I just fixed my "Service Engine Soon" light on my 07 Mitsubishi Galant 2.4l 4cyl DE. Popped my gas tank... sure enough; the gas tank cap was loose. tightened it up, started my car and the light vanished. PROBLEM SOLVED. Hope this helps you guys/gals!

CHECK ALL ENGINE CAPS AND THE GAS TANK CAP. If one is loose or missing, the "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light may come on. If you check these caps and its still on, take it to the dealer, the sooner the better.

In my 96 Chevy Corsica, the "Service Engine Soon" light seems to come on a lot.

I just wanna say, "Fuck you Service Engine Soon light!"

This is a normal Symptom, when it comes on for those few seconds it runs a system check, what its doing is sending signals to every component / system that can cause a check Engine light to come on, when the part/system returns the proper signal the computer says the system is ok. if a component doesn't send back the proper signal, the computer watches that component while you're driving to make sure the part isn't working before turning on the light solidly.

My check engine light came on once, but after awhile it turned off THEEEEN it came back on, but now when I press the accelerate pedal the car spuders n takes awhile to accelerate, and when I go up a big hill, the engine light DOES flash, but otherwise it is constantly on....

Dear teentainytz. I DO NOT OWN an Elantra but I have helped my friend with his 03 Elantra. FIRST: I would recomend you put it on an OBD-II Reader. The OBD-II will pick up any codes, (engine light on or off) it still will.. Any repair shop should do this at a decent price, the dealership wantd to charge my friend $100 to do this, but instead I lent him mine. SECOND: My friends problem was the THROTTLE BODY CONTROL UNIT(The OBD Stated That) Part 1 Of 2 Comments

The problem was then confirmed by the dealer and it was the THROTTLE BODY CONTROL UNIT. (My friend had the same problem as you.) He paid about $180 to have the throttle body replaced and ever since no problem. I would recomend u put it on the reader first just because it could be something as simple as a coil to as complicated as a dead cylinder. Hope this helps :)

Easy fix if you just need it to turn off for inspection just unplug the battery for 10 sec then plug it back in and it should be off but beware it will come back after a day or two so make it quick.

hey can any of you explain this...i have a 2002 Hyundai Sonata...my CHECK ENGINE light came on, I took it to an autozone, they said something may be wrong with O2 sensor and directed me to go to a mechanic...on the way to mechanic, I pulled over at a place to make a turn, and while changing gears from reverse to drive, the engine just stopped and i started it back again, there was no CHECK ENGINE light, everything is normal....
