  • Not his last role. His last role was the title role in a TV movie drama, Terrible Joe Moran with Ellen Barkin and Art Cagney (Emmy for best support actor).

  • @billhause, actually you're right. But the very Ragtime was the last big screen film demonstrated world-wide with legendary Jimmy Cagney. He was a Golden Hollywood movie star, not the TV selebrity. With all due respect Terrible Joe Moran had a "limited release" in comparison with Ragtime, and for millions of people across the world the NYC Police Commissioner Rhinelander Waldo was Cagney's last role. His swan song.

  • one of my idols is mr james cagney

  • The casting of James Cagney as NYC Police Commissioner Rhinelander Waldo was rather odd as the real Waldo was a young man in his 30s during the time period of the story.

  • @victorbrunswick Even better is that Rhinelander Waldo was only Police Commissioner from 1911 to 1913.

  • "Get me some coffee and a roll." Legendary even in his final days!
