I always prefered the ending credits than the opening. The pullback shot of the vehicles w/ grey's music still send shiver down my spine. federalnutter, you're sooo right--that jet is wonderful. Let's face it--Gerry was the best at this stuff!
I remember when I was a little kid my parents got some kind of big huge mail order catalogue -- maybe the Sears Catalogue that had a toy section, and every year they'd advertise these amazingly cool-looking cast metal versions of all the Thunderbirds -- all of them enormously more expensive than I could ever talk my parents into spending,
And now, 40 years later, I suspect if I tried to find those same toys as collectibles, they'd probably still be enormously more expensive than I could afford.
The vehicles in Gerry Anderson shows were always so stylish, and would look cool even today. TB2 is probably the best looking sci-fi vehicle of all time, if you ask me.
A great, stately theme. Gerry Anderson worked hard but didn't get as much thanks as he should in the TV medium, offered a little more than just a kid-oriented action series.
As a boy there was one image I couldn't understand; I thought the grill of Lady Penelope's car was some kind of building!
I knew Jimmy Elliott, the credited camera operator, and sometimes director of special effects. Met him twenty years ago.Believe it or not, he was a humble painter and decorator.Through ill health he had to leave Gerry Anderson and his film work.He also had worked on UFO, Stingray and others. Not sure if he is still with us, but a great guy, and a fun character.Very sad.
Thats Shane Rimmer an American Actor who did Scott Tracy's voice . He was in "The People that Time Forgot" with Patrick Wayne & Doug McClure.

@Cpt50Caliber Disney did NOT produce a live-action film adaptation of "Thunderbirds", it was Universal Pictures that did it.

If there is a more instantly recognisable theme tune, to a TV show, then I have yet to hear it. Epic. Barry Grey. Top composer.

If there is still kid's TV in 50 years time, they will be showing it then. It will never age.
