I'll be working on a new music video in the future (I know, it's been 3 years). Let's hope the copyright companies play nice and agree with my new rendition!
One of the best movies I've ever seen :) It was historic and epic at the same time! It was wonderful, and this song is as well, it mixes well and makes the scene all the more better.
this is just a glimps of the life of a samurai, there are many branches that come from this one but the notion of death is one always in mind of every true warrior.
@EleazarAlmazan I'm not sure if this is a remix. You'll have to forgive me as I made this video a long ways back. However, I do believe there are a couple of renditions of this song (all of course by Yoshida Brothers). I own several of their CD's. The song in this video could have come off of one of 3 different discs. All of the mp3 rips are different in some way because of this.
Also ninja don't just run up and stay and fight to the death. That's just stupid. This is NOT the way REAL ninjas fight even though it makes for a great heroic scene lol
@xBradums not the same social caste. They are both warriors but the ninja are "dishonorable" there is a misrepresentation of them comin from the same social caste due to some samurai coming up with ideas which would soon be almost the same ideas the ninjas used. The ninjas were taken from the poor peasants in the poor areas of Japan because nobody cared or knew of them.
Like the other guy said...ninja and samurai are derived from the same caste. The difference is their code of conduct and methods of combat. Samurai are the traditional warrior, fighting in the open for fame and glory by traditional means on the battlefield. Ninja prefer stealth and technique, using tools and accessories to strike a vulnerable enemy. Similar classes, but very different in methods and beliefs.
@xBradums not really ninja did fight on battefields , and the ninja where not from the same cast of ppl as samurai , they where farmes , take a look at some stuff on ere you will find out alot to do on ninja history
Hmm I never think too much about the vid and I just enjoy the music.. This video really fits with the music though, it looks like they fight on the rythm of the music, it looks really cool!^^
The timing of this is, well, near perfect. the only area where i think it needed to be synched better was at the end as the scene faded to the cherry blossom trees, and the music was still rather intense.
@perfektgold the ninjas are derivated from the samurais and everyone went to diferent ways, he samusais followed the honor code, in the other hand, the ninjas didn't want to follow it, and made them way, but i'm sure the ninjas aren't faster than samurais, they are equal
@perfektgold your a complete idiot.ninjas arent faster ore stronger than samurai, they are mostly equal and acually ninja are samurai too most dont follow bushido honor.and to all, ninjas arent asassins, they are to spy out the enemy, steal freakin scrolls ore whatever.yes they carry a sword, but they avoid fighting they arent always asassins.and in'realife'if this was an asassination job there would be 1 ninja to asassinate kazumoto and he would 1 shot him and dissapear.no need for a whole squad
@shawtyloh Actually durring this period, Ninja were typically less like samurai Esp after Edo If i recall correctly. The shogun had basicaly employed Ninja enforcers and guards.
The thing is, most people assume ninja did a lot of fighting, and like you said, they could, but often didn't. What makes any spec ops unit so deadly is their precise application of violence. They spend a lot of time picking and choosing a target and a means to kill it. Unlike an open battle.
@D3mang3l alot of true stories about their assasinations werent them in black outfits and highly armed it was them using the are of invisibility by simply looking as though they belonged where they were and could easily get close like that at least the one i recal lol but again one of the things that makes Spec ops just that leathal
@Black1625 I recall of a family in Japan (about maybe five or more years ago) that had buried one of their elders, possibly the grandfather.
As they were going thru his things, they found a hidden trunk that was locked.
When they opened it... they found his Ninja outfit, weapons and some documents linking him to the gov (local, state, fed - not sure) that he was employed as a ninja, pics, citations, etc.
Historically ninja have never dared to engage samurai in a direct fight. They kill samurai yes, but only through assasination. Once the samurai is in range the ninja stands no chance.
I must cogragulate you on this vid. You timed the music and the vid perfectly like when the music hit i suspense so would the video and not many can or will do that wether this was on acident or on purpose i don't care it was great

It was during WWII, but it was used innocently before then and people are swiftly beginning to forget that the term ever had any bad connotations. Personally I'd be glad to see another annoying PC stigma die.
