this is the dumbest thing ive seen. the 6.0L powerstroke motor is crap(ever wonder why they only used it for a few years?) and you shouldn't fuck with the variable geometry turbo solenoid...if you want your truck to smoke, have it built so the smoke actually means something... HP!!! Ive worked on many of the 6L and they're the worst thing ford has done since the fox body mustang had a 4cyl option... which is crap as well...

The vgt solenoid doesnt control the amount of fuel. It controls the amount of boost the vgt makes. The PCM doesnt supply fuel either. That's what is called a fuel pump. It is studded with sct.

First of all the vgt solenoid combine with the map and ebp control the amount of fuel the pcm suplies for the engine to run. by doing this you are tricking your pcm and slamming the turbo vanes shut to just straight blow black smoke. you will fuck it up. Black smoke is wasted power and if you want your 6.0 to run great and blow smoke, stud it delete your egr and cooler and put a sct on it. Dont do what this stupid canadian fuck is doing...he is a queer

i have a 05 and i used to unplug the vgt sensor and it would smoke the blackest thickest smoke u ever saw for as long as i held the gas but after doing it 3 or 4 good times i plugged it back in and went about my business well a couple days after the last time i done it i floored it one day and the turbo blew up will this smoke switch cause the same thing to happen

@KTMwhip for starters, fords use a VNT not a VGT..and secondly, modifying the nozzle or geometry (as ford calls it), will not change fuel output to the injectors.... Maybe you should go work on the injection pump.

I don't cake if you want to make smoke but when making a wire splice buy a solder iron & make sure your use flux core solder the couple minutes it takes to solder the wires will save you hours later when troubleshooting a problem. PS don't be idiot and beak your wiring connectors if you do replace the connector shell, ya it a pain in the but but worth it in the long run in prevent problems. One last thing do use heat shrink buy the rignt size and use good quality switches it will save U later

All you did is twist the spliced wires together? I'd solder them before putting on the heat shrink tubing. You want the best connection that will not loosen over time when spicing any wires.

i unplugged my switch on the turbo and reved up my engine but it blew no smoke at all, do i have to have the vgt switch plugged in and then splice in a switch or should it work by simply unplugging it.

@partymhardy14 I am not familiar with the ppe programmer at all. As long as you have a VGT turbo you can install a smoke switch. The switch just cancels the power to the solenoid that controls the position of the veins. The clip may differ but just cut one of the wires and put a switch in the middle of it. If your not getting any smoke try another tune, your most aggressive tune. Still nothing; try another chip. In order for the switch to work you need full fuel without boost.

@fordf350idi you can flip it at idle. a smoke switch can potentially cause damage to parts such as the vgt solenoid or plug the veins with soot if frequently used; beware. i havnt had any issues switching it off with the throttle on and the truck up to speed but that doesnt mean its not good for it.

no u just basically extend the wire to reach into the cab and put a switch in it. you only cut ***ONE** VGT wire. just splice a switch into the centre of it. you are only adding wire so u dont have to pop the hood in order to change the switch position.
