  • Good for you for standing up for yourself! Don't worry too much about BMI - there's TONS of research showing that it's total BS for determining "correct" height and weight for anyone (I'll send you links if you like). YOU have to determine what is healthy for YOU - and if that's 120 at 5'9", that's AWESOME!

I'm happy to see the tide turning from extreme thinness equaling beauty, but there is a LONG way to go.

  • online Asian wives ***lushfmlk.info***

  • Online Asian girls #lushfmlk.info#

  • Well done! Wonderful!

  • what show were the too thin models from?? any designer name?

  • a fat person made this

  • @000debo What a LOSER you are. People get complexes over weight - you're comment was REALLY not funny AT ALL

  • The requirement of the super system is upheld with the negative body image, the consumers consume to fill the illusionary false needs, spending to devote their fears and contribute to the bourgeois hypnotic spectacle, you invest in the pharmaceutical lies, helping squander 'OUR' freedoms on the monopolized capitalist lie, YOU personally are guilty as they all are, until you say NO MORE LIES.

  • you can't live forever you know only in heaven

  • lawl. what a moron. i'm about 5'3. i weigh less than 90 pounds. i constantly eat. some people are just born lucky.

MODELS ON THE RUNWAY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THE MAIN FOCUS OF THE SHOW. hurr durr people.

the point of thin models is to show off the clothes. theyre thin for a reason. if they were fat asses then the clothes would pucker, and look like shit. thin models make the clothes appear like they are on hangers. yeah some models are so skinny that its unhealthy, but that is their choice.

  • @xXlaurXx It's not their choice. If they gain weight then they are out of a job.

  • @Rachiejane1 actually, it IS their choice. are you oblivious to the fact that many designers cater to plus sizes? if they gain weight they won't be out of a job. check your facts before you attempt to correct someone who works in the fashion industry.

  • @xXlaurXx Seriously love - stop being so naive. Of course designers don't cater for plus size as a rule - they want their clothes to look amazing & they think that that means finding a human coat hanger. Why did the woman from Mad Men complain that no designers would lend her clothes because she wasn't a size 0? No one would lend her clothes for events because a) they didn't do her size & b) they didn't think she would look good in them. SERIOUSLY - that is the tip of the iceberg. WAKE UP

  • @Rachiejane1 seriously love- stop being a total and complete moron. designers hire models to be coathangers, I KNOW. i am one. no idea what mad men is, nor do i care. you're pretty dumb if you think you understand how the world of fashion works, but whatever. ill let you think what you want in your silly retarded little world. kbyee!

  • @xXlaurXx I do understand how the world of fashion works but it sounds like you don't which I find unnerving when you claim to work in it! Mad Men is a famous award-winning series & the lady I was talking about is one of the stars. You call me a 'moron' & say I am 'pretty dumb' yet there are documentaries, articles & discussions all the time about models dying because they are too thin. Why would they be too thin if normal sizes were catered for? Why are 99% of models & supermodels super skinny?

  • @xXlaurXx I think I live in the real world and you live in your own little world of make believe but ignoring the truth won't make it go away - there are MAJOR problems in the fashion inductry as a whole and body image, anorexia and bulimia go hand in hand with modelling. Wake up to the truth and stop being so immature - it's pathetic and just makes you look stupid

  • @Rachiejane1 actually im not the one going on a youtube tirade. thats kinda sad dude. like get off the internet. also, not all models are anorexic. designers will hire whoever the fuck makes their garments look good. yeah some models have that issue because not everyone is perfect and everyone has something they want to change about themselves. you're no piece of cake either, stop trying to make yourself sound right. you just sound like an idiot. by the way, how old is the series mad men? im 19.

  • @xXlaurXx Mad Men is current - it's on TV at the moment. 'like', no I won't 'get off the internet'. I have NO idea what you mean about me being 'no piece of cake' - I am a human not a cake and your sentence doesn't even make sense. I don't sound like an idiot as am I clearly being realistic and forming coherent sentences, unlike yourself. I am also 19 but I think I sound a lot more mature than you...

  • @Rachiejane1 haha aw when you insult someone's grammar you've run out of ways to try to insult them. okay whatever you say, you pathetic lump. fyi, tv isn't my thing. i stick to sewing.

