  • Glad you doing your thang my LSU alum

  • Sid is that you? LoL. Dope song and message!!!

  • YOUR NOT A TOKEN BECAUSE YOUR LOW KEY AND UP RIGHT, YOUR NOT A TOKEN BECAUSE YOU AVOID FOOLISHNESS AND SPITE, YOUR NOT NECESSARY A TOKEN IF YOU SPEAK CORRECT EUROPEAN ENGLISH. WHAT MAKES YOU A TOKEN IS WHEN YOU DO EVERYTHING THAT GOES AGAINST YOUR OWN KIND EVEN WHEN IT JUST OR THE RIGHT THING TO DO, YOUR A TOKEN BECAUSE YOU CAN'T IDENTIFY AT ALL WITH YOUR OWN KIND ON ANY LEVEL. SIMPLY PUT A TOKEN HATES BEING AFRICAN AMERICAN, AKA " BLACK BENEDICT ARNOLD"

  • lol nice.

  • Love this song!!! He is awesome!! <3 Keep rapping

  • That dude at the desk look like deitrick haddon!

  • AWESOME AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH

  • I generally like his music but I HATE this song. People throw the title Uncle Tom around need to consider what it is they are insinuating about themselves and the one who they are placing the title on. I've seen people comment to this video while naming Carlton of the fresh prince or Clarence Thomas as Uncle Toms but what about the character of these men is so poor. Party affiliation is not a means of deciding how Black a person is. Black people have the right to be individuals.

  • @nias1865 Stfu Hoe

  • This guy is hot! I swear he just got a new fan.

  • i wonder what year tis came out

  • what was the purpose of this song? and whos a uncle tom?

  • @MrDatkidceddy Uncle tom is a term for someone who is subservient to people in a a higher position; usually a black person. The purpose of this song is to talk about black people who had a rough childhood, but escape their surroundings when they get older and try not to associate with their race/ people from the same background. At least thats what I think the purpose of this song is lol

  • @idrc94 and whos an example of 1? black republicans?

  • @MrDatkidceddy Sorry I don't know. In this song I think he just talking about black people in general that have a certain attitude.

  • @MrDatkidceddy clarence thomas

  • @Usama600 your full of shit. you call the republicans racist but you're the racist using terms like that. minorities don't belong to the democratic party they're not property. liberals think minorities are their property.

  • @MrDatkidceddy its from a book called uncle toms cabin, but its not the uncle tom whos the sellout its the sambo character. read the book for more info

  • @dlpaul345 its still an offensive name used by the left to silence people

  • @MrDatkidceddy it has nothing to do with politics! its not offensive if u kno where it comes from; its just stupid.

  • @dlpaul345 o yeah? someone on here just called clarence thomas an uncle tom

  • @MrDatkidceddy dude their stupid adding crap that has nothing too do with the subject matter. tell them to "eat a dick and shut the fuck up"

  • @dlpaul345 then im glad u agree

  • @MrDatkidceddy If you ever watched The fresh Prince of Bel-air, when will first moved in...Uncle Phil and Carlton are good examples of uncle Toms

  • @MrDatkidceddy i did. go to page 2 of the comments

  • @Usama600 did wat?

  • This wat Im talking about, I met you a few times dee1, with these types of messages, youll wake up the world and no telling how far you will go...

I THOUGHT HE WAS TALMBOUT THOSE BLACKS WHO DISS OTHER BLACKS, LIKE WHEN THEY SAY "WHY TRYIN TO BE WHITE" JUS CUS THAT BLACK PERSON SPEAKS PROPER ENGLISH AND WHAT NOT. THAT WAS MY CONCEPTION OF THE SONG #KANYESHRUG

  • @UMANEDAKIDD19 i think you got it wrong my friend lol

  • @trademarktaz LOL, IT WAS JUS A GUESS LOL. WHATS THE SONG BOUT? LOL

  • @UMANEDAKIDD19 just stop

  • your music is sooo good

  • i can sagg my pan-ti-lude lol

  • i saw his jay, 50, weezy video years ago on TV but didn't really feel that song but this song made me a fan of this guy lol

  • That is sad that black folks are such haters. I am a Dee-1 fan for life! I love this song.

  • Funny video and great song!

  • The second verse breaks this song down perfectly.

"These dudes crack me up, knowing that they came from nothin/

Knowing that they got an uncle on the pipe, why they frontin/

Knowing that they pops used to beat they moms like a boxer/

And grandma couldn't read, permanent TV watcher/

Knowing they used to be sleepin 4 to a bed/

Couldn't afford haircuts so mama did it instead/

Knowing how it is to go to sleep and feel hungry/

Knowing bout flashlights and candles, no light bill money..."

