I wouldve given Yilin 1st because she was sooooo clean in handstand with her pirouettes, Kexin in 2nd,and Tweddle 3rdThe thing i like about Beth was not all the crazy releases,but all the original difficulty.I also like when gymnasts get their difficulty from a variety of moves like Viktoria Komova.Minimal pirouettes,bar transfers,and her releases.Its the variety in Beth and Vika's routines that sets them apart from others.What i hate is when gymnasts build their d-score from linking pirouettes

Oh this routine is so amazing. I know that Nastia and Yang Yilin who don't do crazy releases perform extremely difficult piruettes but I always found releases way more spectacular than pirouettes. Beth's and He's routines were breath-taking, weren't they?

You people are unbelievable, beths great but so is nastia, probably the first or second most beautiful athlete at these games. all gymnasts have flaws regardless of the time or country theyre from. so many people hate nastia because shes american and you assume that the best bar workers have to be from russia or china

@rsageeth i agree but i think she makes the same mistakes as a lot of others. mustafina separates her legs when she does a front swing into her jaegar just like nastia, almost all athletes now a days cross their legs on twists, and the cowboying is common place (though i have a hard time getting past this one, its awfully ugly)

I love Beth and I hope she can get a medal if she competes next year but she never has quite the control that He Kexin and Nastia Liukin have at their best. I always watch her routines through my fingers.

brycehelmer: Yes, some gymnasts tend to have crossed legs, but Liukin's is an exceptional case. She has crossed legs on every her floor landing; she has very visible and bad crossed legs on her beam landing, but she still got high scores, that's the problem. She has been overscored by judges (most of them are eastern european and american judges) for years. Other gymnasts got punished very hard for the same problems.

@russiangymfan I'm not a Nasty fan, but she's never been overscored internationally by an American judge because she isn't allowed to be scored by an American judge? I'm not saying she hasn't been overscored at points though, her floor routine in particular sticks out to me.

Beth should get bronze because of her super difficulties in this routine! Yes, she did have some form errors, so did Liukin too. Liukin was so overscored on UB and all other 3 events: her vault had low start value, she had slow connections on beam and crossed legs on beam dismount, and she had low SV and low landing and crossed fee & legs on floor, but NBC never criticized Liukin's errors and many problems in her gymnastics.

@russiangymfan Im pretty sure they did in some form or another from 2004 till 2008...especially when Shawn Johnson showed up NBC was very critical...I agree I feel that she was over scored but I feel the chinese were too and also that there are some standards on bars that are over scored as well.

@russiangymfan Maybe her vault was her weakest event, and she was trying to go for a simple clean vault. She probably knew she would score high on her bar routine.

@russiangymfan Not every vault has to have a high start value. Semenova and some of the japanese gymnasts had a low start value too. Nastia wasnt the only one to have crossed legs. The russians did too. The beam is a very hard apparatus, and maybe Natia was making sure she was steady enough to move into the next skill.

She sounded dead serious about it, I'm emphasising that they over exaggerate everything that the favorites have then mid-way through half of the others routine they put them down and say they've lost, and I can't stand when she says "She does nearly every release move in the code of points." She should know better then to say that, and it's almost unfair to other gymnast that she praises Beth and rant about Nastia losing in others...
