Interesting. Out of 77,000 viewers of this clip, you have now joined the elite 5 or so people who have complaiend about it.
That you could not bother to read the other responses about this video is the perfect example of lame.
The camera memory ran out where the clip ends.
As for wasting your time, I am confident that the single subscriber to your channel can help you find a therapist who can help you stop your compulsive "lame video" watching.
There are many ways to assemble a bow drill set. I suggest that you find some cotton wood (genus Populus) and try and copy what you have seen posted here. Think of it like cake recipes. There are many approaches and no "right one".
Maybe I will have to do a video clip on how to make a set when I am at Rabbit stick in September. I will try to remember to send you email when I get it posted.
when I used dental floss, it did not spin the spindle..., it just slid around the stick...the spindle was stationary and the bow moved back and forth with no trouble. I tried numorous times with each one wrapping the floss around the spindle diferent times. Do you have any suggestions or ideas as to why this is? I hope to get an answer and keep the videos coming!
I suggest that you use the Egyptian method for a small diameter string like dental floss. This means tie the string around the middle of the drill with an over hand knot. Then you can wrap maybe 4 to 6 turns around the drill with each loose end of remaining string. Then you can tie the string ends off to the ends of the bow. This technique allows the string to retain a good friction grip around the body of the drill.
how about you wrap the floss around the spindle a number of times, (without attaching it to the bow) and THEN attaching it to the bow, then tighten as much as you possibly can. this ensures that you get it as tight as possible for that number of loops around the spindle. (although the spindle will have to always be on the bow, either that or you'll have to re-tie/attach the floss to the bow/spindle each time you use it.) hope this helps.
Sorry for the delay in responding. This youtube stuff is getting out of control!!
The wax in dental floss can cause slip. Also, the small diameter of the floss may not offer enough surface area in contact with the drill.
An overhand knot and winding the string up can help to make sure that the string does not slip. Nothing special about dental floss though. It is certainly not a first choice.
u suk show da end it didnt work did it

@231yomama
So what was it about the last reply you didn't understand?
And what was it about the explanation I offered on this one that you didn't understand?
Unless of course you read as bad as your spelling.
Go read the explanation moron, and then explain to us how all the other fire videos I posted fail to show that it doesn't work.

lame, if your going to waste our time with your video's, you should at least show the end result..........like ummm. ................some fire maybe ?
With this shot out-take, we never even get to see if it worked.

A fire was not the point...I have posted plenty of those.
That you could use dental floss for a string and make the set small was the
whole reason I posted this.

As I recall, something went awry for Dick when he was showing this one.
