The only difference between a religion and a cult is membership. Lets face it, all religions eventually fade away like all others have over time. I'm an atheist. I attend a presbyterian church, have lived lived all my life with relatives ranging from diehard catholic to baptist to presbyterian, jehovah's witness and quite a few others. I've never tried to undermine their faith, never even questioned several things I felt were gaping holes in their philosophy, in fact, i never mentioned my atheism because of people like you. I've had my faith, rather lack of it, shaken before. But you merely confirm my lack of belief.

It's hard to talk about the merits of denying a belief. The very nature of the position (we don't agree with you on X) will lead the proponents of that position to talk about why they don't agree with you on X. Atheism isn't a positive claim. It's hard to list benefits of something that is not a positive claim. Whereas for theists it is very easy (eternal life etc.) Of course, believing in what is true is a huge benefit to being atheist.
You walk into this discussion with the idea that God exists and that you and everything your religion does is for the greater good and all opposition is evil and must be brought to an end... I don't have that affliction. I think that both Atheist and Christian and all other religious advertisements are rather pointless. The only way to genuinely convince someone that what you beleive is right is through word of mouth and conversation.

I think it's right to undermine religion. Religions are merely tools of social control, people see this and reject this. If there's a god and god is omnipotent, why do you need tax free religion? If god is pleased with your work why not provide you with all the resources you need? I could pray to Christ, Vishnu, Bacchus, Allah, Amon-Ra, Thor or Zeus. There's no proof of any of these gods, how do you pick which one to worship? Or didn't you choose? What if your god isn't the right one?
Actually, those Atheist ads are not out to destroy christianity, per se. They are an outreach to the growing number of people who are questioning religion in general i.e. "Don't Believe in g*d. You're not alone.". As for morality. If you look at world statistics, you'll find that the more religious a country is, the higher their crime rates are (U.S.A., Turkey, etc.) compared to less relogious countries (Japan, Sweden, etc.).

In my opinion the bible, particularly the old testament, does not portray God as good.
He is shown as being petty, vindictive, brutal, cruel, bigotted and in fact just about the exact opposite of being good.

People are atheists for normally two reasons.
1. They were raised atheist and don't have the desire to find this God because they are happy and content, plus see no reason to believe in a God because of lack of evidence.

Some ads are trying to, well yeah, convert or get people interested in non-religious, though it's hard for us because it's pretty difficult to believe something so chaotic. But there are those that are just trying to organize atheist and finally start that since of 'belong.' There is, I assume, just as much of a % atheists converts as there are xtian converts. A Bad Religion song goes "We've got the American Jesus, see him on the interstate!" You should look into more of their songs.

I've never tried to undermine their faith, never even questioned several things I felt were gaping holes in their philosophy, in fact, i never mentioned my atheism because of people like you. The very nature of the position (we don't agree with you on X) will lead the proponents of that position to talk about why they don't agree with you on X. Atheism isn't a positive claim. It's hard to list benefits of something that is not a positive claim. Whereas for theists it is very easy (eternal life etc.) Of course, believing in what is true is a huge benefit to being atheist.

I think it's right to undermine religion. Religions are merely tools of social control, people see this and reject this. If there's a god and god is omnipotent, why do you need tax free religion? If god is pleased with your work why not provide you with all the resources you need? I could pray to Christ, Vishnu, Bacchus, Allah, Amon-Ra, Thor or Zeus. Actually, those Atheist ads are not out to destroy christianity, per se. They are an outreach to the growing number of people who are questioning religion in general i.e. "Don't Believe in g*d. You're not alone.". As for morality. If you look at world statistics, you'll find that the more religious a country is, the higher their crime rates are (U.S.A., Turkey, etc.) compared to less relogious countries (Japan, Sweden, etc.).

In my opinion the bible, particularly the old testament, does not portray God as good.
He is shown as being petty, vindictive, brutal, cruel, bigotted and in fact just about the exact opposite of being good.
In fact I sometimes wonder if the bible itself isn't a test.
Wouldn't it be funny if on Judgement day all of the good, God fearing christians were told that they failed the test of being able to decern good from evil and were cast into hell while all us atheists ended up in paradise.

@fsuownzall Atheists deny God because we have logically deduced that God does not exist. Ask yourself this: why do you deny the Gods of other religions but not your own? When you have figured it out, you will realize why atheists deny your God (along with everyone else's).
Most of your questions are philosophical questions. Do you believe that matter and energy came from a God? Where did God come from? If you say that God is eternal, why not just save a step and say that matter is eternal?

When you say in your video that there are Atheist that say "you are Christian or religious, but I don't share belief." and you think that is fine and genuine. Well, that is all the ads are trying to say and to tell like minded people that they are not alone. That is all, the ads are not trying to undermine religion.

If you believe in God Jezuzfreek, why should you care about atheists ads? God will punish us on judgement day. Let us say and do whatever we want. if you have faith in your God you know we're going to be punished. So why are christians so angry and are trying to stop these ads from happening? this whole fake tolerance thing is geting out of control because both sides take advantage of what it means. they use this fake concept tolerance to take away our freedom of speach. if christians dont like a billboard saying "immagine no religion", they complain that they are offended and it goes away. if athiests dont like the pledge of aligence in school, because of the "under God" part, they say they are offended and it goes away.
both sides need to shut the fuck up and deal with it.

Some ads are trying to, well yeah, convert or get people interested in non-religious, though it's hard for us because it's pretty difficult to believe something so chaotic. But there are those that are just trying to organize atheist and finally start that since of 'belong.' There is, I assume, just as much of a % atheists converts as there are xtian converts. A Bad Religion song goes "We've got the American Jesus, see him on the interstate!" You should look into more of their songs.

okay so I have a question. Lets take the Bible at face value. God is good and created everything. then he makes humans and gives them this neat option of choosing between good and evil. if they choose good then everybody's happy, if they choose evil then they suffer horribly for infinity. my question is WHY WOULD HE DO SUCH A THING???!!! How can that be described as good?
