I generally like his music but I HATE this song. People throw the title Uncle Tom around need to consider what it is they are insinuating about themselves and the one who they are placing the title on. I've seen people comment to this video while naming Carlton of the fresh prince or Clarence Thomas as Uncle Toms but what about the character of these men is so poor. Party affiliation is not a means of deciding how Black a person is. Black people have the right to be individuals.
man man man the tan clan has ran they duck dodge and scram of them im no fan cuz i am who i am we kill blindness cuz we got mission vision n kill ignorence wit intelligence and ambition I LOVE DAT FLOW DATS MY FAVORITE PART LOL

@MrDatkidceddy Uncle tom is a term for someone who is subservient to people in a a higher position; usually a black person. The purpose of this song is to talk about black people who had a rough childhood, but escape their surroundings when they get older and try not to associate with their race/ people from the same background. At least thats what I think the purpose of this song is lol
@Usama600 your full of shit. you call the republicans racist but you're the racist using terms like that. minorities don't belong to the democratic party they're not property. liberals think minorities are their property.
@MrDatkidceddy its from a book called uncle toms cabin, but its not the uncle tom whos the sellout its the sambo character. read the book for more info
what's up with the framed portrait of Neil Young in Uncle Tom's Office? lol. I'd never heard of the passing community in Nawlins, keep spreading light (no pun intended)!
@UMANEDAKIDD19 it's about you wanna be white and act black like if u see this video when his black friends asked him to gonto dinner he didn't want to go but when the white men ask he went
MY CONCEPTION OF THE SONG, I THOUGHT HE WAS TALMBOUT BLACKS WHO DISS OTHER BLACKS BY CALLIN EM UNCLE TOM JUS CUS THEY SPEAK PROPER ENGLISH LIKE TO USE GOOD GRAMMAR, WANNA EDUCATE THEMSELVES AND DONT FUCK WIT BLACKS FROM THE HOOD, OR ONCE THEY MOVE OUT THE HOOD THEY ACT ALL HOLLYWOOD. I THOUGHT HE WAS TALMBOUT THOSE BLACKS WHO DISS OTHER BLACKS, LIKE WHEN THEY SAY "WHY TRYIN TO BE WHITE" JUS CUS THAT BLACK PERSON SPEAKS PROPER ENGLISH AND WHAT NOT. THAT WAS MY CONCEPTION OF THE SONG #KANYESHRUG
It is sad how Yahsua's (falsely called Je-zeus) revolutionary message of liberation for HIS people (the tribe of Judah) has been changed to fit the agenda of Luciferians as a more softer message for Blacks about giving GOD the glory and not thinking of one's own survival on this planet. D1 saw HIS people in New Orleans dying after Katrina and no one came to save them, not even White GOD or White Jesus and their many followers whom they begged for. It took a non-Christian (Kanye) to get the help.
What he DID say was if you grew up poor and/or ignorant, and finally made some money, you ARE an Uncle Tom if you are arrogant or condescending towards those "ignorant" black people, even though you all came from the same situation. Listen to the second verse.
@Wowzer1224 what's racist about it? He's not saying any race is superior to all others. He's not even saying to not have white friends. What he IS saying is to not hate your self-image. It's possible to be black, educated, and successful while still having a strong self-identity and not shunning those you suddenly "became better than."
@leggluver Nope, Obama wasn't an Uncle Tom because for all intents and purposes he grew up "white"; raised by a white mom, living with white grandparents in Hawaii, Kansas, and Indonesia. He didn't grow up "black", identify himself as black, and then suddenly change his name from "Barack" to "Barry" and shun everything about being black when he got into politics or college.
Just read your blog. Very good thoughts and very true. Not all white people are like that (cut throat) but alot are just like alot of us are. Just gotta do you at the end of the day. Thanks analyzing it. I really liked it.
@Dee1 nice song. But I think the problem is you can't be positive now days, it turns people off. You have to balance it out with an occasional Fuck or bitch. Like my song "Fuck Being Gangsta". Delicate balance of information and entertainment.