The ninja was sent by Omura to kill him. Ninjas were great warriors and assasins hired by Shoguns to kill other Shoguns or great Samurai. Very good montage, i like the band, that movie, and Japan itself :)
What I was saying was a reference. Omura being a wealthy Japanese buisness man, he had the money to hire Ninjas to attack Katsumoto, as Shoguns would have done before him. I guess I didnt write it properly. My bad! And once again, very good montage, go Japan and Japanese culture!
LOL sorry I didnt write that properly, my bad! What i meant to say was since Omura was wealthy, he had the money to hire Ninjas to go after Katsumoto, as Shoguns had done prior to him. Sorry if it looked as if I was saying their were more than one Shogun! And again, great montage, very well done! Good Mix!
no need to fade out you fking moron. thats the whole point of a shamisen and this whole video. shamisen's are supposed to give a strong impression yet its not overwhelming
Nicely done! I really like that scene from the film. And to answer all those guys arguing over all this... It was just a movie, never intended to convey a spiritual message or teach a history lesson. And to answer someone else out there, Samurai were a caste. Nobles from other cultures weren't inducted into their ranks. At certain points in Japanese history, anyone with a sword could call himself samurai, but that didn't make it so. Foreigners, gaijin, were not allowed to be samurai.
A lot depend on talent and techer. Six month is lot of time, specialy wenn you practic evrey day for few houers. I remeber a girl, we start at the same time but she was twice beter then me.
you mean to tell me that depicting a foreigner, let alone TOM EFFIN CRUISE to be the titular LAST Samurai is not demeaning to the Samurai?
Besides, the whole movie is just Hollywood bullshit, none of that ever happened like they portrayed it to be.
For me, it was just made to stroke Cruises ego by letting him pose with swords, of which he has no clue. I mean darn, learning kenjutsu on the level of a hardened samurai who was taught that from the crib on over the course of one winter? YEAH RIGHT
Tom Cruise is not meant to be the Last Samurai. The movie actually has historical background and is based on Saigo Takamori and his battle against the government. This was the last big battle of the samurai, so yeah, hence the name Last Samurai.
But you're right of course with learning fighting and stuff. But hey, this is a movie so it's okay. And for a holiwood movie I thought it wasn't that bad when you look at the background.
be that as it may, the normal moviegoer got just that idea. "My gawd, Tom Cruise IS the last samurai... wow, that's clever!" was just one opinion I heard, and it was made in earnest.
sure, landscape and photography are pretty good, but I cringed at Tom Cruise "suddenly" understanding the sword and double-wielding two daitos... it was horrible.
You're missing the spirit of the film, that being that the character Cruise is playing is the reincarnation of a great Samurai warrior of old. He doesn't "suddenly" understand the sword - in time of great peril his spirit REMEMBERS the sword. The nature of a true Samurai come from within.
Alright.... I haven't seen the film in a long time, but at what point was this implied? This film had no supernatural touch to it, but how did you reach that conclusion?
If anything, saying that he is a reincarnation undermines the whole point of the movie, which is that even foreigners with due respect for the culture can be accepted there.
And if he could just "remember" it, why in the hell would he have to train then?
That is about the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!
Vares65 DOES have the right idea. I just watched the film again, and at the start when katsumoto is meditating he has a vision of Algren, as a white tiger of warrior spirit, when he is surrounded by samurai after the first battle. That is why he let him live, despite any dialogue about wanting to 'know his enemy'.
I was under the impression that to be a samurai was to embrace a certain way of life and custom. Race did not come into it - hence the fact several notables from other races were inducted. the only reason the majority of all samurai were japanese was due to the fact that.. it was a ideal that originated in japan?
you were there? so you know exactly how it happened? :P. yes, the film is hollywood, lets face it, its impossible to make acting totally realistic. twat.
Oh, and the film would have been a bit dull if it was entirely composed of the american training, dont you think? I havnt seen the film in a while, so im not sure bu - how can you be sure it was just one winter? we dont know the supposed lengths of time between each event in the film. :P. Plus, as cruise's character was already an elite soldier, with experience in swords also (no matter which type), probably puts him on the fast track for being a good samurai, right? The basics would be there.
Soldiers during the Civil War obviously used guns more before drawing their sword, and even when they did, it was often among the last things they did.
That, and they used sabre, a blade reminiscient but, when it comes down to it, a totally different weapon than the katana.
