See, this is the problem with "Relapse." Eminem wrote the lyrics for the album on the basis of what was given him (e.g., beats), instead of on the basis of inspiration. You cannot make great music that way.

thats kind of how almost all rap albums are made. Someone makes a beat for you and you rap over it. Unless your eminem creating the eminem show, he pretty much did the whole album by himself.

You are right when it comes to most rappers, but not when it comes to Eminem. The reason Eminem's early work (e.g., "The Marshall Mathers LP") was so great is that he wrote lyrics based on his personal experiences, not based on what the pre-recorded hook to some crappy single said.

no, u have that right and capablablity but it makes no sense for you to say 'thats not how you make great music.' Thats how he makes great music by the beat. Different doesnt equal wrong. Since he has an Oscar and a few Grammy under his belt, that method works.

but alot of eminem's songs were based on beats he was given. for example, he said when he heard the beat for kim, he pictured her in his face, and then it inspired him to write a song of killing her. so it was a combo of his inpiration and the beat he heard. i think he obviously was inspired with the new albums cuz he was in the stuido for 7 months! u cant be in the stuido that long and make music and not be inspired, he is just inspired differently. relapse isnt that much lyrical then sslp.
