@DeathsFavorite1 wow dude seriously u just replied to a comment i made over 2 years ago LOL and black people were slaves 50 years ago? srsly? i think u left out the 1 on the front of that.
@DeathsFavorite1 First of all i didnt insult anyone I simply made an observation. Second, the 13th amendment abolished slavery and that was instated in 1865 so if you really want to do the math slavery ended 145 years ago. Im not saying that black people werent treated like shit after then but that is when it became illegal to own a slave of any race. So, you sir are a dumbass, apparently i know more about slavery than you do.
@DeathsFavorite1 And to avoid any further argument on when slavery was ended, since you obviously dont do any research before arguing with people on youtube, go to Wikipedia and type in "Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution" and come back and tell me what it says. After that i want you to make a comment apologizing to all black people because you are ignorant and dont know when slavery was abolished. Gooday sir.
The system was frequently criticized, but only began to be dismantled during "the Progressive era". The last state to end this practice (also the first to use it, beginning in 1846) was Alabama. The legislature mandated that it end on June 30, 1928.
Hence, according to some reckonings, the date at which slavery was finally legally abolished was:
Many have argued that this date is not accurate, because the South managed by various legal means to keep many blacks in a state that, except for the name, was slavery. Chief among these were the system of "peonage" (debt-slavery) and the "convict lease system", both of which persisted until the early 20th century.
@stevencof the President had NO constitutional authority to simply declare slaves free because he wanted to! The basis for the Proclamation was his WAR powers -- the right to deprive those in rebellion of property and other means of supporting that rebellion.
Emancipation Proclamation did free slaves! No, not the instant it was proclaimed (in final form on January 1, 1863). But from then to the end of the war, as soon as Union forces were able to take charge of an area, its slaves were freed.
Kentucky and Mississippi is more of a 'statement'. Slavery had legallly ended in these states in December of 1865, when the needed number of states had ratified the 13th amendment. the slavery ended in Mississippi only in 1995!

The thirteenth amendment to the Constitution of the United States was proposed to the legislatures of the several States by the Thirty-eighth Congress, on the 31st day of January, 1865, and was declared, in a proclamation of the Secretary of State, dated the 18th of December, 1865, to have been ratified by the legislatures of twenty-seven of the thirty-six States.
BUT for those states not covered by the Proclamation (Union territory and areas under Union control at the time it was issued), the legal end of slavery was accomplished by other means. In MOST cases, it happened by the state itself outlawing slavery, as Maryland did in October 1864 (thus it was NOT the last state to end the institution).
@stevencof Unless your family is fortunate enough to be entirely descended from Roman aristocracy, chances are that whatever ethnic group you claim has endured slavery at some point in History.
i live in the north east where it is predomanatly black and do you know who the racists are ? its them. they openly hate white people and yet they get clean away with it. i think someone should try to make a white entertainment channel and see what would happen. either way my kids will be watching looney tunes as i did and my parents did. that is if bill cosby doesnt censor it. you people are ruining our country.
i could personally give a fuck less about all ppl so im not a racist but i totally agree with u and have been saying that for years i live in the south n its the same down here black ppl are the most racist ppl out of any1 and im not talking about the older ones that probably have a good reason for it ive been called everything i the book by black guys n its just excepted but omg u call em a nigger n then im a racist n its time to fight lol this country is ass backwards
I use to own the episode between 2:33 and 3:01 and they censored out the part where it changes and just kinda ends there I never thought twice about it.
in the early 80's when I was a kid this stuff was still on. I remember watchin it but knew nothing of racism. Kids usually dont when they watch this stuff. Loony toons have changed a lot over teh past 20-30 years. Bugs shot himself in the head after losing to the turtle. Now its cut before that part. Last mohican = no more.
It is just so crazy to go back and think that the Looney Tunes cartoons were so funny and acceptable. But then, we were innocent kids. A while ago I watched a cartoon on Boomerang about "The variety of cars" and it was EXTREMELY sexist. But, I guess the toons shouldnt be banned. Doing so would be denial against social and cultural history. XD
Obviously you didn't think about when these films were made. Up until the 1960's, this kind of humor was considered acceptable, so of course animators are going to use this. Aside from that, especially in the case of Warner Bros. cartoons, they will use everything as arsenal for humor. The Betty Boop you showed in the beginning did not prove your argument. They were giving credit to the artists who performed for the short. You should do your homework before trying to make this argument.
the betty boop cartoon in the beginning was offensive because it took the black ppls' dance routine an animated them as ghost. "Spook" was a racist slur againts blacks. See the connection? They made them "spooks"/ghost in the cartoon.
I see your point, and this is completely racist, there's no doubt about that. What I was getting at is the point that it didn't matter until the 1960's... it was acceptable during the time these toons were made
So THAT's why they cut off the 3rd scene. The cartoon would cut off before it got to that part.. When I was little, I didn't even realize everyone went black.
1st scene - wtf...
2nd scene - Awesome! That was too funny to be cut =3

in the early 80's when I was a kid this stuff was still on.
