A break (or breakdown) pretty much occurs in ALL music. it's just an instrumental section or a section that differs from the rest of the song/flow/pattern.

Metalcore/deathcore like these, take that whole concept to an incredibly boring and lazy outcome, hence their idea of a brutal break. just monotone rhythmic chugging. No skill or creativity. ANYBODY can do it.

There are such things as good breakdowns in metal/metalcore/hardcore, but none of these songs display it.

i beg to differ, bands like unearth and Lamb of god show proper groove and flow in their breakdowns, and usually mix it up. Hell, even protest the hero wipe these guys off the floor. Breakdowns that are implemented for the brutal factor shouldn't be in the first place.

Please don't think I'm coming here to flame, but unless these bands seriously progress, (as in JFAC, reverting to trad, Death metal) then deathcore is dead..the same as metalcore...all the bands are jumping ship
