So when he comes out of his comatose/poison-induced state at the end of CC,only to watch his best friend die,the mental trauma and Jenova cells mess up his mind,mixing in stories and memories Zack told him with an idealized version of himself,having successfully joined SOLDIER & bits and pieces of his own memories,thus creating this false persona(alter ego,if you will)that so strongly resembles Zack,whose life and memories Cloud kinda ends up *stealing* and presenting as his own.
OK,I'm gonna try this just once,hopefully you all get it.Cloud THINKS he is Zack and doesn't know who Zack is even after watching him die in CC due to Mako poisoning(which is caused by Hojo experimenting on him and Zack after he finds them nearly dead in the Nibelheim reactor)and the Jenova cells implanted in every SOLDIER.Unlike Zack,who was able to deal with the Mako showers and Jenova cells in his system,Cloud's body & mind couldn't handle it(main reason for him never making it into SOLDIER)
Cloud believes he is Zack because his brain tells him your Zack due to his memory switch NOT because he wanted be Zack's living legacy...Cloud has Zack's memories so therefor he is going to go off them...simple as that.
this is why I think CC & AC fucked up FF7 main-plot.
in CC Zack tells Cloud to be his living legacy..Cloud watched Zack die! ...BUT in the original FF7 game...Cloud has no idea who Zack is! and does not remember what he looks like...Cloud really is confused in FF7 BUT they made it look like Zack told Cloud "play along and pretend your me"...not even remotely true to the FF7 story-line.
so Cloud never wanted to be Zack...Cloud was FORCED to be Zack.

Cloud wasn't created, nor was he ever officially in SOLDIER. He was a simple Infantrymen, and Zack was the one in SOLDIER. While on a assignment, the met and became friends. After a awhile, while on another assignment, they were both assigned by coincidance to investigate a Reacter disturbance in Nibelheim with Sephiroth which set off a chain of events. I could go on but that should basically give you a good idea.

@VNtinos 3 letters can be found on Tifa's desk in her room; in the flashback, & in the present day (I only just realized I can't place the 3 into the 2 time periods, so there is something odd with it all)
1 is from a friend who went to Midgar to seek his fortune & failed, 1 is from her martial arts teacher, & the 3rd letter describes the Shinra operation to cover up the Sephiroth incident by rebuilding the burnt village, and replacing its residents with paid actors
cloud was actually just a normal soldier that was 1 of those 2 guards in the outfit, he was a normal guy then became friends with zack and he was with him i think i cant remember and the way cloud got the soldier first class outfit was that it was in the mansion and he was poisoned so couldnt move
strangely this was the best part in the game. when seph starts to play with clouds mind but i really hoped he was somesort of experiment, not a real human
at 10:03 you can see tifa's cowboy outfit but in crisis core they made it so revealing o.0 it's not the same outfit while it should be the same outfit...
i was 13 when i first played this game and back then i didn't understand a thing from what's been going on the story was too complicated but now that i'm playing it again everything make sense now. but one thing i don't understand is like Wuzzly said: if cloud is just a puppet made five years ago how does he have childhood memories with tifa how did he grow up with tifa? i dont get it...
Sepheroth's reply to that was that He put the memory's of cloud into Tifa. Cloud does not remember anything, he just thinks he does. the "REAL" cloud is Zack, the man who was with tifa in her memory's but sepheroth put memory's in tifa and clouds head just to fuck around with them.
He was real he grew up with Tifa but Five years ago Hojo put Jenova cells in him which because Jenova cells reunite Sephiroth could control him and Cloud is constantly trying to get to Sephiroth because of this weather he realises it or not. He is a sephiroth clone but this is a miss translation of sephiroth copy, so he was made a sephroth copy by hojo but wasn't he himself created by hojo.

no, in cc, cloud technically died, but hojo began experimenting on him and zack, so they lived. hojo game them (im guessing) some sort of jenova cells, so now sephiroth (otherwise known as jenova's puppet) can control cloud's mind.
Thanks for uploading these. I only just started playing this game on my PS2, and when I got to this part, the game kept freezing and I just can't get past this part. So I'm mainly watching these so I can continue following the story.