It's sorta saying that if you do boxing, you're also able to easily learn, say, Karate or whatever... it's using the same principles yeah, but it is different stuff and it can't be compared.
Thats pretty much entirely what i said you fucking mug. (as cruise's character was already an elite soldier, with experience in swords also (no matter which type), probably puts him on the fast track for being a good samurai, right? The basics would be there.). THE BASICS WOULD ALREADY BE THERE. Therefore becoming proficient with a different type of blade would still come naturally to him. Same applies to your crappy theory about boxing and karate.
I won`t start a big discussion here, it`s pointless, but: Maybe one can when really talentet and singledy tutored everyday for hours learn a style fast I`ll give you that, but at the end he beats his teacher, a very proficient fighter who trained all his life in the Arts, well, NO. And for the spirit thing: Discuss either the real world or the mystics, do not mix. And IMHO: It is not always good to be proficient in one style and then learn another. you get wrong reactions based on the old style
You're clearly a monkey. He didnt beat Ujio, it was a DRAW. And for 'the spirit thing' - what are you talking about? What you said makes no sense. 'Discuss either the real world or the mystics' wtf? lol - The film, DOES in fact hint that Algren is the reincarnated soul of an ancient warrior - the japanese do believe in the 'wheel of life', correct? So shut up.
And no, you wont start a big discussion here, i agree, it IS pointless. Because your fucking wrong :)
Monkeys are quite clever, thanks. Hm, I think you use the argument "reincarnation" to back your argumentation that one can learn a martial art faster by using Algren as a example. You mix fiction ( the movie) and reality: The question if one could learn that fast. In film, yes. In reality: I don't think so. And based on my experience: If you learn a new system the reflexes you learned in the old system interfere with the new techniques.
Dear L0udMaN, I'm trained in Eskrima, Kendo und know a little bit about european fencing with the saber and the rapier, a friend of mine trains these fine weapons, AND: It IS different. OK, timing, distance, rhytm is always the same, especially in comparing Eskrima to european fencing, but the techniques ARE different, so one cannot learn to be a very good fighter in just 6 months regardles the style and what he trained before
The techniques are different, but the fundamentals are the same - an already proficient warrior could learn a new fighting style in 6 months. It is not hard to learn new techniques for a new weapon if the agility, coordination, reaction time and warrior instinct is already there, especially if taught by a master/s in the art - in this case we se 'Ujio' giving a fair amount of training to Algren. This film is not unrealistic in that sense.
Its a little late, I know, but that shinobi was too preoccupied applying the brunt of his weight towards trying to push Cruise down toward the floor, and thus slitting his throat (watch again and you'll see there is a sword right under Cruise's throat while the shinobi pins him down). If he had relented for even a second, he would have given Cruise's character the opportunity to get up, and the shinobi would have lost the upper hand, which he had while pinning down Cruise.
Funny you should say that, b/c I actually have this on two or three of my ITunes' playlists. As for your regarding my 'scene review' as 'dumb', the subject came up in the comment section, so I decided to address it with my own opinion. Honestly, I think the quality of the song speaks for itself, though that is my own opinion. If you're going to attack me for not commenting on one particular aspect of a video, you may find yourself doing a lot of 'commenting' in the future.
whatever man.. i just told that coz i didnt see anything bout the song on ur comment..i wasnt attacking u or anything..as long as u know the song and u like/dislike it, its cool... peace..
it's okay... just enjoy the music.. and most people these days don't respect if you try to share your views on something specific. infact you have to explain yourself to everybody for one line you type..
Thanks. Actually, the guy who commented on my comment and I have reached an understanding, and now we keep in touch. I agree, though, you sometimes have to explain yourself to everyone, but I think that opening up on a personal level can have it benefits, and be the foundation of honest relations, even if brief, on the net. :)
like I said previously, I just threw it together... this was more of a check to see if a video would upload properly (internet is acting wonky). Sorry if its not all that entertaining...
im sorry dude( i mean good job)but this was a horrible movie, tom cruise as the last samurai, so wrong. man Saigo Takamori would be tossing in his grave right now. its an insult to the Japanese nation. and now the Yoshida brothers
Are you even Japanese? You realize most of the actors in the movie are Japanese right? Why weren't they offended? Why did Japan allow this 'insult' of a movie to be filmed there then? Why did Japan allow the movie to premiere there and to be played/sold there? Why did so many people buy the movie in Japan?
