1) Bungie no longer moderate Halo 3, it's 343 (don't believe me, tell me why the bungie favourites are no longer updated)
2) The servers are not being taken down, not any time soon anyway
3) If they did want to take the servers down, they'd take them down. They wouldn't keep them up just because everyone played it one day.
