  • Just saw this and im wishing I was there.I was born in 92 in a suburb turned ghetto Cicero Illinois.Someone needs to upload tracks from these bands especialy anti pacman.

  • Finally after 3 years of watching this one trailer, i get see this Monday Night!! Hell yes!

  • I was there...

I remember one Naked raygun show where the lead singer threw his Mic up over this beam and started swinging out over the audience...it was awesome till the mike broke and he fell about 15 feet down to the dance floor...being the sensitive guy I am...I laughed my ass off...the bandmates just kind of looked on in horror and did the 123 garbage can ending thing...they were p.o.'d and wanted to fight but we laughed at that too...the lead was ok...just a concussion

  • what's the name of the naked raygun song they used

  • i lie, its off the basement screams ep

  • What happened to this film?

  • @Achtungmiche It's in distribution! It has been shown in movie theaters (mostly Chicago.) Look to AMAZON.COM and some of the other outlets. As for maddysane, please buy it, it cost real money and time to make it. It was made by my sister and her husband!

  • @dontillman Got it now, thanks to Reckless Records!

  • I was their for a couple shows - still have the chicago police leather that a girl stole for me - fat guy in a little coat!!

  • hey guys, can someone tell me which band play in time 0:52 - 1:02? it sounds like stuff ifluented by buzzcocks. I like it!

  • Ahhhh... yes. That is "Guns on the Right" by DV8. Great song. There is a problem. They only released one single. That was it. I don't believe I have the B-side.

They might be on the Oz compilation... I cannot rightly recall.

  • I certainly wasn't there. I was only born in '79 and in am from England. My aunt lives in Chicago - area called Wauconda.

Great bands - The Effiggies are definately my favourite. But also Articles Of Faith, Strike Under, Naked Raygun...

  • What's the name of the song that starts at :53?

  • wow i have a lot of this music but i was never around to see most of these bands... the only one basically being Naked Raygun which is the greatest band ever... anyone know where id be able to see this whole thing

  • I was there !! You never went to O'banion's u wer'nt there.... Stuck to the floor on several occasions!! oi oi oi!!! Jer 950 club too!!!

  • Naked Raygun and Pegboy are awesome! Effigies are not punk (yuppie punk maybe)

  • empty vessel makes most noise- too fragmented!

  • I saw this film last night in LA. It's the best punk rock doc since "Another State of Mind." Made me kind of homesick. Excellent.

Shouldn't have sold that WNUR comp.

  • I was there for the 82-84 bits - where can I rent this?

  • whats the name of a band playing during "and many others" is on the screen?

  • negative element

  • DV8 "Guns on the Right." Great song!

I think the next song afterwards is by The Mentally Ill, but the stuff I've seen said they were from NYC. Were they actually from Chicago?

  • brillant.

  • I was "there"! Only I was in Elmhurst, a Chicago suburb, and I was 3 years old. When does this masterpiece hit DVD players?

  • !Viva Elmhurst VFW!

  • !Viva McGregors! You know, it was a decade+ later, post golden era punk rock and roll, but back in the early 1990s, us Chicago/Suburban Chicago kids really embraced the great music of the time and of the past. We had our own scene, as feeble as it may seem in retrospect. I am proud of that time in my life.

  • Hey, I'm in one of the stills with everyone dancing. I see Joe Brill in there and Dave Hill and the girl from Gabba Gabba Gazette. Three pics later, that's Punky biting a Jam album.

So I guess I was there.

  • I wish I was there...way to rub it in.

  • Great film! It was a lot of fun. I look forward to seeing it again! And buying the DVD!

    Eric Nihilist

  • The song playing at 1:15 to 1:22 is "Take A Stand" by Life Sentence

  • no it's not, it's "figured it out" by life sentence

  • The last song on the trailer? wasn't it Men in Blue by Life Sentence??? No disrespect and I could be wrong....

  • FUCK YEA I GOT THAT SONG ON ME IPOD

  • I know this type of question will seem repetitive but I was just wondering what Articles of Faith song is playing during their little section, and also what song is playing at 1:15 to 1:22?

