When I first heard this on the Vienna cassette album I wasn't quite sure what it was I was listening to ..but I knew that whatever it was, it was much bigger the the sum of all it's parts especially with that screeching finale...which leads into Passing Strangers .... no going back then .
Midge sounds like he's singing from the soul here ..it's so pure and deep and The screeching fade in comback at the end ...it's fucking awesome .Warren ,Billy ,Chris and Midge and Co were top of their game on this .
It is unfortunate they made "U-Vox," but the album did have a few good songs (I personally LOVE "All Fall Down," "All In One Day," and "Dream On").But this is Ultravox we're talking about--all of the other albums were virtually flawless. Luckily they're back and will have a new album out before long!
'' all the boys are wearing blue tonight...see the shadows tailing me again '' great lyrics .I had this on cassette and wore it out ...the drumming and synth were so different to what was going on back then ......superb track with a wicked FO ending .
Foxx was a good front man but the parting of the waves was benificial to both respective parties. I think this song still captures part of the band pre-Midge but adds a new dimension. Robin Simon and Steve Shears were ok...but Ure, I reckon is an under rated guitarist....he could NOT have played with Thin Lizzy otherwise. He was/is an eclectic, talented muscian and a decent humanitarian. Good on you mate!!!! Yes as you can see Im a real fan
Vienna is their best album by far to me.The others had a few good songs but Vienna had a sound more pleasing to me ;it seemed more cutting edge and not so love involved.
this is one of my fav ultravox songs. I have the live version also and let me tell you, it sounds awesome. ultravox is one band I wish I saw live because they are awesome live. Just that I was not old enough back then.
I know what you feel, I rediscovered them recently but couldn't go to the UK last year to their concerts ;(. Happily I saw Midge Ure only last Sunday in Poland [Cracow] which was unforgettable :). Hope to see Uvox April 24 2010 in Berlin. Lol from Poland, where are you from?
LOL. California my friend. I've always been a fan of british new wave/synth pop. I have some UV live tracks and man, they must have been awesome live. Just too bad I wasn't old enough to see them live back in the days. My 1st & 2nd concerts were Elvis Costello / Attractions & the Police respectively.

This is a proper heavy sounding song......brilliant use of synthezisers and guitar and drums...powerful stuff

Midge Ure is not Dennis Leigh (john foxx) , but he drives a hell of a band nevertheless. This is a tribute to both generations of U-Vox.
