I have an 88 jetta..ignition key switch failed so theres a button start installed. The car was fuel injection but modified to a carb. The starter is brand new..battery is new...the starter relay is mounted on the fender..now all i hear is strong clicking from the relay...but doesnt turn over...when it did in the past it would get hot cause the starter is a half an inch from the manifold..I would half to wait an hour before it cooled down..I installed a heat shield..but nothing.