  • @xXlaurXx Not at all -I wasn't trying to insult you but I was just stating the truth. Call me a 'pathetic lump' all you like. You don't even know what I look like so it's very strange for you to refer to my appearance like that. Scraping the barrel with the insults aren't we?! Again, I am unnerved that you are in the fashion industry when you call people 'pathetic lumps'. Have you got a weight problem yourself? Or anorexia? Probably not a good idea you are involved in the fashion industry at all

  • @Rachiejane1 i was referring to your personality. a pathetic lump is someone who tries to argue over the internet, in my opinion. BUT if you werent trying to insult me then i'd SAY its all good, and i'd take back the comment... however you ONCE AGAIN tried to insult someone you don't know by making really rude assumptions about my weight. i'm not anorexic, i don't have a weight issue, and i'm in the fashion industry because it's my dream to design. i'm good at it. it runs in the family. >_>

  • @xXlaurXx When people call other people 'pathetic lumps' they are usually referring to their size - but you just stick to your claim that you meant someone who argues over the internet all you like...not sure anyone would believe you. I didn't accuse you of anything, I merely ASKED if you had an issue with weight. Just trying to get to the bottom of the issue you seem to have with people knowing there are weight issues in the fashion industry...Why is that? Why are you trying to avoid the truth?

  • @Rachiejane1 oh i will. also, i have an issue with it because i'm petite. my point is that not all size 0's are anorexic. i eat healthily, and i have nothing to hide. i'm in the fashion industry because i love designing. you seem to have issues with weight as well. why is that? why are you avoiding the truth? do you have some underlying issue with being overweight? got something against someone you don't know? message me if you want to continue this conversation, rather than being immature here.

  • @xXlaurXx Right, so we got to the truth then. I myself have no 'issues' with weight myself. I eat what I like but only in moderation and I play netball and go swimming to stay slim and healthy. I just have issues with you not accepting that there are weight issues in the fashion industry. It is rife and there is evidence everywhere from people who have experienced it all first hand. I don't have anything against you at all but I think you need to face up to the issues, especially as you say

  • @Rachiejane1 okay i didn't see the part where you said you didn't have issues with me. i appreciate that, BUT i know that the world is flawed, and people die. but the models who do are mentally sick. i don't appreciate your message because it was rude. i don't have anything against you because i don't know you, but i'm not particularly fond of you. your hatred of this industry is a little exaggerated. please realize you're as big a part of this industry as i am. unless you'd rather go naked.

  • @xXlaurXx you are in the industry yourself. Be aware of it because it happens an awful lot. No need to continue this conversation because I made my point whether you accept the truth or not and I am certainly not immature.

  • @Rachiejane1 lol.

  • @Rachiejane1 you're absolutely pathetic. how tragic. a death in the fashion industry? wow. just because you think you're a know-it-all doesn't mean your response was a little exaggerated. good, don't reply anymore. but just so you know, your hatred of the fashion industry really doesn't concern me, or anyone else in the world. just so you know, you're a part of it just like everyone else in the world... unless you would rather go naked. i know people die, but those people are mentally sick.

  • @xXlaurXx I don't have a hatred of the fashion industry - I love fashion BUT I do have a problem with the attitude the fashion industry has of supermodels who don't conform to the size 0 that it celebrates and the attitude it has to girls who are not so skinny. Look at Rachel Zoe for example. I'm not pathetic - just stating the facts. Anorexia is rife in the fashion industry. My message was not rude but calling me pathetic and a 'know-it-all' IS rude.

  • @Rachiejane1 every action comes with a reaction, so my reaction to you was calling you snobby and a know-it-all. i took what you said as rude, and i know you intended to be rude because girls are nasty. let's put it this way: we're both right in the sense that models do die because they want to be thin, AND not all models die because of their jobs.

  • well, not all girls are dangerously thin.

I'm around 5 ft tall and weigh under 90 pounds, and you are going to say that's bad? what the hell, at least i am healthy.

on't tell me to eat 2 burgers because im naturally that way.

anyway, thanks for making everyone aware that models sshouldn't have to look thin to be in the runway.

i think the models should be healthy.

  • Yeah, i'm 18 years old 5"1 and i weight around 95 pounds. For me i've always been naturally small i think some people need to be more understanding of people's natural beauty. As though models who are 5'8 on the other hand shouldn't be weighing in the same amount as us smaller framed girls.

  • i thought it was a great video, and hu cares if they r fotoshoped, that just as bad, it means that even models r classified as thin enough so the ppl hu edited them r just sik if they made it for public views.

