i was in love with Chaka. I would get hypnotized looking a her picture and would go into a complete trance when ever I saw and heard her sing in person.
@jaybou263 Yeah but that's what almost all the guests on Soul Train did. Don Cornelius said that one time Barry White performed live and it was very expensive so that makes me believe that the artists didn't sing because it cost too much.
I'm going to need people to stop spreading the rumor that Whitney and Cissy Houston sung background on Chaka's version of I'm Every Woman. If you have liner notes from the original "Chaka" album that tell you they did, somebody sold you a BIG FAKE.
hello people our'm in love with Chaka Khan, I'm from Brazil and hear it for some time now, listening on radios here in Brazil his song "Through The Fire" and it no doubt a diva and deserves it! kiss to everyone!
I believe Whitney Houston was around 12 years old when "Sweet Thing" came out in 1975, so I doubted that she sang background on that song. But then again maybe she did.
I don't think so. Whitney would have been 11 or 12 when this was recorded. I don't think Cissy (who also sang background vocals on "I'm Every Woman") worked with Chaka until her solo stuff in 78'.
They lipsynch on videos because the band wants you to BUY the studio album. Imagine if the video version you first saw on t.v. was great then when you went down to Tower Records and plunked down a weeks worth of your hard earned allowance for that vinyl you got disappointed with some crappy studio version that sounds nothing like what you saw on the tube??? Heck, they even lip synched on Don Kirschner's Rock Concert and Midnight Madness...
Yeah.....this is just the band doing what all successful bands do when the venue demands it: miming to the studio version. Same as on the Soul Train version. It's SO obvious: she's even backing herself up on vocals. They needed TWO keyboard players to NOT play on this version? :P
Only a dead man would not get turned on by Chaka in this video.

No. This song was long before Whitney entered the scene.
