@dac314 Ok yes he's got a similar costume and he throws a shield, but the shield isn't his. He just happens to pick up a shield because thats whats closest. The fact is that probably nobody noticed when they were animating that scene because he's not even a B hero, maybe not even C, In the whole video he's one of the only ones I can't name. But I tell you what if it turns out his back story is he's a WWII veteran who got a super soldier serum injection and has a shield, I'll kiss your ass, jerk.

If we take "superhero" in sense of todays term then Mandrake the Magician predates Superman by around 4 years. More loosely defined you could argue such literary characters as Hercules or the likes of Zorro
