Everyone knows Saddam was hiding Mexicans. Bush gave him a chance, he sent in inspectors but Saddam kept moving the Mexicans around so they wouldn't be found. Eventually it was decided--since no Mexicans were ever found--that they had been secretly shipped off to Arizona where they are running around headless in the desert and scaring the be-Jesus out of Gov Brewer and her brave Republicans. Now it is believed that Iran has Mexicans and they might be able to use them against Israel. Sad.

Nobody is ignoring what Saddam did! Everyone agrees that Saddam was a bully and a dictator and threat to his neighbors. But Saddam was never a threat to the US or anyone outside the region. There was no Al Queada (sp?) until the US got to Iraq. The point here is that we were led into this war under false pretenses.

@danielharmonizer Every measure of quality of life was better in Iraq before 2003. Nobody has forgot what Iraq was like before the war, but unfortunately, the quality of life is far worse because of the war. We took a mess and made it a much bigger mess.

The war was for the control of the Iraqi oil reserves. Saddam was not going to play ball with the western powers so the western powers went in and took control. Was it worth 4000+ US soldiers and 250,000+ Iraqi lives?

@stme2008 You must not be very old. This issue was talked about routinely on the then-new 24 hour news cycle. His people did ask for our help, but we weren't interested in taking him out of power at the time. In fact, we led them to believe we were going to finish off his administration, but let them down. They were then round up and killed by Saddam shortly after the war was over. But maybe you don't remember Saddam saying the war wasn't over, and we just left as cowards in 91.

As someone with family members who fought in the Iraq War, I found it very distasteful last night when Keith O. said our soldiers who fought in Iraq had fought in a "FALSE" war. @rohgenextfan President Obama was never in favor of the war in Iraq. The reason that 50,000 US troops remain there is because of the Status of Forces Agreement (SoFA) negotiated between the nascent Iraqi government, and the Bush administration. Troop levels and the timeline for withdrawal is more or less set in stone; President Obama is OBLIGED to abide by this agreement. You cannot blame Obama for adhering to an international agreement.
