Nobody talks about window units g.e or comfort aire what's the process to recharge this units ?please can you make a video about it ? and let is know I'm eager to find out
@cubarico20 Most window units are throw away items. It's just not worth the trouble to repair a leak and recharge the unit. I do have a couple of videos about cleaning window units.
Hey Dr, I have read most of your threads. My ac unit always comes on & runs outside but since my last power surge (I live in Florida) the unit will not blow air inside/ unless I turn it off /turn on fam manually / then turn it back to auto --is it the capacitor ? or blower fan board ? an older unit but blows really cold air when working
hello, i have a question, can you use the same recovery machine for all types of freon? and thank you for posting your videos they are very helpful thanks again
Thank you Dr. Z................This video is worth a Million Dollars to me....Hope some day we run into each other in the supply house, coffee is on me...Asked many of my idiot so-called friends to help me in teaching me the order of recovering freon, Can't wait until they need a favor.... Thanks again...
I like you interest and concern of the few Blacks in the HVAC industry, I'm a 46 year young Black and have just receieved my certification, I want to know wha basic equipment i should have o hand and do you have a preferance of training dvd you would sugget?
In the process of entering the field, what is the best make of guages to buy? 3 or 4 valve type also? Will be buying my first set of guages and meters and would like some advise form a seasoned pro. also meters which do you use? all the newbies on line probably what to know this too. Thanks again!!!
that freaking g5 twin, is a good recovery pump the first day i used mine, the damn high side gauge on it.. the needle or winding screwed up.. its all wound out. sometimes i use vapor. depends on application. but yes liquid recovery 98% of the time.
im a student why hook the gauges up to the liquid side of the recovery cylinder? i have always used the vaper side when i recover is there an advantege for useing the liquid?
Hi Dr. Z, do you rely on the float in the tank, to make sure you do not overfill the recovery bottle? Or do you use a scale to make sure your not over the 80% by weight?
I am in school for HVAC/R right now and working on getting my 608 certs next week. i just want to say that i appriciate what you do and your videos are a good learning tool for many of us in the industry, keep up the good work!
I have an opportunity to get my hands on quite a few scrap AC window units. I would like to recycle them but first would have to empty the refridgerant. Can one of these recovery units be rented? Are they universal so to speak? How often do you need to empty the tank and where do you take it? Thanks, RB
Please demonstrate how the low loss fitting stems are adjusted (with a needlenose pliers) to avoid out of range stem depth. Out of range depth will create a large discharge refrigerant leak upon disconnecting the fitting. This adjustment is simple, quick and yet not readily apparent. Know the adjustement is there when you need it.
If you have a low pressure cut out switch wired in to keep the compressor from energizing in the event you get a refrigerant leak then you won't have to worry about the compressor running without oil.
I have been using my recovery unit here in the sunny UK.
Just a couple of points please.
I have watched your video several times and was wondering why you did not purge the pipe hoses ?..The reclaim bottle is normally under a vaccum, so you wouldn't want to suck air in would you ?...We recover on vapour rather than always liquid ??..any ideas.

u thought the 'out house coming from the out recovery going to the recovery cylinder goes to the liquid side 'the blue one'??? u have it in the gas side 'the red one' is that right or wrong? just making sure. thanks
You have just brought up a valid point. The red and blue knobs on the recovery cylinders aren't always color coded correctly. You always have to read what they say. In this case, the red knob was for vapor and the blue was for liquid.
Hey your flare style schrader cap came off easily by hand? What's up with that? LOL! I'm sure you already loosened it with a wrench and just had it hand tight to show removal in the video. :p I see you're using the same G5 Twin recovery machine that I have. That's the lightest and fastest machine I have ever used.
I do a lot of editing. I probably taped the scene with me using a wrench to get off the schrader cap and optioned to keep the part where I make it look easy.
$40 per ib of refrigerant good? We cleaned up the evap coil and replaced blower motor. But we are still worried about the 2/3 coil not getting cold and water spilling. We check the pipes and there is not clogging. The water does not flow properly into the water pipe it spills somewhere else. Our outside unit is 3 ton and indoor is 5 ton. We ask for hvac frriend to come look but was too busy and have not received help. Thanks for your help in advance.
I'd clean the evaporator coil and condensate pan before doing anything else. If the fins on the evaporator coil are eaten away then you most definitely need a new coil. If condensate still leaks from the condensate pan after you clean it then you could use a spray repair paint that's called Pan Patch or something like that. Although, you'd need to replace the pan for large holes.
Our 5 ton A-evap coil only feels cold, 32 degrees, on a few lower coil on the sides. 2/3 of the coils do not get cold. We opened it up to replace a blower motor. When it was working the evap coil was full of ice and covered with dust after 13 years of no cleaning and there was little air coming out and it was not cold. Are we low on refrigerant or is the evap coil damaged, it is corroded and it spills water because we think there might be a hole in the water collector. is $40 per ib of refri

@jessgatlin It sounds more like the thermostat.

@jessgatlin That could be either the thermostat or the fan relay.

What is the reason for recovering gas from a system? Are you planning to dismantle the compressor or wilding tubes?

I have a millon dollar air conditioner question. Why do some window air conditioners have "BLUE COILS" in the back and some newer ones don't???
fedders4 1 year ago
@fedders4 The ones that are colored anything other than silver have a coating that protects them from corrosion.

Hello,
I purged my hoses off camera and yes, you should always recover the vapor and put it in the liquid side of the recovery bottle.