I could be wrong tho you could be the cultural ambassador for Japan AND the Yoshida brothers.
yeah your definatly wrong, i am only an offended individual, who is trying to keep the history of the past straight and not mixed with lies. and in case your wondering asshole, Saigo along with many Japanese men died in an honerable battle against a change which threatened Japan's as well as the emperor's future. so the next time you go writing bullshit, stop look up some info and show some respect for the dead,if you died for what you believe in and they made an incorrect movie, u would b mad 2
Hey thanks for answering all of my questions and not going on some unrelated rant.
...OH WAIT!
Anyway its a movie, not a documentary. People don't pay to see a movie so they can be educated on history they pay to be entertained. They want history they can buy a book on it. Any less than retarded individual can discern movie entertainment from historical fact. I guess you didn't catch that so I explained it for your stupid ass. Now thank me and stop being such a butt-hurt titty baby bitch.
butt-hurt titty baby bitch, wow, thats pretty retarded, so tell me are you a femanist negro, cause thats what it sounds like, dont preach man im just saying that its an insult, and now im saying your a fag, get over it! no one cares, ok. like just cool the jets man,or girl, get a girlfriend and discuss issues like this with her, cause your just wasting space on this page and wasting my time, so shut the lips and suck these nuts. hey where did you get those?
lol I love how an 18yo keyboard warrior from canada is trying to speak for what offends the Japanese nation. I get it, you're a weeaboo. You aren't happy with your own culture so you want to take on Japanese culture as your own then get all offended. Its cute it really is. Mostly sad and childish but ehh whatever.
BTW You've used the word 'your' wrong every single time it appears in your faggotty posts that are already riddled with spelling errors and you call something I say retarded? GG nub.
actually thats weird, your right that im not satisfied with the canadian culture, but yeah i have tried to integrate the japanese culture as my own. where did you get those?
Yeah, I think you did the notes as sword strokes rather well. Nicely done.

What I was saying was a reference. Omura being a wealthy Japanese buisness man, he had the money to hire Ninjas to attack Katsumoto, as Shoguns would have done before him. I guess I didnt write it properly. My bad! And once again, very good montage, go Japan and Japanese culture!
niHonRanDomSnippeR 2 years ago
LOL sorry I didnt write that properly, my bad! What i meant to say was since Omura was wealthy, he had the money to hire Ninjas to go after Katsumoto, as Shoguns had done prior to him. Sorry if it looked as if I was saying their were more than one Shogun! And again, great montage, very well done! Good Mix!

why did the ninja go after katsumotto?

no need to fade out you fking moron. thats the whole point of a shamisen and this whole video. shamisen's are supposed to give a strong impression yet its not overwhelming
dajjasheek88 2 years ago
Other than the fact that there was no fade out at the end the video was almost perfect. Very nicely done! Thanks for posting!
Delmo67 2 years ago
Nicely done! I really like that scene from the film. And to answer all those guys arguing over all this... It was just a movie, never intended to convey a spiritual message or teach a history lesson. And to answer someone else out there, Samurai were a caste. Nobles from other cultures weren't inducted into their ranks. At certain points in Japanese history, anyone with a sword could call himself samurai, but that didn't make it so. Foreigners, gaijin, were not allowed to be samurai.

movie was a mockery of the actual samurai

Im curious why you say so...Its not really an insult...*shrug*
CrescentShadow234 3 years ago
you mean to tell me that depicting a foreigner, let alone TOM EFFIN CRUISE to be the titular LAST Samurai is not demeaning to the Samurai?
Besides, the whole movie is just Hollywood bullshit, none of that ever happened like they portrayed it to be.
For me, it was just made to stroke Cruises ego by letting him pose with swords, of which he has no clue. I mean darn, learning kenjutsu on the level of a hardened samurai who was taught that from the crib on over the course of one winter? YEAH RIGHT
Nelogenazea 3 years ago 3
Tom Cruise is not meant to be the Last Samurai. The movie actually has historical background and is based on Saigo Takamori and his battle against the government. This was the last big battle of the samurai, so yeah, hence the name Last Samurai.
