@Danimal77 The only things similar to Hot For Teacher in this song are the tempo, and that David Lee Roth is singing. The guitar riffs are very different.
I remember when this album came out, and many of my friends, who loved David Lee Roth, said that they didn't like this one, and "That they knew what he was trying to do." I didn't really understand what they meant at the time, but listening to this song now, I realize what they meant. Hey, if Dave was making better Van Halen songs, then Van Hagar at the time, good on Dave, and bad on Van Hagar.
@GuitarWholesale WTF are you talking about???!!!! Jason with ALS has written some of the most prolific music in a very very long time. Maybe you should watch the Jason Becker Not Dead Yet Movie Trailer. That was a complete douche thing to say about such an influential guitarist and genuine nice guy.
Easily the best song off A Little Ain't Enough, and probably one of Roth's best solo songs overall. It reminds me a lot of old Van Halen...except with a Jason Becker guitar solo!
You know what is the most amazing thing about this album?
Jason was diagnosed with ALS in 1989, this album was released in 1991. Jason was suffering from ALS when he recorded this, and yet, he is still an amazing player.
Yes, and to "I'm the One" and Steve Vai's "The Audience is Listening". That's because they're all fast shuffles, not that they copied one from another ;)
@ShinOnigashima Speed ain't the only thing. Play the third mvt of Moonlight Sonata, with a little crunch, it won't sound like that song. And it's closer to "Hot For Teacher".
I didn't mean they copied, just that David Lee Roth still had that thing like when he was in Van Halen. Like Dave Mustain and Metallica, when you listen to "Hangar 18" and "The Call of Ktulu".
To me, it just sounds like a "Hi guys!! How're you?! Fine? Great!! Me toooo!!!"
I meant, the style is a shuffle, but I get your point. Indeed, DLR got stuck on those type of songs during that period, like saying VH did tapping on every single solo from his first 3 records for example.
Jason's most face melting tune (IMHO) is Perpetual Burn from his solo cd Perpetual Burn!!!!!!!!!! Sic Sic Sic cd! He not only shreds but he does it with taste! not just a bunch of random note like MAB seems to live for.
I agree with you man, MAB shreds without taste (not always, but most of the time) and Jason rips it out on the Perpetual Burn CD. A must have for shred and any good music fans IMO.
@TheFarriesmetalhead a guitarist will be faster than another only in certain scales and pattern... even a newb like me has his little pattern that i have overpracticed and that i can play as fast or faster than some of the biggest guitarists. Its impossible to compare two guitarist on any facet. There is no fastest and there is no best. Just appreciate them man.
@joeraydownes if you enjoy that sensation, may I recommend that you listen to Cacophony, that way you will have your face melted by Jason Becker and Marty Friedman at the same time :)
@ShinOnigashima Jason's name should be way before David Lee Roth ! Highlighted ! in burning red with thunder bolts piercing every single letter of his name !
I know that this is around the time that Jason was getting sick...but did he actually do any of the other songs on the album? If so...then by all means, upload them if you have time, please. Thanks alot man.
This is a BLATANT reworking of Hot For Teacher. "I'm HOT for teacher"...."Because it's SHOWTIME"! It's the SAME SONG.
