I have had the good fate to be able to go to Japan several times from America and I love it! Yes, the scenes in Japan are so typical of the countryside. A beautiful country! And this is one of my favorite movies..ever!
One of the best movies I've ever seen. Saw it many years ago. My best friend & I wanted to see something not from the hollywood crap factory. When the credits rolled at the end he asked if I wanted to watch it again... And we did! Back to back, it was that good. Subtle, funny, humorous, poignant, insightful, classy and just plain good!
i saw this movie on tv when i was little. it was with english subtitals but ever since i saw it i wanted to see it again and could never remember the name of it!!
The way i had been through was quite similar to the story of the kid in the movie. And, there's a "kikujiro" who eased my pain during the hard time also. That's the reason why i love this movie so much; and, i just can't help myself crying everytime i hear the song.
The soundtrack for the film is amazing.. and film itself is an instant classic for myself. It's such a great film. It never fails to make me smile. Kitano's performance in the film is also wonderful.
I love this movie. Kitano made a ton of gangster films and he also has a wonderful eye and a sensitivity as well. He did all of the angels drawings that appear in the beginning of this film and I was surprise to see he is also a huge comedian in Japan hamming it up on TV.
Really I don´t remember how many times I saw this film. But I only know that´s my favourite one. Each time I discover new elements, new expressions, new feelings. A simple story told by a genius like Mr. Kitano. About Joe Hisaishi, he´s like Nino Rota to Fellini. But he´s one of the most extraordinary japanese musicians nowadays also. Thank you very much for uploading this tribute. Greetings from Buenos Aires.
Takeshi Kitano's genious and comedic movie skills combined with Joe Hisaishi's Godlike music. This movie has taught me so much, and it still touches me whenever I watch it. Thank you for sharing such a great video.