    Fraser

  • The AOF song is "Buy This War" from their 2nd 7".

  • Here's the origin of

    Mean People Suck.

Rights of the Accused, in Chicago.

  • this was a great film! i can't wait till it's on dvd.

  • No I wasn't there. I never lived in Chicago... but I did see a few of these bands around the time this footage was shot. This looks very cool, looking forward to seeing it. Effigies are still a great band.

  • I'm surprised you didn't mention big black. Do you have a vid of the middle of america record release party? I hope thats in the film. Steve Albini blew off a brick of firecrackers right in my face at that one.

  • I was there at COD until it burned down. The Effigies haunted town LP was the best. I rem NAked Raygun having only five songs so they would do bomb shelter twice in a set. Obanions, club 950 were good too.

  • Fuckin fantastic, can anyone list the songs in the order they play?

  • Ummmm. "Below The Drop" by The Effigies. "I Lie" by Naked Raygun. "Elephant's Graveyard" by Strike Under. And then I am unsure. I wish I knew that song by the band after Articles of Faith.

  • Guns on the Right-DV8

  • I can't wait for November 24th!!! I was and will be there!!

  • this looks awesome. I'm a long-time fan of Chicago punk and hardcore and I'm glad some of those bands made it to Boston or the area--Articles of Faith, Effigies, even Life Sentence (Hi Joe!)

  • Check out the video of my old CHICAGO Ramones-core band here on You Tube. Just type in "The Carry Outs" in the You Tube search and the video will come up!

The Carry Outs, (1996-2000) Chicago High School Punk Rock Legends, well, kinda, sorta, whatever.

  • i can't wait for this fucking movie!!!

    NR rules.

and does anybody know what strike under song that is?

  • "Elephant's Graveyard"

  • thanks!

i guess it was a 12"....probably impossible to find now.

  • Yep, it's a very difficult find...but I've got a copy :D

  • I searched for it on a file network called soulseek. And found it. It's called 'Immediate Action'.

  • I have been wracking my brain to find out who the last bands in the video are. Who's song is playing after Articles of Faith? When it says 'and many others'. Catchy song. And, while we're on the subject, can anyone identify the songs after that?

  • anybody know the name of that naked raygun tune?

  • The NR song is "I Lie" from "Basement Screams"

  • May you live to be one thousand years old! God bless you. My first born is yours. Will this film have footage of Mentally Ill, Silver Abuse, DA, Bhopal Stiffs, Anti-Bodies, Epicycle, Negative Element? Can't wait!

  • Yes, I was in fact there and I better be in some of these shots!

  • I CANNOT WAIT until this comes out! Chicago represented! And truthfully! Not stupid gang bullshit, but a culture as vital and... just fucking... WOW as anyone else!

American Hardcore certainly skimped on the Chicago details. But why do they ALWAYS stop at 84??? ALWAYS! Amer. Hardcore, Burning Britain, the Day the Country Died... What ever happened to punk past 84?

  • The guy at the end looks familiar.

Remember "Pukey"? She was the one that would bring a dead rat to the bar with her and everyone would run. She got kicked out because people got sick of the rat situation.

We also had Ska Fish....do you remember him? I loved him because he would bring a Barbie Doll case with dolls from the 60's all punked up.

I hung out with "Little Boy". He lived on Aster with his dad. He held indoor pool parties at his home.

    LadyDemocrat aka Little Girl

  • OMG, omg, omg, like omg, I want a copy of this immediatly! Gabba gabba hey gabba hi!

Anyone go to the parties at the Kennedy's? We called them Ironing Board parties where we would pass around a flyer with LSD directions on them. Not the drug! Most of us were doing ??? nitrate on the dance floor? The pogo, the stroke, slam dancing.

    Damn good parties!

    LadyDemocrat

  • Vipers???? Do you remember the guy that dressed up as a christmas tree at halloween and plugged himself in. He had someone put presents under the tree and they threw tinsel on it. Damn, that was the best costume that I have ever seen in my life. He won the trip to CBGB's.

