Well, I think it's better to eat a combo of both raw, and prepared, hot and cold. Tomatoes develop a healthy enzyme bacteria when heated, that is not found in fresh raw tomatoes......
That's probebly the reason vegetables taste different, once coocked, to raw veggies.
I'm Thai living in Thailand, and it's quite strange that why i've never met Thai Raw foodist before while in Thailand every fruit and veg are soo cheap? So now i might give Raw food a try.

What a fantastic testimonial! I have serious health conditions, which is why I started the raw thing in the first place. It does work, even with medication and nothing but gmo apples, oranges, and bananas (though that's not what I'd recommend).
Sunny is very beautiful, and elsewhere on YouTube you can see her in one of the funniest TV ads from the early '70s, for Clairol Kindness heated hair rollers. (The photo shows a woman in curlers holding up a yellow dress in front of a mirror.)
@summerperry No, with the exception of epigenetics, genes are largely stagnant, and do much to determine of our lifespans and heritable ailments; and there is nothing we can do can change this. Obviously not taking care of your body will lead to serious adverse health effects and increase risk factors, but the hypothesis that a raw vegan diet will give you increased longevity is simply unsubstantiated by science. A balanced diet of meat and vegetation is optimal for human health.
People need to stop blaming their problems on genetics. Your genes do not determine your future. Genes can be manipulated and strengthened by going on a raw diet. Or you can keep weakening it and be more prone to illnesses by continuing eating processed crap.
@dawes777 Of course genetic diseases that are not curable/preventable are another issue! But There are several genetic traits that are strongly influenced by environmental factors. For example your weight. You can have a very low metabolism and prone to being overweight but this can be prevented by exercising and eating healthy. Another example is teeth/jaws. If youre raised on soft processed food youre jaws and teeth wont develop properly (which is why people get overbites, crooked teeth etc)
I think she's prettier now than she was in the 60's! She definitely looks healthy and young for her age, esp her skin and hair. Her hair is silky even though she bleaches it...that sells me more than anything.
Oh, the classic logical fallacy of confusing correlation with causation. She looks great at her age because of genetics; the same reason Jack Lalanne (who propagated the bs 'juicing' craze) lived to 96, and the same reason that all of the centurions in the US (none of which are vegan) have lived to their age. Diet and exercise matter; but modern peer reviewed scientific research demonstrates that active human beings thrive off a diet low in sugars and starches, with a balance of meat and veg.
@RebelWrestler45 Maybe you are right and genes are a big part of longevity, but so is lifestyle!!! You can't chose your genes, but you can chose your lifestyle...
@Velasca Amazing, incredibly complex, stunning; absolutely. Miraculous; not so much, as there are naturalistic explanations for the diversity of life, and the origin of the cosmos. I really wish you hadn't brought up Peter Ragnar; he is beyond delusional. Not a single centurian in the United States is a vegan, Peter will be the first if he reaches 100. His psychology is bogus, his 'martial arts expertise' is fraudulent. Furthermore, I would bet a Ben Franklin that he's on HGH or Test.
@RebelWrestler45 It will be interesting to see what age Peter gets to. He's in his early seventies now apparently. I don't know enough about the longevity and diet stuff to comment but I've found him to be quite an interesting character from some of the stuff I've read... could well be a lot of rubbish, however.
@ingoFX There are many vegan centenarians in the world, particularly in nations which are predominantly Bhuddist. However, I was referring to the US alone; but it appears there is one vegan centenarian still alive in the US: Loreen Dinwiddie.
I'm surprised, as a lot of people have avoided urgent heart surgery just by going Vegan, adding many more years to their lives - or is it something to do with the US?
I'm not vegan - at least not at this point - my dad was a butcher ;)
He had 5 heart attacks in a row and is lucky to be alive today - the hospital staff call him the miracle man - he recently saw the eating dvd and wants to give it a try.
Also, I don't want to go through what he had to go through - specially with only a 1 - 2% chance of making it... which is why I'm looking at ways to make sure I don't go down the same road.
Hard to say... I'll need to look into it more, but I guess my goal is slightly different - not so much reaching the highest number, but being the healthiest I can in those later years - if that requires eating meat, great... but from what I've found so far, that doesn't look to be the case sadly.
@RebelWrestler45... before write this comment ,probably better of to try just 1 week -water,fruits ,nuts, and greens, and after...only after that it will be possible to conclude...
@RebelWrestler45 Ah, but does someone living to be 100 mean they are healthy and active at that age? My definition of good health is to be mobile, sharp-witted and active *without* the aid of modern medicine (surgery, medication, etc.). One could say my 92-year old grandmother is doing well for her age (as a life-long meat-eater), but the truth of the matter is she has lost a breast, had open heart surgery, is on multiple medications and uses a walker. Alive, but healthy?
@Yehudiim It is not possible to 'overcome genetics'. With the exception of epigenetics, genes are largely stagnant. We can reduce heritable risk factors (high blood pressure, high cholesterol, low testosterone, cancer etc.) by staying healthy for sure, but proper diet and exercise are not determinative of health; we are, and always will be limited by our genes.
@RebelWrestler45 - The point you are missing is how amazing Raw Vegans say they feel. Forget longevity and good skin, it's all about how you feel. And you just feel better when you go Raw.
@mikedowd66 Sorry, anecdotes are next to worthless; that being said, I went vegetarian for 2 weeks, and raw vegan for the next two weeks for a research paper for a 3000 level Bio class, and I felt by far the weakest during the raw vegan stage, and I was shitting my brains out. Moreover, I lost a considerable amount of strength during that single month, even while keeping my protein intake at about 140 grams a day. The raw vegan diet simply is not as healthy for an active human.

i tried eating vegitarian for a month but then i started farting like crazy all the time, like i've never farted that much in my life. that's the main reason why i gave up
@raider2661 that is usually from 1 of 3 things : 1) not eating good , 2) not properly combining foods, and or 3) the digestive system being weak. most often it is # 3 and it takes time and effort to get the digestion working great. Once you do it is very worthwhile.
@TheCoolVegetarian I might try it again, but if the problem doesn't subside i'll probably give up. I was farting and shitting up a storm, seriously the stinkiest farts and shits i've ever smelled in my entire life
@TheCoolVegetarian Yeah! It is never too late to go RAW. Because of this, I want to increase my percentage of raw intake to 80%. Also, I really like your website if it is yours. ha ha. I am glad I found it.

i tried eating vegitarian for a month but then i started farting like crazy all the time, like i've never farted that much in my life. that's the main reason why i gave up
raider2661 5 months ago
