I wish people would research their history and realize and recognize that colonial slavery and other types of slavery such as that institutionalized by the Romans are completely different. And the reason why we as black people still bitch is because we still feel the after affects of slavery. Feelings of inferiority, pressure to assimilate into white mainstream culture, self-hatred of our own skin color, etc. This is why people need to recognize that cartoons like are racial archetypes.

The clip from "Southern Fried Rabbit" is taken WAY out of context. The point behind every Bugs cartoon was to make his foil look as stupid as possible. The gag hits when Bugs comes out as Lincoln and admonishes Sam. Is there no redemption there? But then again, there are those out there who will call white paint racist simply because it's white.

Cartoons are made up of caricatures, at least the good ones are. So "imitation" is broadly exagerrated. What you are missing is the fact that the people being depicted in what you think is a racist manner are actually the heroes. Look at Speedy Gonzales -- so stereotypically Mexican to the point that should offend in our day and age of PCism. But he outsmarts Sylvester EVERY time. Obviously you didn't think about when these films were made. Up until the 1960's, this kind of humor was considered acceptable, so of course animators are going to use this. Aside from that, especially in the case of Warner Bros. cartoons, they will use everything as arsenal for humor. The Betty Boop you showed in the beginning did not prove your argument. They were giving credit to the artists who performed for the short. You should do your homework before trying to make this argument.
