Washington Post March was written by Sousa in 1889 for an essay awards contest ceremony that was sponsored by Washington D.C.'s newspaper, the Washington Post. The success of this march in the U.S. and abroad led a British journalist to titling Mr. Sousa as the March King. Another Sousa march, Liberty Bell, was the theme song for Monty Python's Flying Circus. And now for something entirely different...