  • this is really typical =x

  • those pics are fake some of them anyway, anorexia is scary enough without having to doctor the photos! anyway, really good video its a really important issue that needs more attention than it is getting in the media. every girl i know is concerned about her weight, including me and im only 8 stone and everytime i see a picture of a model or a stunningly beautiful woman, whether the picture is fake or not, i still get really depressed. imagine how it affects a 13 year old girl?

  • lol im 13 and if i kno the pics r fake thten i blow them off. unless something is drilled into our head we usually juss forget bout it unless we have brain problems so :P

  • The images from 1:19-1:31 were proved photoshoped.

  • media + gullible people = mess.

  • I really Liked it. At first the women in the ads look beautiful but then you see the models on the runway and they look so distorted and skinny. It gives you that wow feeling because they don't even look like humans.

  • Thank You.I was Discusted Looking at those Women, they have no self respect. I appreciate you trying to put the word out and inform those of the adds "brainwashing" us. =D

  • All those pictures to illustrate anorexia in media viewers were fake. The real ones can be found on the internet. I don't think it's wise to preach about something that you haven't even properly researched.

  • whats with ALL! the stam pictures!

  • those pictures are fake, but this is to the point. I'm feeling a LOT of pressure right now, i have a photo shoot coming up, and i don't know if i should eat that day. I should but... i don't want to be bloated. I am 5 foot 9, 120, and i dont feel fat, but i dont feel thin. I feel like i might be sinking in. Help?

  • nice vid.

  • fuck the media! they turn you into a mindless consuming machine, either to thin or to fat. either way people start to get concerned with their looks way too much, IT AIN'T THAT IMPORTANT!! some should go to their work/school in what they would wair if they had nothing to do. the media gives a erally small image of what's going on in the world. its one fucking brainwash machine. sometimes i think the internet is to overloaded with conspiracy theories, but still i'm glad we have it

  • i know im 11 and have a eating disorder

  • Do anorexic people go taller than they should be/what they were before? O_o

  • EEP WALKING SKELETONS! Well it is the freakness of our culture. YOU DO NOT LOOK LIKE MODEL YOU ARE UNPRETTY FUCK THAT MODELS IT IS PHOTOSHOP. And uneating til death is sadistic behavior of model agentures

  • this is an amazing video, thank you so much for creating it. I am also doing a similar anthro/psy/soc assignment on media and body image and this was very helpful. Great Job!

  • I find it troubling that a so-called 'sociologist' would post images of models, which have clearly been doctored. Hardly a fair representation, serving no other purpose than to fuel your polemic.

  • She said it was a video to show the negative effect not just the general effect; it wasn't meant to show the small number of people that show average humans in their ads. Also, isn't it part of the point that it's doctored photos that are being shown to people? These photos were from magazines and online, so it is something that people would see. Unless she actually went in and doctored them, they are just pictures open to the public

  • I absolutely agree. As soon as I saw the first picture of the models I was like, ffs, that's SO doctored.

    Stupid idea really..

  • To be honest I find this video a little biased and one sided . Sociology is not meant to be convincing , sociology is about looking at very different ways into why companies portray this image . I don't disagree with the fact that oversized women should not walk the catwalk , but just the fact that this was an assignment , that is fairly one sided and persuasive and full of unethical implied meanings.

  • I hate the media.

I am glad there are people out there who want to stop all this.

I am going to enjoy life and be happy with my appearance whether it's this so called "perfect" or not.

If I want to eat chocolate and be a bit curvy then so let me!! I don't need the media telling me what I should or should not look like.

Good choice of music aswell, I never realised what the song meant until now. Good assignment :D

  • 1:13 is just so so so gross. If you looked at her from the side, I think you wouldnt see her at all...

  • " I like big butts and I cannot lie"

  • omgoodness i loved this video. if only people would get it in there head its about being healthy and not bone skinny. i cant believe it took so long for the modeling industry to say something. those girls were not even cute on the runway. i was not paying attention to the clothes all i seen was bones. great vid! i rate it a 100 times infinity!

  • most "models" look shit anyway, but the male ones are even worse,grown-up men with body of a teenager.

  • bahhh....bahh.....Bahhhhh....bahhhh

  • Beauty is being happy with yourself. When you meet someone who is totally aware and comfortable with there outer appearance, they are beautiful. Not only is your comment unintelligent, emorocker, your taste in music made by your SN is also a perfect sign of it.

