Whenever I see American policemen, they are either beating the shit out of someone completely defenseless, or they're just standing with their pistols drawn and watching while shit happens.
The cops should shoot him? Why - so they can have barron, sharpton, etc marching on their front steps of their homes screaming racism? Having the media following their kids to school? Having the daily news post this perp's communion picture in the paper, with his mom/baby mama/whatever saying "He was just getting his life together" ... lol... This is the police force NYC has created -- keep protesting against the cops, and shoving camera in their faces, this is what you get people.
The problem with cops today is they stop the rest of us from helping other people. THEY admit cowardice is part of their job description. Remember Columbine? VA Tech? Fine, they are not getting paid to take risks. So what's wrong with the rest of us? How long did it take for the cops to arrive? How many people could have helped the homeless man? Didn't anyone have anything they could have used to hit the attacker? DO NOT wait for the cops. It is NOT their job to HELP.

You can't tell me that a cop would let citizens get involved in an assault with a deadly weapon. So, you've got one cop dealing with whoever tries to get involved, causing less force on the guy with the actual knife, reducing the chance of the arrest of the criminal. The only proof here the world is doomed is maybe these cops, and you.
