This is simply the perfect requiem. the first part has such a feeling of pain and longing as to make agrown man weep, giving the "mourning the dead" part of a funeral, but the second part gives a feeling of hope, assurance that the deceased is in Heaven (or Paradise, or Nirvana, whatever you may believe in.) This may well be the most beatiful and emotional piece of music I've ever heard.
Wonderful... this is one of the few pieces that can make a tear come to my eye by musical merit alone, without touching lyrics. Especially 1:30 to 1:45 gets me every time, not to mention it's perfect for the scenes it's used in. This game's soundtrack almost single-handedly got me into classical music, and this game along with FFIV got me into old-school RPGs. Horii and Sugiyama are geniuses.
In Japan, video game music is serious business. I bet half to three quarters of the players here initially wondered why they were playing music from video games.
whenevr i visit my destroyed home on Dragon Quest Chapters of the chosen i find it hard to hold back the tears. I love Sugiyama's music is the best ever!
@brodiger WOW you've actualy met him. i envy you so much, not in a hatred way in a nice way. what do you think to the music on dragon quest IX, if you've had the chance to hear it?
@brodiger It must have been cool to meet him and listen to the origional sound track of DQIX I bought that game about a week ago, the music on its great but it would be better if was the origional orchestral sound.
The two songs complement each other perfectly -- unlike most of the song pairings, these are meant to be heard together. They are absolutely the best at the feelings they try to convey, too.
oh, really really great. well how can i say, i cant find the word to say , just make me cry , reminds me of old good days , thanks so much for uploding.
I've always loved this song, even when it was in 8-bit form... It made me cry even back then, but this is just breathtaking. Leading the atemko music into the shrine music gives this an epically tragic feeling that leads into a sense of hope.
I remember it, too. I'm still working my way through Dragon Quest IV DS, but back when I played this on the NES ... this music really added to the scene where Necrosaro was mourning over Rosa (when the people were beating her for her tears). It really will make you feel like crying.
This song has an amazing amount of emotion. The pain and agony from 0:25-1:00 is soulbreaking if you are yourself sad when you listen to it.
1:00-1:30 Gives me chills and I generally have teared up by this point. I haven't actually cried in 17 years since my father passed away but this almost makes me cry.
Elegy Means That Koichi Sugiyama is feeling sad Then On Mysterious Shrine It goes To The Part where he feels Sorry For all The things he did to his Loved one Cause he was acting like a big jeark

I love this song ever since I heard it in the anime "Dai no daibouken". It makes me really sad, but in a good way. All the music from that series was very special.