@lostdogg9 Im sorry my dude but i cant agree with that and neither does dee 1 he doesnt curse in his music and so what if it turns ppl off then they issin out on good music your ignorance amazes me that you gotta curse to be relevant and hes a christian so cursing aint important
Dee-1 is directly inline with the first song I feel in love with "Jay, 50, and Weezy. I love the brother, and he overstands it is going to be hard for many to get on board with the political/social commentary in his songs. Too many of some of you have consumed so much music without any social commentary that you it seems "cray" when you hear a song like this. But, it will be just fine. Keep listening and soon hopefully, Dee-1 will be preferred on Lil Wayne and the like.
@TrialBlazer2k9 he wasnt saying that at all. look deeper. he's saying dont ignore who you are and what you are apart of, just to make it easier to be apart of another world. You can still be you without dissing someone or a culture.
Thanks lwfrank for your comment. You made a great point. However, couldn't he have just made the song about what you said instead of throwing insults and calling people Uncle Toms? Some of us don't even know who Tom was yet we throw the term around so loosely. I just would have expected more from this brother who I hold in a very high regard.
@TrialBlazer2k9 True, but if that Black person is purposely denying himself then what would you call it. I am sure Dee-1 as well as you know Black Americans who are educated speak proper and live a "suburban" lifestyle, but then there are those nose in the air, one check away from Section 8 application Black people who pretend to be and have things that they really don't. And it was apparent that he was also referring to his own fam who passed for White also. There is three sides to every story.
True.At the end of the day you should just be yourself no matter what that may be. But I still feel that even if you know someone is not being real, just let them do them because it really doesn't concern you (not you personally) anyway.I just really don't understand why someone would make a whole song about other people Toming.lol!Unless, of course it was like you said for his family whom he talked about. Why make a song when you can just pray for them? Idk. Thanks though Tyrell
@Danyulel Not at all. Dude is mad talented. When he 1st began he was on fire for God and it was quite evident in his music. Now, his flavor has changed. I'm just curious of his purpose for the transition?
@1finegent 1st off, I'm not being smart or beefing-just curious, but why do you say that his "flavor" changed? I hear biiblical principles throughout his music and within interviews where people cuss, he doesnt. Sometimes, the best sermons are by our actions and not what we say. #spreadthesoup
@Rizz5490 "Not Cursing (cussing)" doesn't make a Christian any more than standing in the driveway makes you a Cadillac. Judge a tree by the fruit that it bears.
@chicangeorge I understand and I just wanted to be clear as well. The things we put the most energy, passion, etc into are what we are about. If we are servants of God then we are to work as though we work for Him so that He may get the glory. I would have to respectfully 1/2 way disagree sermon of actions vs. words comparison. The entire reason a rapper (preacher) raps is to "speak" a message/seed into your life. Then it becomes a memory and ultimately a subconscious "seed."
@1finegent I feel ya. Remember though, I said "sometimes" with action vs. words. Your right about rappers and seeds. Overall, I think that he's sowing more positive seeds than bad-spoken and unspoken.
@chicangeorge Positive no doubt...no cussing, no sex, money, cars, drugs or thugs, but still my question remains...."why did he remove God from his rhymes?" This strikes my curiosity.
@1finegent Based on ALL of his songs I have heard, past and present, it seems his flavor has changed from vanilla to chocolate. Dee1's lyrical content consists of something that is missing in a Secular rapper's song and a CHRISTIAN rapper's songs. "Ancestors of Ours are screaming from the grave because physically we're free, but we're still some mental slaves". He is making it clear that he is about the mental liberation of HIS people something "On fire for God" artists are seemingly not about.
@MrNapt but how is it ignorant??? All he is doin is callin out the black ppl who disown who they really r to try to plez the white ppl. Im 13 and i kno tht!
@Fozho123 I'm having a hard time taking you seriously since you only seem to be interested in what your friend said....no matter what way you look at it, Dee-1 is a talented and skilled m'f'cka - and a genuine and authentic human being - there's no use in comparing him to a super star like lil wayne who will continue to make millions off mediocre themes and rhymes in his music - if you're interested in more than just the material, and wanna know about the undercurrents of this world - check dee1
@Fozho123 ha! ya i guess so ~~ I thought u were saying 'thumbs up if you think dee is slow' not your friends. either way it wouldn't be the first time someone criticized someone on the web would it? ~;)
@JustinDgr8 it aint about the white boys, listen to it...its about black people that arent being real and fakin so all the white people will love them.
