

  • How about that ol country boy ?

    Great song

  • If all singers were like Carl Smith ..they would know when their singing career is over ,but life can be beatifull doing other things..I do admire him..

  • One thing I liked about Carl (at least so I heard), when he had entertained long enough and retired, he was happy with the retired life style and didn't seem to regret that his days in the spotlight were over. He was happy with who he was...not a big ego. ...Bill

  • He will be missed

  • Yes, My condolence goes out to the family. we lost another country great.

  • very good nobody can sang it better than him from kay

  • Love this song!!

My prayers go to Carlene Carter (his daughter)

    His music will be missed.

    Dianne

  • is one of the greatest of the great

  • There was a time when a singer had to be capable of singing. Not any more! The world it is a changing.

  • LIKE THIS

  • I think it was the late 40s or early 50s there was a country radio program in NY with Don Larken. You bought me back 50 years, Thanks.

  • This was off the album THERE STANDS THE GLASS all Webb Pierce songs but Webb is never acknowledged or mentioned at all in the liner notes.

  • I noticed that too. Wonder why they did that?

  • I'm sure it was simply that Carl was on Columbia and Webb was on Decca.

    Still, it seems rather silly.

  • You are probably right. My two heros of the steel guitar are Johnny Sibert and Bud Issacs, so I really love Webbs and Carls versions of each songs, because of the unique steel guitar work on both

  • i don't think there will ever be songs made like they were back then , to me they were so touching and the words meant so much

i will always love the old country songs with all my heart

  • I am a young person I am 15 and I just love Carl I wish everyone could love the old music and not the crap they got now where half of the people today aren't really singing it's a shame there are not more people like Carl and Johnny or Elvis

  • Great, great song! Thanks for posting it.

  • This is country music at it's best. I remember watching him as a kid, always enjoyed his music. Beats what they now call New Country. Thanks for posting this for all to enjoy.

  • I think Carl Smith does the absolute best version of this song that I've ever heard! What a beautiful voice that man had!

  • Is that ESTHER WILLIAMS at 2:39? She's so lovely.

  • @Jibbie49 Esther, YES. Fit in a bathing suit and could swim like a fish.

  • I listen to music from way before my time, I love all this old timers.

  • Very good!

  • When I was 12(1956)I had a crush on Carl Smith. He had the most beautiful eyes and and smile (even though we had a b/w tv. We watched the grand ole opry on saturday's. His voice was so sweet and the wonderful music on every song has stayed with me all these years. Thanks for the memories Carl Smith. I will forever be a fan

  • GREAT

  • what an awesome voice and the music....too bad the younger generation does not hear this.I have lived in the best generation of country music. Forever a Carl Smith Fan.

  • great ..thanks

  • great thanks for posting i love it ..

  • You can`t go wrong w/Carl or Webb. Thank you

    for sharing!

  • Jerryg65 I plan to post some videos as soon as I have time.I have Loose talk and You are the one and will post them.I will probably add Webb Pierce (Back street affair) too.

  • I love this song. Carl does a good job on it,

but I love the original version by Webb Pierce better.Thank you for this video.

  • Someone had Webb Pierce's version once before

but their account was closed-I believe it was Daltrock . Carl's best songs were "You are the one" and "loose Talk" from the early 50s.

    Anyone have them?

  • He was good wish he had kept on recording. His voice and style is great