But you're right of course with learning fighting and stuff. But hey, this is a movie so it's okay. And for a holiwood movie I thought it wasn't that bad when you look at the background.
sunshine86ribon 3 years ago 2
be that as it may, the normal moviegoer got just that idea.
Nelogenazea 3 years ago
You're missing the spirit of the film, that being that the character Cruise is playing is the reincarnation of a great Samurai warrior of old. He doesn't "suddenly" understand the sword - in time of great peril his spirit REMEMBERS the sword. The nature of a true Samurai come from within.
Vares65 2 years ago
Nelogenazea 2 years ago
Vares65 DOES have the right idea. I just watched the film again, and at the start when katsumoto is meditating he has a vision of Algren, as a white tiger of warrior spirit, when he is surrounded by samurai after the first battle. That is why he let him live, despite any dialogue about wanting to 'know his enemy'.
L0udMaN 2 years ago
I was under the impression that to be a samurai was to embrace a certain way of life and custom. Race did not come into it - hence the fact several notables from other races were inducted. the only reason the majority of all samurai were japanese was due to the fact that.. it was a ideal that originated in japan?
you were there? so you know exactly how it happened? :P. yes, the film is hollywood, lets face it, its impossible to make acting totally realistic. twat.
L0udMaN 2 years ago
Oh, and the film would have been a bit dull if it was entirely composed of the american training, dont you think? I havnt seen the film in a while, so im not sure bu - how can you be sure it was just one winter? we dont know the supposed lengths of time between each event in the film. :P. Plus, as cruise's character was already an elite soldier, with experience in swords also (no matter which type), probably puts him on the fast track for being a good samurai, right? The basics would be there.
L0udMaN 2 years ago
Soldiers during the Civil War obviously used guns more before drawing their sword, and even when they did, it was often among the last things they did.
That, and they used sabre, a blade reminiscient but, when it comes down to it, a totally different weapon than the katana.
It's sorta saying that if you do boxing, you're also able to easily learn, say, Karate or whatever... it's using the same principles yeah, but it is different stuff and it can't be compared.
Nelogenazea 2 years ago
Thats pretty much entirely what i said you fucking mug. (as cruise's character was already an elite soldier, with experience in swords also (no matter which type), probably puts him on the fast track for being a good samurai, right? The basics would be there.). THE BASICS WOULD ALREADY BE THERE. Therefore becoming proficient with a different type of blade would still come naturally to him. Same applies to your crappy theory about boxing and karate.
L0udMaN 2 years ago
I won`t start a big discussion here, it`s pointless, but: Maybe one can when really talentet and singledy tutored everyday for hours learn a style fast I`ll give you that, but at the end he beats his teacher, a very proficient fighter who trained all his life in the Arts, well, NO. And for the spirit thing: Discuss either the real world or the mystics, do not mix. And IMHO: It is not always good to be proficient in one style and then learn another. you get wrong reactions based on the old style
oron1977 2 years ago
You're clearly a monkey. He didnt beat Ujio, it was a DRAW. And for 'the spirit thing' - what are you talking about? What you said makes no sense. 'Discuss either the real world or the mystics' wtf? lol - The film, DOES in fact hint that Algren is the reincarnated soul of an ancient warrior - the japanese do believe in the 'wheel of life', correct? So shut up.
And no, you wont start a big discussion here, i agree, it IS pointless. Because your fucking wrong :)
L0udMaN 2 years ago 2
Monkeys are quite clever, thanks. Hm, I think you use the argument "reincarnation" to back your argumentation that one can learn a martial art faster by using Algren as a example. You mix fiction ( the movie) and reality: The question if one could learn that fast. In film, yes. In reality: I don't think so. And based on my experience: If you learn a new system the reflexes you learned in the old system interfere with the new techniques.
oron1977 2 years ago
you two need to get a life....
SpeltDUDE 2 years ago
Dear L0udMaN, I'm trained in Eskrima, Kendo und know a little bit about european fencing with the saber and the rapier, a friend of mine trains these fine weapons, AND: It IS different. OK, timing, distance, rhytm is always the same, especially in comparing Eskrima to european fencing, but the techniques ARE different, so one cannot learn to be a very good fighter in just 6 months regardles the style and what he trained before
oron1977 2 years ago
The techniques are different, but the fundamentals are the same - an already proficient warrior could learn a new fighting style in 6 months. It is not hard to learn new techniques for a new weapon if the agility, coordination, reaction time and warrior instinct is already there, especially if taught by a master/s in the art - in this case we se 'Ujio' giving a fair amount of training to Algren. This film is not unrealistic in that sense.