  • @eddie927x feelin errbody on dat list but lupe..da cool was da shit but he sold out afta tht.

  • My least favorite song on I Hope They Hear Me Vol. 2...other ones I don't like are Great and Bye to the Broke Days...everything else is on point...

  • Love, love, love it!

  • This is so fuckin real...be ya self the message of the song regardless of race the real ppl will like you anyway

  • This is unc IMO. Da 60 yr old rapper with a bad knee. & I loves this video. Real hot

  • Neph I likes this a lot. Keep bustin dat stuff up. Loving it.

  • It is sad how Yahsua's (falsely called Je-zeus) revolutionary message of liberation for HIS people (the tribe of Judah) has been changed to fit the agenda of Luciferians as a more softer message for Blacks about giving GOD the glory and not thinking of one's own survival on this planet. D1 saw HIS people in New Orleans dying after Katrina and no one came to save them, not even White GOD or White Jesus and their many followers whom they begged for. It took a non-Christian (Kanye) to get the help.

  • I'm not faking or lying to myself when I use proper grammar or avoid ignorant black people.

  • @sagejames314

    Nobody said you were.

What he DID say was if you grew up poor and/or ignorant, and finally made some money, you ARE an Uncle Tom if you are arrogant or condescending towards those "ignorant" black people, even though you all came from the same situation. Listen to the second verse.

  • seriously...i respect dee 1 alot but this is a miss..so disappointed...didn't think you were this ignorant to be racist

  • @Wowzer1224 what's racist about it? He's not saying any race is superior to all others. He's not even saying to not have white friends. What he IS saying is to not hate your self-image. It's possible to be black, educated, and successful while still having a strong self-identity and not shunning those you suddenly "became better than."

  • LOL!!!

  • So was Obama a Uncle Tom for not using the name Barack when he was in school? It's about being part of society.

  • @leggluver Nope, Obama wasn't an Uncle Tom because for all intents and purposes he grew up "white"; raised by a white mom, living with white grandparents in Hawaii, Kansas, and Indonesia. He didn't grow up "black", identify himself as black, and then suddenly change his name from "Barack" to "Barry" and shun everything about being black when he got into politics or college.

  • Hey this has a lot to do with the Creoles in New Orleans

  • dee 1's da truthh !..follw me on tumblr.. jaeveem.tumblr.com

  • Man if yu didn't understand the song or the video, then it sucks to be yu.. Wait I gotta blog about this! Follow me redwinston.tumblr.com

  • @missnishawinston

Just read your blog. Very good thoughts and very true. Not all white people are like that (cut throat) but alot are just like alot of us are. Just gotta do you at the end of the day. Thanks analyzing it. I really liked it.

  • @Dee1 nice song. But I think the problem is you can't be positive now days, it turns people off. You have to balance it out with an occasional Fuck or bitch. Like my song "Fuck Being Gangsta". Delicate balance of information and entertainment.

  • @lostdogg9 Im sorry my dude but i cant agree with that and neither does dee 1 he doesnt curse in his music and so what if it turns ppl off then they issin out on good music your ignorance amazes me that you gotta curse to be relevant and hes a christian so cursing aint important

  • I love Dee 1!!!! You always make me smile with your music! :-)

  • Dee-1 is directly inline with the first song I feel in love with "Jay, 50, and Weezy. I love the brother, and he overstands it is going to be hard for many to get on board with the political/social commentary in his songs. Too many of some of you have consumed so much music without any social commentary that you it seems "cray" when you hear a song like this. But, it will be just fine. Keep listening and soon hopefully, Dee-1 will be preferred on Lil Wayne and the like.

  • nice1, rly like it :D haha, connect with me, Im bout 2 release my first video :)))

  • fuck niggers; uncle toms stay winning Herman Cain 2012

  • @brno22504

    Imbo!

  • SUCH A TRUE SONG...BE PROUD TO BE BLACK #JUSTSAYIN

  • The only stupid song on the mixtape. Every black person is not urban. That does not make them a Tom. Break the group think.

  • @TrialBlazer2k9 he wasnt saying that at all. look deeper. he's saying dont ignore who you are and what you are apart of, just to make it easier to be apart of another world. You can still be you without dissing someone or a culture.

  • @lwfrank

Thanks lwfrank for your comment. You made a great point. However, couldn't he have just made the song about what you said instead of throwing insults and calling people Uncle Toms? Some of us don't even know who Tom was yet we throw the term around so loosely. I just would have expected more from this brother who I hold in a very high regard.

  • @TrialBlazer2k9 True, but if that Black person is purposely denying himself then what would you call it. I am sure Dee-1 as well as you know Black Americans who are educated speak proper and live a "suburban" lifestyle, but then there are those nose in the air, one check away from Section 8 application Black people who pretend to be and have things that they really don't. And it was apparent that he was also referring to his own fam who passed for White also. There is three sides to every story.