  • why in the world did you get a thumbs down? gosh who knows, but seriously, i dont know how, but i guess im one of the few lucky ones that figured it out early, beauty doesnt last forever, pretty soon its just a memory,as long as your healthy, i guess its what everyones been saying but u dont really figure it out sometimes? i love who i am. I am so completly comfortable with myself, its much more refreshing then worrying about what i look like everyday, this video was a little baised though

  • i already know im going to get neggative comments for this but if being thin is beautiful then that is a risk im willing to take

  • but seeing bones is not beautiful

  • why would being thin be beautiful? being healthy, and looking in good shape for YOUR OWN body is beautiful coz everybody is different, the media only say thin is beautiful coz they like have power over people and project this message for them to take in and act instantly to. i dont mean it in a negative way, its just that people should think for themselves without the media thinkin for them and telling people whats 'right'.

  • having a realistic view of ones life is always the best formula to emote appropriatley observation of women in my life and stats that i have seen i do think it influences them to a certain degree but it wouldnt be there if they did not allow it.ask your self this does our society actually need this type of stratification to survive?ALSO ON THE BACK SIDE THE SAME THING SHOULD BE ASKED OF MEN, it seems gender plays a role in the type and amount of knowledge that each has.

  • maybe would have been quite a good video if u haven't used photoshopped pictures of models from 1.19 til 1.30 or something like this. all photoshopped ...

  • UN BEL VIDEO!

  • No matter how you made it, it is absolutely a insult on other people. Eating as well as sex should be a person's private life, and no matter what you should stay away from it. People in modeling business choose to do so because of their career need. In order to sell clothes, you have to look extraordinary.

  • Some of them went too far, but again it is up to them. People like you should just mind your own business, i doubt you pay that much attention to some other serious issue in the world or of other people. You are protesting this simply because you are feeling threatened. Trust me, models gain some weight won't improve your beautiness or reduce your ugliness.

  • dat was so touchy i almost cried

    keep it coming

    huge message!

  • Well I personally thought this was well put. Poignant, to the point, and there was profoundness in it's simplicity. Kudos! :)

  • Anorexia affects .5 to 3.7% of females in the US. Bulimia affects 1.1 to 4.2% of females. Obesity affects 57% of American adults.

  • To:kdnkdn66-As for the obese dillema, is there a statistic as to how body image and anorexia affects obesity in the U.S.? This video or "assignment" was just one of several branches to eating disorders caused indirectly by images that we are bombarded by daily. Even at 57% there isn't a census to account for the psychological effects that these images have in occurence with the images of supermodel thin.

  • Awesome job! makes ya think about what beauty really is.

  • OMG some of these images are disturbing i really think that they should make the models weigh at least a 125 pounds or at least where they look healthy.

  • WELL I THINK ITS GREAT! GOOD JOB! :)

  • poor

  • *shakes head* It's like saying that people who play violent video games will in turn be violent and go out and shoot people. F*ck whatever happen to common sense, thinking logically and rationally? It's just cgi on a paper it shouldn't have that kind of power, but I guess some people are weak feeble minded idiots who can't think for themselves.

  • You're cruel and obviously have some sort on inferiority complex yourself. People are weak yes, most people are weak. You are probably week. These people can think for themselves but they're brainwashed into thinking that they're not okay, that they are not acceptable. And you are a horrible person not to sympathize with these people. It could be your best friend and you wouldn't even know.

  • I'm sorry... I believe in personal responsibility. Not blaming everything on everyone else for shit I have done. Thank you. :)

  • if they are acceptable, then they will be accepted. and if they are not, they will be rejected. Nothing is more powerful or crueler than the truth. And what kind of horrible person you are, what you are saying here is basically that everybody except you are total moron.

  • p1) As a media student, I can tell you that research says 3 in 5 young women who are exposed to instances of mass media will develop a body complex.

Playing violent video games -does- make people more violent. This has been proven through several studies throughout the years.

  • p2) You are impressioned upon every single day of your life whether you realise it or not. You buy that razor because it has a beautiful woman with smooth legs. You pick up that newspaper because it has eye-catching headlines and glamerous pictures.

If being impressionable is weakness, evolution will wipe each and every one of us out within the next few years. You're going, too.

  • p3) A wonderful video, well composed and well designed for maximum impact. You've been concise, accurate, and over-all wonderful. Thanks for sharing this.

  • I don;t shave and generalizing in of itself makes you yourself brainwashed by that same media.

