That STi had an awesome launch. It shows how beneficial AWD is in a launch. The M5 kept pretty good traction too. But not as well as the Scooby. What mods does the STi have?
I had a brand new sti last year, It is extremely fast, but it's so fucking ugly I couldn't bare it any longer and traded it for a used M5 which I have to say was a pleasure! It isn't as fast from stand still but who the fuck cares at least it doesent look like it belongs to Mickey Mouse!
you mean the STi looks like a Japanese Fighter Craft and the BMW M5 looks like a regular luxury car with alot of balls within. And it breaks easy, costs alot to fix and can't do have the things an STi can do. But atleast you look good driving the speedlimit... psh
u would be suprised how well the m3 and m5s do at autocross i have driven them and went into corners at 100 that said 50 of cours it wasnt a sharp ass corner it was on a freeway but all i can say is it was holdong on to the road like a spider on a web
sti has an adv. because awd but i drove an sti and after 90mph they are sluggish compare to any rwd v8 e39 m5 or the v10 e60 m5 m5 ia a lot heavier and even with traction control bmw will not put all the horses to the ground having traction control turned on actually robs you of your horsepower
BMW fans no offence but accept the fact it lost to an STI of course an M5 is faster its got 500 horses, but at a dead stop an STi can accelerate like 10x faster than a BMW can. if it was like a longer race the BMW would probbly catch up to that STI atleast it was probbly stock, now face my brothere 600 HP sti theres no stopping that thing, it could beat a lamborgini Diblalo. And theres people with 800hp STIs so i leave it at that....

Guys, that's an E39 M5, not an E60. ~4000 lbs, and 394 bhp. If the STi is lightly modded (exhaust, reflash), it's going to have a better power to weight ratio, so not only will it kill the M5 off of the line, it'll keep pulling (well, maybe not if you go over ~140. M-cars are beasts up top). They were ~$70k new, but you could get one now for ~45, depending on the year. Oh, and fyi, the E60 M5 is ~80k, not 100.
Maybe in a straight line with no traffic, but anytime maneuvers are involved, the STi will smoke it. How do I know? - done it many times with M3, M5 and Dinan
M cars are alot more car than any Subaru. Alot faster than my STi but I'm alot quicker off a launch, Usually 3 to 5 cars lengths before a big hp rwd car can get power down. When fully Race Tuned Your comparing a LeMans type touring car made to go 180+ mph to a WRC Rally Car made to go 0-100/130mph on gravel at insane rate with 300hp/400lb trq. O'ya and jump 100+ ft at 100+ mph
yeah the Beemer lost because it weights like 1000 lbs more than the STI and the STI would leave first because of the AWD. PUt the STI againts the M6 heads up and then say some thing
sti is a very fast car just like the M5, but when u got manual transmission on both cars, it all depends how good you are at shifting gears. i think overall, theyr about the same.
OK let me tell you something the M5 is a LOT bigger than the STi and a LOT heavier and it's rear wheel drive. If this was a highway race the STi would've got his ass kicked because the four-banger doesn't have any top end