    LadyDemocrat (little girl)

  • You are obviously retarded.

  • who plays on 1:02-1:07???

  • Man, this city rules.

  • i know a few frogs who are happy.

  • i definitely want a copy of this, i was there for a lot of that & want to buy a few copies just so i can show people how cool & different Chicago punk is from anyone else's version of the genre. By the way, the yo,yo,yo bit was Rights of the Accused. They were awesome too.

  • damn cant wait to see a live mentally ill show underrated bnand fer sure

  • does anyone know the song that is playing after the bands are introduced and it says ...and many more?

  • "Guns On The Right" by DV8

  • who are those little kids on 00:59 during guns to the right?

  • and you werent punk

  • I WAS THERE!!!!

    When is this released?

  • We are in the editing stages right now. We will be doing showings in Chicago hopefully in late July or August. The DVD will probably be released in the fall.

  • Can't wait to see this.

  • what songs playing when they announced naked raygun

  • Naked Raygun "I Lie" from Basement Screams

  • thanks

  • @regressivefilms Basement Screams a true classic so glad they re-released it on CD I owned the original copy of it on vinyl

  • Oh YEAH! After being a bit gutted by American Hardcore, I'm looking forward to THIS! I remember lots of Husker DU/AOF shows at Cubby Bear! Or Effigies with DKs at COD? Great memories. Big Blue rules!

  • DK at COD, packed to the limit and then Jello dives off stage!

  • I think I saw myself in there somewhere...heh heh...I was there,what a great time!

  • Lowest Terms 82-83

  • What group/song is it between 00:52 - 1:02?

  • DV8 featuring Eric Spicer (Naked Raygun) on drums. Only were around from 81 (ish) to 82

  • Any planned release date? And is it gonna be screened in NYC? =D

  • which song is playing from 1:10-1:14? After Mentally Ill...it sounds catchy

  • Rights Of The Accused (R.O.T.A.). Original lineup with Mike O'Connell, Steve Stepe, Jay Yuenger (later of White Zombie), and Anthony Illarde.

  • ah...I thought it kinda sounded like Oi! I've been meaning to get into them actually.

  • Can't wait to see this film - AOF, Effigies and Naked Raygun are total gods ( especially AOF !! )

  • Sweet trailer! Never been to Chicago but I like the city's punk. Hope to see this on dvd someday. Keep us posted.

  • Damn, I may still have a dent from Out of Order's bass headstock in my forehead from being pushed too hard onto the stage at Metro. COOL!

  • You probably don't remember me being there because I was too busy kicking in your head

  • Yeah I know I wasn't there, but I was only 6 in 1977! Still caught the tail end. Started going to shows in 84 and there was still life in the scene through 85. And what about Pegboy!

  • one more year, and you could have included the Bhopal Stiffs, fuck.

  • Between "American Hardcore" and this film. I'd rather see the latter. It's good to finally see someone cover the scenes between the coasts, especially since as my name suggest I am from the heartland.

  • Can't wait for the flick! Damn I love Chicago punk rock!

  • Holy fucking shit!!!!

  • I saw Strike Under open for Killing Joke at Tuts...INTENSE!!!

What music is playing at 1:01 until 1:09 ????

  • Mentally Ill

  • How about 999?

  • I hope OUT OF ORDER is in there and plenty of EFFIGIES!! ROTA!!!

  • got lost cause and life sentence mixed up, gotta be LS near the very end...too bad i doubt Certain Death are in there, so neglected, so overlooked (presumed metal by most cause of the name)

  • wow...a must see for me, been in and out of the chicago music scene since 83, even heard a snippet of the infamous lost cause in there. and yes chicago punk ruled (still does compared to whats been done since).

  • No Lost Cause in there.

  • What's the song when it displays "and many others?"

  • DV8 "Guns On The Right"

  • Thank you, we sure as hell did. Suburbanites had the sh*t kicked out of them by the punks after the bars closed.

    Wild time!

    LadyDemocrat

    LadyDemocrat

  • !!!!

    Strike Under footage!!!!

    This looks unbelievably great...

    Chicago punk ruled.
