@acedshort he's talking about lively (lively.com/goodbye.html) a 3D chat program that competed with IMVU (Eric's company). More on the real reason google pulled the plug here: techcult.com/top-12-tech-embarrassments-in-2008/
Pivoting this way keeps making me think of Segway. He unveiled a glorified scooter on Leno after a week of hyping the announcement as "the most important invention ever". Anyone seen a rogue Segwayer? Ever? He probably should have waited to find out who was going to be his customer before telling the world everyone would want it.
-- And all the inventors and advertisers will look up and shout "Buy this!"... and the market will look down and whisper "No." --
@acedshort I'm wondering the same thing myself. It's the biggest Google Undo I can think of, but I'm really curious what his company was doing that was similar to that - because we still don't really know what Wave could have been. I definitely agree that the problem was not the product, but who they were trying to get to use it and how. Somewhere was a million people ready to make it fly, but it wasn't "just anyone" - which was apparently their target market for Wave.

Is he talking about Google/wave buzz? Anyone know what product of Google's he is referring to around 52-53 minutes?

This is kind of funny listening to Eric try to explain Lean Startup to Google... seems like they have no idea what he's talking about.