  • @tyrell71454

True.At the end of the day you should just be yourself no matter what that may be. But I still feel that even if you know someone is not being real, just let them do them because it really doesn't concern you (not you personally) anyway.I just really don't understand why someone would make a whole song about other people Toming.lol!Unless, of course it was like you said for his family whom he talked about. Why make a song when you can just pray for them? Idk. Thanks though Tyrell

  • @TrialBlazer2k9 I see your point, TB. Thanks for sharing, and you are correct, prayer is the best thing that we can do.

  • @1finegent he is Christian and a rapper but he isn't a Christian rapper

  • I was under the impression that D-1 was an inspirational (Gospel) rapper?? What happened?

  • @1finegent What happened? Oh I get it. To have a critical view and the ability articulate it in a song makes him UN-inspirational?

  • @Danyulel Not at all. Dude is mad talented. When he 1st began he was on fire for God and it was quite evident in his music. Now, his flavor has changed. I'm just curious of his purpose for the transition?

  • @1finegent 1st off, I'm not being smart or beefing-just curious, but why do you say that his "flavor" changed? I hear biiblical principles throughout his music and within interviews where people cuss, he doesnt. Sometimes, the best sermons are by our actions and not what we say. #spreadthesoup

  • @chicangeorge He is a christian rapper thats why he doesnt curse

  • @Rizz5490 that was the point I was making lol

  • @Rizz5490 "Not Cursing (cussing)" doesn't make a Christian any more than standing in the driveway makes you a Cadillac. Judge a tree by the fruit that it bears.

  • @chicangeorge I understand and I just wanted to be clear as well. The things we put the most energy, passion, etc into are what we are about. If we are servants of God then we are to work as though we work for Him so that He may get the glory. I would have to respectfully 1/2 way disagree sermon of actions vs. words comparison. The entire reason a rapper (preacher) raps is to "speak" a message/seed into your life. Then it becomes a memory and ultimately a subconscious "seed."

  • @1finegent I feel ya. Remember though, I said "sometimes" with action vs. words. Your right about rappers and seeds. Overall, I think that he's sowing more positive seeds than bad-spoken and unspoken.

  • @chicangeorge Positive no doubt...no cussing, no sex, money, cars, drugs or thugs, but still my question remains...."why did he remove God from his rhymes?" This strikes my curiosity.

  • @1finegent I dont think that he didn't take him out. Have you checked out "writer's block" from IHTHM Vol.2?

  • @1finegent Based on ALL of his songs I have heard, past and present, it seems his flavor has changed from vanilla to chocolate. Dee1's lyrical content consists of something that is missing in a Secular rapper's song and a CHRISTIAN rapper's songs. "Ancestors of Ours are screaming from the grave because physically we're free, but we're still some mental slaves". He is making it clear that he is about the mental liberation of HIS people something "On fire for God" artists are seemingly not about.

  • @Danyulel I'm not sure I understand your point. Can you clarify?

  • nice

  • Wow that was gay gud rapper but tha song sounds gay as fuck

  • somebody please sign this man...he is too real

  • DOPE!

  • @MrNapt but how is it ignorant??? All he is doin is callin out the black ppl who disown who they really r to try to plez the white ppl. Im 13 and i kno tht!

  • This Song Is So Real, But So Funny At Thaa Same Tymee xD Dee-1 Or Diee !

  • my friend said Lil Wayne is the best rapper and dee 1 is the worst SMH thumbs up if you think he is slow

  • @Fozho123 I'm having a hard time taking you seriously since you only seem to be interested in what your friend said....no matter what way you look at it, Dee-1 is a talented and skilled m'f'cka - and a genuine and authentic human being - there's no use in comparing him to a super star like lil wayne who will continue to make millions off mediocre themes and rhymes in his music - if you're interested in more than just the material, and wanna know about the undercurrents of this world - check dee1

  • @radtallbridgeical lol wut are you slow to im a big dee1 fan or i wouldn't be here

  • @Fozho123 ha! ya i guess so ~~ I thought u were saying 'thumbs up if you think dee is slow' not your friends. either way it wouldn't be the first time someone criticized someone on the web would it? ~;)

  • @Fozho123 how much jamacian weed does he smoke?

  • @Fozho123 you can't get mad at what anotha man's opinion is on music

It's calle Freedom of choice If we all liked the same thing Life would be Boring as hell

  • @AndreRedd1Empire Who said i was mad i just told the people what my friend said so it doesn't matter what you think :)

  • Lol the uncle Tom dance is funny
