The golden age of 'Indie'. When the word meant something. The culmination around the time of baggie and grunge of evolution in commercially successful rock. Nothing in terms of a credible scene in rock has really yet followed aside from maybe one or two good/mediocre bands on a very obscure avant tip. The bands and 'scenes' in rock which followed like britpop have been contrived, increasingly derivative, markedly less challenging and designed to serve a younger and younger audience.
@mrbiggles48 You sir have to take your head out of your ass :). Just because you don't see any new phenomenal bands doesn't mean their nonexistent. A diamond in the ruff is still a diamond :3
jajaja he is hiper drunk at this show jaja very funny!! jeje..great song! I enjoy it..the wedding present is a group with a very particular and personal sound..I enjoy them and I love them..
it was the year they released 12 singles, one every month with a cover on the b side. think this was the first one as far as i can remember so it was january, sorry cant remember the year. have all 12 7"s though. great stuffs indeed
Really? I saw them live at Leeds Uni in December '92 but missed getting the box. But I was pretty drunk at the gig so I only remember half of it anyway.
they still have the coolest totp performance ever.
When they had to mime and totally took the piss by just opening and closing his mouth randomly then walking off before the singing on the track had even finished.
david gedge sounds like he does on blue eyes cos they take the piss out of the bbc and radio 1,cos only john peel played there music, biggest piss take was when the played flying saucer on top of the pops, hands in here and music still playing, classic
Thanks for the upload, this is awesome. Granted the MES vocals (and being from near Sheff myself i can appreciated the differences here) but so what, it still sounds great!
What's with these "He sounds like MES" comments? They both come from Ooop North, so no surprise there, not going to sound like Paul Weller or Nick Cave is he?...Nice to see the Weddoes doing a live vocal track on TOTP.
great song, sat opposite david gedge on the tube about 8 months ago (he was clutching a copy of NME) looked very old & frail in all black outfit... real shame, brings back alot of good memeories watching this.
Gedge snarls more than sings, but it's still one of their best songs. Long live The Wedding Present!

The year was 1992 - if you saw them live in December you could get a "box" to put the 12 sigles in.

Saw them in York in '92 and got the box signed by Mr Gedge himself. Great night.

AGREED! I just saw him play in front of about 30 people in Pontiac MI and they were fucking awesome. And He was fucking dead funny in between songs.

I was at that show, too. They could have just gone thru the motions, but they rocked it out, top notch.

That was a tasty show. They could have just gone thru the motions for such a small room, but they rocked it out, top notch.
