  • He pronounced it both ways, so get over it geeze! Anyway, looks awesome and finally be able to get one, just found a store that has them in stock!

  • it has two sets of straps along with the lock to make the sheath jump capable

  • The name Ka-bar is derived from "Kill a Bear."

It got shortened to Ka-bar, and is pronounced "Kay-bar.

  • You have to have Balls Of steel to go at a 1000 pound bear with a knife =P

  • No shit.

I ead an article in Blade mag once about that.

It was called "Deaths in The Cane-breaks", and guys like Jesse James would use dogs to corner the bears in the cane thickets then they'd stick the bears with Bowie's.

    Crazy Bastards.

  • Good utility knife; nice for camping

  • its pronounced kay-bar, not kah-bar

  • it doesn't matter which way you say it.

  • if you wanna sound like a moron it doesnt matter, its pronounced kay bar...always has been always will

  • HAHAHA!!! "i cut myself on it, it does hurt". yes thank god you told me that because i was just about to cut myself and i didnt know what it would feel like. woooh. that thing is mean lookin, nice reveiw and that knife is wicked bro!

  • watrhog or rat 7?

  • Hey please take out a ruler and remeasure the blade cause I just measured mine and the blade is not 4.5 inches. Also its a Kydex sheath.

  • No, it's definitely a plastic sheath.

  • No, he is right, it's a kydex sheath... All Ka-Bar knives that look like they have plastic sheaths are Kydex.

  • Yeah sorry bud bit this is absoultely made of Kydex, definately not plastic. I'm not sure about the guy in the video but mine isn't 4.5 inches either...funny how that works.

I won't even get into the thing the guy below said about this being a "really good combat knife"... (btw if you didn't get that, this is not the knife you want to try to stab someone with)

  • This is probably the last of my knives I'd try to fight with lol. Pair it with a more precision knife, like a mora, and you won't find a better duo for camping or survival purposes.

  • isnt kydex a plastic? sorry for my ignorance but im no chemist. i have a kydex sheath myself and it looks like plastic to me. its just a question. dont take my head off.

  • dude it has 2 snaps because this blade was design with airbourne troops in mind, its ment to stay in its sheeth given all the air rush soldiers get when they jump out of a plane.... i know YOU dont need both snaps.. but it wasent designed for u

  • dude, i want to get this knife, i cant believe i the small little 2.5 inch gerber knife, i believe it was called truss, or something like that.

what sort of knife is this by the way, military, hunting?

  • Get it quick! I believe the fixed blade Warthog has been discontinued.

As to what kind of knife, I wouldn't use it for hunting as there's no gut hook, but In my eyes, of all of the knives I've owned, this one is the greatest overall survival knife. you really need to take one out camping to realize how versatile the knife is.

  • I have one brand new for sale

  • its a really good combat knife

  • people,in a combat bade you dont want to have a (too)thick blade.all cool those blades hacking concrete.but combat is way different than hacking concrete.

  • wow...its pronounced KAYBAR

  • yeah I know, this was filmed almost a year ago

  • I want this knife so bad!

  • Also the reason it has two straps on the shaeth is because it is "jump proof," meaning it's made for jumping out of a plane.

  • His steel is CPM 3V steel he calls it F3V because the F stands for for Fehrman 3V because he has a heat treatment that is very good and probably the best heat treatment out there for this type of steel. I think his knives are worth the money, I can't say the same for the Busse knives although they have quite a following, I myself have owned them since about 1996. I was never impressed with the fit and finish, except on the new game warden it was OK but was not perfect, like a Fehrman would be.

  • Lol... "I cut myself on it, it does hurt."

  • damn i want one of those!!! :O

  • This blade can not be compared to the tilite. One is a folder, the other is a fixed blade. They are made for completely different purposes. For fixed blades I used to go with Busse Combat knives. Now I have started buying Fehrman knives. Chris reeve makes the best made hollow handle survival knives and his folder the sebenza is the best too. Cold steel makes very little stuff in terms of quality, and the KABAR is OK (you get what you pay for) 60.00 is a fair deal, but looks like a skinner to me.

  • Hey, I've been debating going with Busse or Fehrman. I'm leaning way towards Fehrman, but I was curious as to why you switched from Busse to Fehrman.

Just looking for a 1st hand opinion.

I have heard very good things about Eric F., but haven't received any response to my questions regarding his steel and knives. That disconcerts me a little, but only a little...

  • I switched from Busse to Fehrman because the fasteners that hold the handle slabs to the tang seem to be weak. I have seen several of the Busse knives fail due to this. Also the fit and finish is much better IMO on the Fehrman knives where Busse's fit and finish is not very good at all.

  • hey, do u have the cold steel ti-lite??? cuz i was wonderin if i should get a usmc kabar, this knife, or a tilite??? what do you think, in your opinion??? thanks.

  • i just got a ti-lite about 3 weeks ago, and i highly recommend it

  • thanks.

  • do you recommend it more than this knife? and do you recommend either of these knives more than an original usmc kabar fighting knife?

  • knifetests dot com did a destruction test on this model and it did well.

  • Did they say what it is intended to be used for?

  • The blade is too light to chop well and a bit too thin(imho) for heavy military/tactical/survival. The edge is wicked sharp - so basically it is a cool looking skinner.

  • Thanks

  • The kabar Short Heavy Bowie is a better all around wilderness carry around knife. This one will cut wood adequate and is extremely stout with a comfy, shock absorbing handle.

  • This knife seems to have a very wide, short blade. What is it's intended purpose? it looks as if it is for some specialised job, but I cannot envisage quite how it is meant to be used - is it a skinner?

  • i dont know

  • Can anyone else tell me what this knife is for? I am intrigued.

  • It's pretty much general purpose knife, camping etc etc. Utility knife.. well, anything that you can make with knife like that.

  • Like your music!

  • its probably just supposed to look cool.

also, a broad blade wont break while chopping very easily

  • wow man 70 bugs?¿ wtf in our country they are €140 i love america man im dutch

  • ok give me 80 bucks and ill mail you one!

  • lol

  • dude cool video and love the knife i almost got the warthog but instead i got the usmc fighting knife and it is stupid too have two snaps i mean its not going to fall out even if it has none and if both are snapt yule be dead by the time you get it out lol.

  • lol
