You may have been seeing the first return trip of the day from Deep River to Essex. At that point, the vast majority of people generally will have gotten off the train at Deep River to catch the riverboat, leaving few people on the train.

Spectacular video! Went there for the firt time back in June for a photo special that covered the whole line. I was VERY impressed by the railroad. Love the 40! Again, GREAT video!