L0udMaN 2 years ago 2
Not really, its more a mockery of the Shinobi. THey were the only thing wrong in this movie. THey got them all wrong.
SolarFlame9 3 years ago
i know, like when that one shinobi had tom pinned to the floor:why didn't he just use a frikken pressure point to knock tom unconscious?
justwondering155 2 years ago
Its a little late, I know, but that shinobi was too preoccupied applying the brunt of his weight towards trying to push Cruise down toward the floor, and thus slitting his throat (watch again and you'll see there is a sword right under Cruise's throat while the shinobi pins him down). If he had relented for even a second, he would have given Cruise's character the opportunity to get up, and the shinobi would have lost the upper hand, which he had while pinning down Cruise.

omg.. u totally ignored the song and wrote a scene review ?.. damn man.. Thats plain dumb..
edgetripper 2 years ago 3
Funny you should say that, b/c I actually have this on two or three of my ITunes' playlists. As for your regarding my 'scene review' as 'dumb', the subject came up in the comment section, so I decided to address it with my own opinion. Honestly, I think the quality of the song speaks for itself, though that is my own opinion. If you're going to attack me for not commenting on one particular aspect of a video, you may find yourself doing a lot of 'commenting' in the future.
ShinobiBoi88 2 years ago
whatever man.. i just told that coz i didnt see anything bout the song on ur comment..i wasnt attacking u or anything..as long as u know the song and u like/dislike it, its cool... peace..

it's okay... just enjoy the music.. and most people these days don't respect if you try to share your views on something specific. infact you have to explain yourself to everybody for one line you type..
yashitsune 2 years ago 12
Thanks. Actually, the guy who commented on my comment and I have reached an understanding, and now we keep in touch. I agree, though, you sometimes have to explain yourself to everyone, but I think that opening up on a personal level can have it benefits, and be the foundation of honest relations, even if brief, on the net. :)

im sorry dude( i mean good job)but this was a horrible movie, tom cruise as the last samurai, so wrong. man Saigo Takamori would be tossing in his grave right now. its an insult to the Japanese nation. and now the Yoshida brothers
destroyerpigeon 3 years ago
Are you even Japanese? You realize most of the actors in the movie are Japanese right? Why weren't they offended? Why did Japan allow this 'insult' of a movie to be filmed there then? Why did Japan allow the movie to premiere there and to be played/sold there? Why did so many people buy the movie in Japan?
I could be wrong tho you could be the cultural ambassador for Japan AND the Yoshida brothers.
jadius 3 years ago
yeah your definatly wrong, i am only an offended individual, who is trying to keep the history of the past straight and not mixed with lies. and in case your wondering asshole, Saigo along with many Japanese men died in an honerable battle against a change which threatened Japan's as well as the emperor's future. so the next time you go writing bullshit, stop look up some info and show some respect for the dead,if you died for what you believe in and they made an incorrect movie, u would b mad 2
destroyerpigeon 3 years ago
Hey thanks for answering all of my questions and not going on some unrelated rant.
...OH WAIT!
Anyway its a movie, not a documentary. People don't pay to see a movie so they can be educated on history they pay to be entertained. They want history they can buy a book on it. Any less than retarded individual can discern movie entertainment from historical fact. I guess you didn't catch that so I explained it for your stupid ass. Now thank me and stop being such a butt-hurt titty baby bitch.
jadius 3 years ago
butt-hurt titty baby bitch, wow, thats pretty retarded, so tell me are you a femanist negro, cause thats what it sounds like, dont preach man im just saying that its an insult, and now im saying your a fag, get over it! no one cares, ok. like just cool the jets man,or girl, get a girlfriend and discuss issues like this with her, cause your just wasting space on this page and wasting my time, so shut the lips and suck these nuts. hey where did you get those?

lol I love how an 18yo keyboard warrior from canada is trying to speak for what offends the Japanese nation.
GG nub.