Wait! was Cloud created before or after Neblihiem burned down. How did he meet Zack? And if they never met until after the four years cloud was in the test tube(Crisis Core) then why didn't Zack just leave him there? And how did cloud meet Zack on that mountain? The one where they were talking about how "back water" they were, that one. these questions may haunt me for as long as Vincent lives, and that could be awhile.

Cloud wasn't created, nor was he ever officially in SOLDIER. He was a simple Infantrymen, and Zack was the one in SOLDIER. While on a assignment, the met and became friends. After a awhile, while on another assignment, they were both assigned by coincidance to investigate a Reacter disturbance in Nibelheim with Sephiroth which set off a chain of events. I could go on but that should basically give you a good idea.

@VNtinos 3 letters can be found on Tifa's desk in her room; in the flashback, & in the present day (I only just realized I can't place the 3 into the 2 time periods, so there is something odd with it all)
1 is from a friend who went to Midgar to seek his fortune & failed, 1 is from her martial arts teacher, & the 3rd letter describes the Shinra operation to cover up the Sephiroth incident by rebuilding the burnt village, and replacing its residents with paid actors

cloud was actually just a normal soldier that was 1 of those 2 guards in the outfit, he was a normal guy then became friends with zack and he was with him i think i cant remember and the way cloud got the soldier first class outfit was that it was in the mansion and he was poisoned so couldnt move

i was 13 when i first played this game and back then i didn't understand a thing from what's been going on the story was too complicated but now that i'm playing it again everything make sense now. but one thing i don't understand is like Wuzzly said: if cloud is just a puppet made five years ago how does he have childhood memories with tifa how did he grow up with tifa? i dont get it...

Sepheroth's reply to that was that He put the memory's of cloud into Tifa. Cloud does not remember anything, he just thinks he does. the "REAL" cloud is Zack, the man who was with tifa in her memory's but sepheroth put memory's in tifa and clouds head just to fuck around with them.

He was real he grew up with Tifa but Five years ago Hojo put Jenova cells in him which because Jenova cells reunite Sephiroth could control him and Cloud is constantly trying to get to Sephiroth because of this weather he realises it or not. He is a sephiroth clone but this is a miss translation of sephiroth copy, so he was made a sephroth copy by hojo but wasn't he himself created by hojo.

Thanks for adding some clarity to that scenario, but I'm still unsure about one thing.
He grew up with Tifa, joined Soldier, ranked low, teamed up with Zack, then got drafted to the Soldier? or did Hojo just grab him as a random test subject for Jenova Cells/Mako Infusion?
I don't own a PSP so I don't know the full crisis core side of the story...

He never joined SOLDIER he was just grabbed as a random rest subject, you can see what happened to Cloud afterwards, later on in the walkthrough.

I' ma little confused...if Professor Hojo "created" Cloud, but then Cloud really existed, how is that even possible?! POSSIBLE SPOILER AHEAD!! I watched CC and AC so I'm assuming that Cloud died when he fought Seph but Hojo did something to him and created him as a puppet?? 0_o Ugh...I hope watching more of this will clear things up. xD

no, in cc, cloud technically died, but hojo began experimenting on him and zack, so they lived. hojo game them (im guessing) some sort of jenova cells, so now sephiroth (otherwise known as jenova's puppet) can control cloud's mind.

Oh yeah, I know. It's just that like I said, my game keeps freezing during the part where Cloud gives Sephiroth the materia, no matter what I do. And it just won't stop. So at the very least, I wanna find out what happens. Believe me, I wouldn't be watching these if my game would work (at least not until after I'd beaten it).

Well they knew each other as children and cloud joined the army but never made it to solider but lied to tifa that he did, when he came back to the town with Zack and Sephroth he was to embrassed and never took off his helmet, so he grew up with tifa and was there when the town burnt down but he was one of the blue army guys not zack as he thought,

The words memetic legacy are used a lot in the filmbut in Advent Children, rather than focusing on memories we wanted to show that consciousness is what lives on. We took the ending of the game and expanded on that idea. Even if theyre dead, their consciousness is still with us. As for Cloudhe sees Aerith several times throughout the film. Its not that he sees her because he feels her presence. He sees her because her consciousnesslives on inside him.
