this piece is awesome- i got to play part 3 a couple years ago and i sucked at it because i didn't appreciate it enough to practice like i should have. i would give anything to go back and do it all over again!
you can go back to it anytime you want! just get together two other cellists that have the skill level enough to play them, get the sheet music for the parts, and play your heart out!
I played this piece last year (I had part 2), except the piano part was arranged for cello duo so we actually had five cellos instead. I think it is beautiful either way. What a great performance...
I really enjoyed it! The immanent beautiful emotions were, what crowned the whole piece and the sentiments' alternations made this interesting and inward. Cello duets, trios, etc. could be very harmonious together, that's why I really love the composition for more cellos.
However this video/this Popper piece actually touched me.. :)
well it would be fine with vibrato but they just didn't change the sound enough. Senza vib is a special effect that should be used sparingly. I think it would sound weird with no vib at all to support the sound.

Why so fast? What's the hurry? It sounds like they are just trying to get it over with.

I love . . .
the rugged look of that old cello on the left,
hot chicks who play cello with passion,
and the optimism of the comb-over hairdo.
Plus, the performance was spectacular!

Yes. Popper was all about relaxed vibrato, and pretty much, relaxation in everything. He aimed for the perfectly balanced, full cello sound.

A respectable, albeit heavy-handed performance.

at part 06:55 they are playing horribly because there shouln't be used vibrato! it's a choral.
