My mom was a dispatcher for 25 years.They have the hardest job IMHO.They make life or death decisions in seconds,they put their life on the line to protect YOURS,they keep our society from total anarchy,and they save lives.Leave them alone PLEASE!

  • @toxicityrckr You fail to acknowledge several officers have been fired/charged/prosecuted/jaile­d for violating rights, harassment, assault, etc... where the ONLY incontrovertible evidence was someone with a camera. What if you are getting jerked around and someone else is filming it? You would be happy then would you not?

    My take: If I am paying his salary (which I am) and he is a public servant, I have the right to film his activity in public. Just as they can film us.

  • @Joe6179 This is where misinformation comes from....if you are out in public you have no expectation to privacy and can be filmed or photographed at any time yes that included cops....some states have 100 year old wiretaping laws that were designed to go after the mob, and have twisted those laws to make the recording the audio part illegal. You dont need a permit or permission to do photography. The police want you to think its illegal because video and pictures DONT LIE in court.

To my knowledge they were all "eventually" thrown out of court...but....what the person had to go through was a lengthy bad experience. There are 11 states in the USA where you can get in some trouble for this. Unless you plan to be an "activist" on this subject don't get involved with it

ANYONE in public has no expectation of privacy but eavesdropping statutes aren't the same in all states. You may be well within your right to videotape an officer in public but audio is not the same. So, in what state did this happen?

We are not talking about our government listening to me talking to my mom on my cell. And for the record, there are over 300 million cell phones being used in the U.S. alone. However, as it stands right now, it's a class 1 felony if the on-duty does not consent or the recording is done secretly. So I answered (a) for you and (b) requires that you ask the officer's permission. "Officer, Is it ok that I audiotape our conversation?" Video and pics are ok.

If I encounter one though, I will pull out a camera and start recording, because who's going to defend me if the officer does something out of line? If he conducts an illegal search, for example, I need evidence, because otherwise, the courts will ALWAYS side with the officers. And no, officers do not get respect for simply wearing a uniform. The burden is on the state and officers are scrutinized more than ever. I have seen a lot, and I mean A LOT of people get off on the worst technicalities. I have seen people outright lie on the stand yet I still tell the truth because as much as I'd like to see them found guilty it's not worth giving up my morals.

Obama was talking about vetoing it because it usurped his powers to act on his own with out congressional approval. I don't know if he did or not I haven't checked yet.

Cops rarely enforce actual laws, they're little more than POLIC(Y)E officers because they enforce the policies of the Federal and State Corporations. If you agree that you are a 14th amendment slave, then you are also a corporation and subject to compelled obedience under the terms of that contract. Understanding the 14th and becoming sovereign or free is a key to getting freedom back.

  • @Hughster49 Yep, AND it was explicity permitted in the law before, so long as you INFORM the officer you are taping him, and/or make your filming very visible. he is a public official and may be filmed at any time without consent.

    If he doesn't like it, he shouldnt have gotten C's in high school and actually done something beneficial to society with his life, other than bullying people and destroying lives.
