  • Gedge snarls more than sings, but it's still one of their best songs. Long live The Wedding Present!

  • Comment removed

  • Is he pissed? I was a huge Weddingpresent fan for many years. Didn't realise Dave was drunk here!

  • And Johnny Brown is the bollocks!

  • Gedge is good but Hunt is God

  • How many times did you jack off to your own words? Stooge.

  • The golden age of 'Indie'. When the word meant something. The culmination around the time of baggie and grunge of evolution in commercially successful rock. Nothing in terms of a credible scene in rock has really yet followed aside from maybe one or two good/mediocre bands on a very obscure avant tip. The bands and 'scenes' in rock which followed like britpop have been contrived, increasingly derivative, markedly less challenging and designed to serve a younger and younger audience.

  • @mrbiggles48 haha define obscure avant tip. i think you're just mad that nobody likes this band

  • @hebesphenomegacorona

@hebesphenomegacorona - Idid not say that or anything like it. Please read a comment and understand it before posting a comment on it.

Obscure avant tip see wikipedia article on experimental/avant-garde rock

    Hope this helps.

  • @hebesphenomegacorona I love this band!

  • @mrbiggles48 You sir have to take your head out of your ass :). Just because you don't see any new phenomenal bands doesn't mean their nonexistent. A diamond in the ruff is still a diamond :3

  • @mrbiggles48 Couldn't agree more

  • don't think i've ever mentioned this before -

    I couldn't love myself anymore

  • Gedge sounds like Mark E Smith - this is an outstanding song.

  • Class band. Some of their covers were truly awful but this song is GREAT.

  • Good ol Gedgie, love the Weds, thanks for this!!! :)

  • Very funny, wonder if he regrets getting that p***ed. Just recently seen them live, outstanding.

  • jajaja he is hiper drunk at this show jaja very funny!! jeje..great song! I enjoy it..the wedding present is a group with a very particular and personal sound..I enjoy them and I love them..

  • it was the year they released 12 singles, one every month with a cover on the b side. think this was the first one as far as i can remember so it was january, sorry cant remember the year. have all 12 7"s though. great stuffs indeed

  • The year was 1992 - if you saw them live in December you could get a "box" to put the 12 sigles in.

  • Saw them in York in '92 and got the box signed by Mr Gedge himself. Great night.

  • Really? I saw them live at Leeds Uni in December '92 but missed getting the box. But I was pretty drunk at the gig so I only remember half of it anyway.

  • what bleeding year was this perfomance?

  • Loved The Wedding Present..Thanks for posting.

  • they still have the coolest totp performance ever.

When they had to mime and totally took the piss by just opening and closing his mouth randomly then walking off before the singing on the track had even finished.

I would love to see that again.

  • Gedge = one of the nicest blokes & greatest pop songwriters in British history!

  • AGREED! I just saw him play in front of about 30 people in Pontiac MI and they were fucking awesome. And He was fucking dead funny in between songs.

  • agreed, peter solowka is quite funny as well... except he teaches me science, a bit different...

  • I was at that show, too. They could have just gone thru the motions, but they rocked it out, top notch.

  • That was a tasty show. They could have just gone thru the motions for such a small room, but they rocked it out, top notch.

  • david gedge sounds like he does on blue eyes cos they take the piss out of the bbc and radio 1,cos only john peel played there music, biggest piss take was when the played flying saucer on top of the pops, hands in here and music still playing, classic

  • I like the shout for Silver Shorts

Cattle and Cain is also a classic.

  • Thanks for the upload, this is awesome. Granted the MES vocals (and being from near Sheff myself i can appreciated the differences here) but so what, it still sounds great!

  • What's with these "He sounds like MES" comments? They both come from Ooop North, so no surprise there, not going to sound like Paul Weller or Nick Cave is he?...Nice to see the Weddoes doing a live vocal track on TOTP.

  • his vocals in this song are very similar to mark e smiths

  • his mum cuts his hair with tupperware scissers! :-)

  • can anyone post silvershorts plz|!

  • SILVERSHORTS!

great song, sat opposite david gedge on the tube about 8 months ago (he was clutching a copy of NME) looked very old & frail in all black outfit... real shame, brings back alot of good memeories watching this.

  • yeah! great memories. when indie wa proper indie and bands had proper bollocks about them. none of this wimpy shite wot leaks out these days.

  • Pob Dorringtonian - in the club! He only got the gig cos Keith's bird wanted to shag him...love from Barranquilla, turdy smasher!

  • ah wow, another totp wedding present.

This one with no arctic suits...

  • It's funny they agreed to even appear to promote any of the singles from '92 cause they all practically sold out in the first week of release lol

  • WHYS HE TRYING TO SOUND LIKE mARK e sMITH FROM THE fALL??

  • why not, better than trying to do a yank accent, dave g a big fall fan,its his tribute to a genius lol

  • when i broke up wi my fella i played an played this. this and dont laugh. what a band xx
