Hi Marty I am trying to follow the strumming as you have posted 2:56 to 3:18, but having a tough time. If I listen to your strumming I can do it, but this is what I get for a strumming pattern. Am=D UDU, C= D UDDDU, F=D UDU, C=D UDDDU:

So what do you do if you are doing the rythym pattern and instead of DD UD DDU you mess up and say you do DD UD DUD? Something like this when I know I screw up pattern makes me stop strumming.. miss the beat lose the rythym and I am done.. Any advice on how to overcome this and to just catch up the next time around.. instead of stopping? This is a real hang up for me.. Any advice?

Just don't worry about it. Patterns are more like guidelines than rules. ; ) You should maybe start out using the pattern then just have fun with it.

Thanks Trialblazer225.. I need to get to this point of having fun with it!! I can't wait untill I can make a chord shape without needing to look at my fingers!! Then I can concentrate on having fun with the "root" rhythm pattern and then go off and adding some Flava and adding a little more of a beat with an alternating pattern..I will get there, The frustrations will lead to challanges and those challenges take you to the next level.. I CAN do this!

@CRAIGARRR going slow is good and remember to focus more on your right hand! it don´t matter that much if you don´t get the chord just right, people can´t tell. and you could do just as Marty and mute all the strings first and just strum the pattern as long as it takes to make it feel natural. It´ll work, I promise! I was in the same spot when I started like 6months ago and I am where I am almost just by doin Marty´s lessons...