When you're an adult you take responsibilities and know what is wrong and what is right. You take charge of your own life not that of others.

    Thank you.:)

  • ...You really just proved my point, for me. Everyone is brainwashed by the mass media.

As a responsible adult you must accept -realistic- depths of life. Ignoring the fact that tens of young people kill themselves every year because soemone decided to tell them they must be thin and perfect is not being a responsible adult.

If you loose your family, your friends, or your lover, to something which must be stopped. Until then, enjoy your ignorant bliss.

  • I think the images from the first part are fine, but the later part? All i think was what kinda of stupid designer would choose those girl, i love superthin, but not skeletonized thin. They were scaring to look at, not mension they have to sell clothing. Are they Computer Generated images?

  • I haven't... Thank goodness.

I played violent games but I haven't killed anyone.

It's about personal responsibility and having a fucking brain.

    Thank you. :)

  • What in the world do you mean by 'a body complex?' Pretty much everyone in Western society is 'exposed to mass media.' If it is conceptualized as being a little insecure about your weight then so what? Does this really tell us anything about our society/our media. Isn't everyone forgetting that we happen to live in one of the most obese societies in the world?

  • In one study, 80 percent of American women claim to be dissatisfied about their appearance and shape. How easy would it be to fall culprit at one end of the spectrum, what with fast food and instant gratification, than it would be to will your body to binge then purge. If your so concerned about obesity, then why don't you make a video of it instead of criticise someone else's attempt at responsibility of your body from image protrayal.

  • wtf..

  • I think your project is interesting. But, it seems that by doing the project you have redone just what advertisers are doing. You stated that women are exposed to ad's portraying a specific and damaging body type daily and in huge amounts and then your proof is by showing more of the same. I understand that you did not mention your position on this issue and in no way do I wish to attack you I'm just interested in the fact that you did just what you are reporting on.

  • May God bless the models, they are so beautiful

  • skinny models are hot!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I agree with 510682, skinny girls are hot and seeing as though over half of all Americans are overweight isn't it good to have a few normal sized girls to idolize?

  • yes it is

  • I agree :)

  • I also model and loved your video people need to realize that its good to be healthy. And not sick like those skinny models. That is a amazing look at the message you are sending :)

  • so true. but bone thin girls with still rome the catwalk

  • good video with good message

  • Yes some of the photos are edited but the fact is there still very thin. Just because you can see bones dose not meant that there fine. This website shows the edited ones and the originals there not that different. Yes some bones are sticking out more but thats far from the point. I loved the video and i applaud it!

  • A lot of the pictures of the models are fake and photoshopped, if you google it you can find more information on the pictures. Other than that, good job!

  • lol in the beging of teh video the beeping noise scared teh shit outta me lmao nice video.

  • i liked it. i don't see what's wrong with healthy, athletic bodies anyway. im not a lesbian or nething, but wouldnt that be more attractive than bones hidden behind pale skin?

  • this wasn't very good.

the pictures of kids & the swan made no sense.. random ?

& the majority of those anorexia photographs are edited.

  • a) That girls nose was pretty big. b) half of those photos are fake.

  • you're fake!!!

  • Sociology is a symptom of the deathrows of modern white society? Are you afraid to see your future in the grip of asian culture? They are not kind. Heard of Tibet? When you realize this maybe you will quit looking at native americans as animals and more as allies. Does not matter in the 'polls' does it when someone's 1%? Give me a 'call' when the ebombs strike- Hah! Oh, I got kicked out for believing this, and believe me, the trades are a godsend!!!

  • you're a loose end!!

  • i hope you didn't fail this assignment, as you spelt runway wrong.

  • oh my, it's the spellcheck police!!!!

  • beautiful...

  • Fangie Fangie Fangie's assignment

  • congratulations..

    loved the videoo..

    wow.

    im speakless

    thank you!

  • 1:10 is beautiful.

  • Playing devils advocate, I would say people are stupid by virtue of being people, and regardless of gender will always want something they can never have - the grass is ALWAYS greener on the other side of the fence. At some point you have to take responsibility for yourself and decide what you want to be a part of - lead by example and hope that the "ripple effect" will occur.

  • It seems like you should develop your ideas here and show this to the people the modeling business, not the retarded youtube watchers. Youtube loosers will patiently listen so some teenage girls boring life story only in the hopes of seeing even a nipple.

  • Argh! You're on to me :0
