On the last run, it just didn't look like Cobra was going very fast. They caught the flow of traffic and the truck on the right was nearly going the same speed. If the Cobra was going full throttle, wouldn't he have flown right past traffic? Strange looking.

@kzoney 20B/26b gained and lost a lot of attention. Those engines had this least reliability "in" the lemans series, but was a force to be reckoned with if they lasted. (mainly the 26b though).. Yet, if you were to stick V8 in an RX-7 it would be a drivers race. The 13/20b engine isn't just going to win because of high RPMS. B series produced slightly lower HP numbers and a crazy low amount of tq. A V8 RX-7 could use that at its advantage.

@cliffkemp actually my dad had a first gen rx-7 1979 it came with a bi rotor 13b. and prior to that there were single rotor engines in the rx-3s and such. js. they were just not fuel injected. they were carbonated at the time. i think in 84 they fuel injected them
@bpunlife all production car/truck rotaries were 2 rotors. 1979 didnt have a 13b unless it was imported from japan as US rx7s didnt get 13bs until 84. FI was on them before 84 depending on if the they were jdm or US spec. Single rotor rotaries were not put in production cars/truck from the factory. read up on mazda's page and find out all the details you want.

The top fastest street or drag cars in the world will be one of those cars . and not a rx7. Fun fact the guy who designed the rx7 went to chevy and then designed the body of the vette, look at the last year rx7 and the the vette and you will notice some shit that looks the same.

@ridox000supra Just do some research from chevy and your will find it. The guys name was shynobay or some shit but its not the first time gm had outsiders help with the vette. Look up the 1990 zr1 and you will find that lotus helped gm design that vette as well. Companys have done this thing for ages. Mazda which is a side company of ford use each others engines and chasis in several of there cars and trucks.

@r3rum Technically it is not a muscle car it is a pony car that is what they where called in the 60's. Real muscle cars had big block engines which the mustang except for the 429 cobra jet motor never came with one. No offense

@cliffkemp actually my dad had a first gen rx-7 1979 it came with a bi rotor 13b. and prior to that there were single rotor engines in the rx-3s and such. js. they were just not fuel injected. they were carbonated at the time. i think in 84 they fuel injected them

@bpunlife all production car/truck rotaries were 2 rotors. 1979 didnt have a 13b unless it was imported from japan as US rx7s didnt get 13bs until 84. FI was on them before 84 depending on if the they were jdm or US spec. Single rotor rotaries were not put in production cars/truck from the factory. read up on mazda's page and find out all the details you want.

True the FD RX-7 was/is an awesome car and I've enjoyed driving them but vids like this are so worthless from a "which one is better" point of view. There have been plenty of stock Mustangs that are faster (way faster in the 1/4) you are hard pressed to find a stock stang that out handles one though. God they are fun to drive. I think Mazda had the best marketing pitch. Zoom Zoom.

@PainteddBlue I'll tell you why I would take a Mustang over an RX-7. Its cheaper to deal with in every aspect. If i wanted it to handle better those parts are cheaper too. Cheaper to repair and better in gas... looks are opinionated. FD RX-7s are nice, but I want MY car, not something that only rich or retired people could afford.
