I found that the BBC's seven episode production was not so slick as this but is somehow much more natural and authentic to the novel. Juliet Aubrey is however quite devine and as brilliant as ever.

@stupidintellect90 Indeed. And it was not only in Dorchester, but in times where the church ruled more than today and divorce was practically impossible it happened not so rarely, I read about quite a lot of those "auctions" in England, for example.
Got the DVD just before christmas, very good actors, and a very very good book.

I wonder why it is that English women never seem to have carried their babies in cloth slings like other cultures, it is much kinder to you arms and leaves your hands free.
